No Truth In Everton Link
Wolves boss Dave Jones has said
there is no truth in the reports that linked him with the
manager's job at Everton and said "it won't distract him from his
Wolves mission".
He insists some people are making "something out of nothing", just
because he is an Evertonian.
It's no secret that Jones feels he owes a debt to Wolves owner and chairman
Sir Jack Hayward and he is determined to fulfill the
millionaire's dream of taking his club back to the top-flight.

Reserves Win Friendly
Wolves reserves beat a strong Aston Villa
reserves side in a behind closed doors friendly this afternoon at the
Villa’s Bodymoor Heath training ground.
Wolves play their two Australian trialists goalkeeper Les Pogliacomi and central midfielder Paul
Reid while
Villa included first team members Lee Hendrie, Alan Wright, Paul Merson and Hassan Kachloul
in their team.
Wolves won the game 5-3 with goals from Roussel (2), Branch, Proudlock and Tony
McStea.
Team Update
Winger Shaun Newton should be
fit for Wolves match against Gillingham on the weekend after suffering a
hamstring strain in the 3-0 win over Walsall.
Dave Jones took Newton off in the 58th minute as a precaution and has said
the injury is not a serious one.
Striker Dean Sturridge is hoping
to beat his personal record for goals in a season when Wolves take on
Gillingham, he scored two against Walsall to take his total for Wolves to
17, plus the three he scored for Leicester means he has equaled his previous
best for a season of 20 for Derby County during their promotion winning
campaign of 1995/6.
Midfielder Alex Rae has jokingly
said: "I’ve got a lovely head of hair and I think that all the fans
that sing about me should pop along to the local opticians.
"Seriously, though, I don’t mind. I know it’s all just a bit of fun
– the supporters have been fantastic both here at Molineux and on our
travels as well.
After Wolves fans have been singing about the ‘follicley challenged’
(bald) midfielder!

Team News
Wolves have no fresh
injury worries ahead of tomorrow nights sell-out match against Walsall and can go 8
points clear at the top with a win.
Walsall boss Colin Lee
returns to his former club will include Tony Barras in his squad
but David Holdsworth is still suspended.
Wolves linked with Wyness
Wolves are being linked with a
move for Inverness Caley Thistle striker Dennis Wyness. Boss Dave Jones has already
signed Colin Cameron and Kenny Miller from the Scottish Leagues and had the former
Aberdeen player watched as he scored both Caley goals in Saturday's 2-2 draw
with Partick Thistle at Firhill.
Also watching the game were Derby County, Arsenal and Tottenham, as well as St
Johnstone.
Dave Jones has again been linked with the managers job at Everton, a
newspaper on Sunday reported that if Everton loose to Crewe in the FA Cup
replay Jones could be at Goodison Park this week.
Boss's Gift
Wolves boss Dave Jones has sent
Rotherham boss Ronnie Moore a dress after he said he would wear one if
George Ndah's winning goal was proved to be a 'good' goal.
Moore thought that the Wolves striker fouled his keeper Mike Pollit and said
he would wear a dress if the replay showed that there was no foul in the
build-up.
After watching it himself Jones believed that Ndah had done nothing wrong
and revealed he had sent Moore a new outfit to wear!
Dave Jones said: "I certainly sent Ronnie a dress. And I don't think he
was very happy."

Help Set Up A Supporters Trust
Supporters Trusts are a legal entity, which are set up with the powers to acquire and hold shares in a football club (should this become possible), and to elect a supporters representative director to the club Board (if the club is agreeable). It is set up as a Co-operative Society - fully democratic, owned by its members, not-for-profit, and open to all with easily affordable subscriptions. It exists to enable us to play a responsible part in the life of Wolves FC, through partnership with directors, local business and the Local Authority. It exists to co-operate and NOT to confront. THIS WILL NOT in anyway be instead of or in competition to the Independent Wolves Supporters Clubs, who have a different role to play.
Supporters' Trusts are essential for fans to have their say, just look at York City or Northampton Town.
I know at Wolves we have a good set up but that's NOW. What happens if this wasn't the case anymore? We all remember the whole Bhatti fiasco and Sir Jack (or God as some might call him!) won't be here forever. I don't doubt that the Board have the right heart now but we have to think of the future for wolves. We wouldn't want to encounter a situation like the Bhatti's again. Wolves is essentially OUR football club and we should want to play a role.
There are 45 Supporter's Trusts currently established with another 15 in development. Clubs like York who are in trouble have one and Wimbledon has one, but other clubs like Norwich are in the process of establishing one and they don't have any problems really do they - even
Albion and Nuneaton borough have one!
If you are interested in helping me set up a trust for wolves supporters so that we can have a say in our club please e-mail me at
k.wright@mbs.bbk.ac.uk. Please also visit the Supporters Direct web site on
www.supporters-direct.org if you want to see what other clubs have formed trusts and what the aims and objectives are.
I look forward to hearing from as many of you as possible
Let's hope this is our season!
Katie.

Transfer Update
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey
has denied press reports claiming boss Dave Jones was about to make a
£1million bid for Newcastle United midfielder James McClen. Reports claim

in the wake of a police caution for being drunk and disorderly last week,
with Molineux touted as his probable destination.
Dave Jones was reported to be ready to delve into the transfer market this
week to strengthen Wolves squad for the final part of the season, so more players
are likely to be linked with a Molineux move.
There have been no offers for
Wolves transfer listed trio, Michael Branch, Cedric Roussel and Rob Taylor.

