Loan Update

Boss Glenn Hoddle will be waiting on the fitness of several defenders before allowing Keith Lowe and Leon Clarke to go on another loan spell.
The pair joined QPR in the January transfer window but returned to Molineux just over a week later, following the departure of manager Ian Holloway. Due to loan rules, neither have been allowed to play for Wolves, at any competitive level, since returning from Loftus Road. They will be eligible to play again from this week.
Swansea have been linked with a loan move for Keith Lowe, but the Wolves boss says he'll not be making any arrangements just yet.

Youth Team Victory

The Wolves under 18s enjoyed beat FA Youth Cup semi-finalists Liverpool 2-1 on Merseyside at the weekend.
Liverpool had beaten Carlisle 6-0 earlier in the week to qualify for the last four of the Cup, but goals from Liam Hughes and Mark Salmon gave Wolves the win.

Wolves took the lead after 23 minutes through Liam Hughes who netted the rebound after the Liverpool keeper had saved his first shot.
Liverpool equalised in the second half after Wolves failed to clear a corner properly.
But 15 minutes from time Elliott Bennett broke on the right and he sent over a great cross that Mark Salmon headed in from ten-yards out.

Match Reaction

Wolves manager Glenn Hoddle senses confidence is returning to his team after seeing them secure a 3-2 victory over Hull at the KC Stadium.
Carl Cort's last-minute volley made it three wins on the spin for Wanderers and they are now two points behind sixth place as they push for a place in the play-offs.
Jeremie Aliadiere and Kenny Miller had scored for Wolves either side of the break but the Tigers had pegged them back on two occasions, first through Leon Cort and then thanks to a bizarre own goal by Rob Edwards.

Hoddle said: "Our fortunes are starting to turn a little bit and it's a lovely time for this to happen.
"It's the first time we have won three matches on the bounce this season and it has given us some buoyancy.
"We will keep believing in ourselves and there will be a few teams looking over their shoulders."

Hoddle, who adopted a 4-3-3 formation from the start, was delighted with his side's attacking play against a Tigers side who dominated large spells of the game.
"It was a humdinger for the neutral but it was too open for the managers," he added.
"It was bold of us coming here with three up front but we looked accomplished on the ball.
"Carl's finish was exquisite. In fact all three goals were excellent, well crafted and well finished but we did not make it easy for ourselves the way we defended."

Team News

Hull: West Ham midfielder Mark Noble is in line to make his home debut.
Defender Ryan France is available after a ban but may struggle to displace Alton Thelwell and Alan Rogers.

Wolves: defender Jody Craddock is set to miss out with knee ligament trouble while his obvious replacement Gabor Gyepes is short of match fitness.
Paul Ince (hamstring) is unlikely to feature, while Mark Clyde (calf) is out and there are also question marks over Colin Cameron and Mark Kennedy.

Wolves will be wearing their third strip, which is the former blue away kit, for the match because both of Wolves' home and away strips clash with the kit of Hull, who also wear gold and black.
It will be the first time Wolves have worn the blue shirts and white shorts since the trip to Watford in the Carling Cup in September 2005.

Reserve League Changes

Wolves reserves could be playing in a different League next season if the first team doesn't get promoted.
Under a proposed rule change the Premier Reserve Leagues (north and south) will, from next August, only include teams from the top flight.
If Wolves are still in the Championship then the club's reserves would end their three year involvement with the Premier Reserve League and revert to the Pontins League should the new rule come into force.
Existing regulations allow former members of the Premiership to continue in the Premier Reserve League providing they don't suffer a further relegation.

Injury Updates

Defender Jody Craddock injured his knee ligaments against Ipswich on Saturday, he was substituted in the 38th minute. He's unlikely to be fit for the weekend nor is Paul Ince who is struggling with his hamstring.
Mark Kennedy (also hamstring) still hasn't been able to train although there was some improvement with Gabor Gypes (back) and Colin Cameron (thigh). They were able to do some light training with the physio.
20-year-old defender Keith Lowe, who was sent out on loan to QPR only to be sent back when there was a change of management, has suffered a knee injury in training.

19th February 2006

Match Reaction

Wolves boss Glenn Hoddle was left to reflect on a second successive victory following the disappointment of last weekend's 1-1 home draw with basement side Crewe, a result which had brought barbed comments from chairman Rick Hayward.

Hoddle said: "I read a transcript of what the chairman said and there were actually a lot of positive things, but after a 1-1 draw with Crewe, people only want to pick out the negatives.
"I've always said this is not a sprint, this is like the Grand National and at some stage of the season we would end up going on a run.
"We're coming to the business stage of the season and if we can go up to Hull and do something by getting a third victory, that will go a long way to restoring some belief here and maybe making a few other people sit up and take notice.
"The downside is that we're picking up a lot of injuries at a key stage of the season."

Team News

Wolves: defender Lee Naylor has declared himself fit for Saturday's match.
The left-back had been carrying a knee injury before reporting a hamstring niggle in the aftermath of his side's 1-0 victory at Burnley in midweek.
However, Naylor has now declared himself available for selection, although a late decision is to be made on Paul Ince, who has also sustained a hamstring twinge.

Ipswich: injury problems have multiplied ahead of the trip to Molineux, with Alan Lee out and Fabian Wilnis a doubt.
Lee, whose fourth goal in six games since a £100,000 move from Cardiff helped earn victory at Crewe in midweek, is a definite non-starter.
Lee has a slight hamstring tear and will be missing for the next three weeks, while defender Wilnis is rated no better than 50-50 after bruising ribs.
Spanish defender Castro Sito is hopeful of recovering from a swollen knee, while on-loan midfielder Jimmy Juan expects to be able to play despite being troubled by a sore heel.

16th February 2006

Injury Update

Wolves midfielder Paul Ince is struggling to be fit for Saturday's game against Ipswich.
Boss Glenn Hoddle revealed that Ince reported hamstring problems after the Burnley match on Tuesday night.

Hoddle said: "He pulled his hamstring having the shot (for the goal), so it shows what a character he is to play the full 90 minutes, as did Lee Naylor who slightly pulled his hamstring.
"They both battled through it and that was the type of performance from the whole team one needed on a pitch like that, and there are a lot of things we can learn from that."

Naylor has since declared himself fit for the for this weekend's match, after reacting well to treatment on his hamstring and has subsequently returned to training.
Wolves physio Barry Holmes said: "Lee was in today and declared himself fit, he did stay for some treatment and he'll be back training tomorrow."

Man Charged Over Ince 'Gestures'

A 44-year-old man has been charged with racially-aggravated harassment towards Paul Ince during the match at Burnley's Turf Moor ground.
The charge follows an incident in which gestures were made at the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder at the clash with Burnley on Tuesday.
The man from Burnley was released on bail and is due before Burnley magistrates next week.

Reserve Game Postponed

This evening's reserves game at the Bucks Head against Leeds has been called off due to a water-logged pitch.
It was scheduled to kick-off at 7pm, but after a pitch inspection at 12noon and it was decided the surface was not playable.

Match Reaction

Wolves boss Glenn Hoddle has called for his side to build on their 1-0 victory against Burnley at Turf Moor and mount a late charge for the play-off places.
A trademark strike from veteran midfielder Paul Ince in the first half was enough for Wolves to claim their first win in four Coca-Cola Championship games.
That moved Hoddle's side to within seven points of sixth-placed Preston, ahead of North End's trip to play Southampton tomorrow evening.
And the former England coach insists his side will continue to aim