Goodyear Statement
Wolves has released the following statement
on WOW regarding the club sponsors, Goodyear Great Britain Limited:
WOLVES – A BIG THANK YOU FOR 12 GOOD YEARS
It is with mixed feelings that Wolverhampton Wanderers announce the conclusion of their long-running sponsorship agreement with Goodyear Great Britain Limited at the end of the current Season.
After 12 years as the Club’s main sponsor, Goodyear are finally hanging up their sponsorship boots! They’re retiring to the dressing room one last time at Molineux to reminisce over many highs and occasional lows of the longest continuous sponsorship arrangement in football.
Marco Molinari, Chaiman and Group Managing Director of Goodyear Great Britain Limited, was reflective about the announcement. “When we first entered into this sponsorship agreement, it was with the intention of remaining for 3 or, at most, 4 years. But, after maintaining a very good relationship with the Club during our 12-year sponsorship period, we now feel that we have reached the point where we have maximised our involvement and it is now time to move on and let someone else take over the proud sponsorship of this great Club.” He continued, “It’s been a fantastic partnership. Sport, and in particular football, has such a tremendously high profile today – the media coverage and brand exposure we have gained over this prolonged period has been invaluable, as has the involvement of our customers and employees.
“We wish the Wolves every success and feel that this is the year that could see our team back in the Premiership where we belong.”
At Molineux, the departure of Goodyear is inevitably tinged with a little sadness. Wolves’ Chairman, Sir Jack Hayward, expressed his gratitude to the company. “Like Wolverhampton Wanderers, and indeed myself, Goodyear have a genuine and long-standing affiliation with Wolverhampton. Their input and assistance have been invaluable to us and it would be a great tribute and ‘thank you’ for their support if we were to celebrate promotion together to conclude their final season of sponsorship.”
Goodyear will continue their support for the Club through the various forms of localised sponsorship and hospitality arrangements.
Wolves’ Chief Executive, Jez Moxey, also voiced his appreciation. “It’s been a fantastic and proud relationship to have with such a global brand as Goodyear, and we are indebted to them for their assistance in the major strides forward we have achieved at the Club in recent years.”

Youth Teams Lose
Wolves youth teams were both
beaten on the weekend away at Birmingham City. The under 19s lost 3-1 after Leon
Clarke scored in the 25th minute to give
Wolves the lead. The under 17s lost 1-0.
10th February 2002
Transfer Update
Wolves have 28-year-old Nigerian
born striker Ganiyu Owalabi on a weeks trial. He now has a Belgian passport
having played for Antwerp for six years before moving to Dubai where he has
played during the last year for Al-Wasl Sport Club.
Wolves could be ready to offload
their longest-serving player at Molineux, Welsh international Carl Robinson.
The difficulties surrounding his contract situation at the club continue and
he will be out of contract at the end of the season. Robinson admits there
are still snags concerning the new deal Wolves have offered him. He wants to
fight to win back his place, but the chance of regular first-team football
with a new club next season will be too hard to turn down.
Rob Taylor could be returning to
Molineux from his loan spell at Grimsby Town. Taylor has done well but he is
suspended for the next three games after being sent off against Bradford.
Grimsby player-boss Paul Groves did want to extend the strikers loan spell,
but if he does, Taylor will miss the first fortnight with the ban. Also
Taylor limped out of Town's clash with Watford on Sunday with a sore
Achilles tendon.
Rangers boss Alex McLeish is
remaining evasive over a report in The Sun that Wolves defender Kevin Muscat
has secretly signed for the Glasgow club.
It was reported that the player and his representatives shook hands on a
deal worth £1.2million a year for four years, with Muscat joining in the
summer on a Bosman free transfer. However it is now thought that a
pre-contract agreement has not been signed, and the Gers boss is taking his
time over making a decision on the Australia international.
A spokesman for Wolves claimed yesterday that they were unaware of any deal,
but admitted that the tough-tackling star could speak with any other
interested party outside of England without their permission.
Rangers were unavailable for comment as they prepared to face Hearts at
Tynecastle last night, and McLeish revealed very little after his side's 2-0
victory, saying: "When Rangers have got something to say about players
joining the club we will say it."

Liquidator Petition
I received an email from a
Wolves fan asking me to set up a petition for the return of the old favorite
Liquidator to Molineux, after recently on the Wolves official web site
someone posted a message calling for the liquidator to be brought back. The
message drew loads of support but Wolves admin recently dumped the message
thus getting rid of all the messages of support.
If you would like to sign the petition click

The Liquidator Book
THE LIQUIDATOR by Bob Bibby
"The Liquidator had an instant attraction for me as it
features my beloved Wolverhampton Wanderers. It even starts at a match which
I remember quite well against our local rivals West Bromwich
Albion...although I wasn't aware that one of the spectators was later
murdered and left in a pool of blood underneath the famous Billy Wright
statue!
It's not just football which keeps you glued to the book though. Set against
a backdrop of familiar Wolverhampton landmarks, Detective Chief Inspector
Tallyforth sets about solving the murder. There's drug-dealing, mystery,
romance and suspense along the way....with the occasional football match
thrown in for good measure.
Bob Bibby has cleverly reflected a multi-cultural Wolverhampton and tackled
the issues of different cultures learning to live together.
I found it a thoroughly enjoyable read, but working out whodunit was as
difficult as predicting the score for a Wolves match!"
Jenny Wilkes
BBC WM
President of the Official Wolverhampton Wanderers Supporter's Club

Wolves Request London Hearing
Wolves have asked for their
personal hearing be held in London on the 7th February, the morning of the
Crystal Palace game to contest FA charges of misconduct. The
charges are over an incident in the home game against West Brom on the 2nd
December.
Boss Dave Jones said on WOW:
“The FA asked us to attend a hearing on Thursday and we are waiting to
hear whether we can have the meeting in London - otherwise we will
have to ask for an alternative date.
"I plan attend, along with club secretary Richard Skirrow, to
strongly contest the charge.”
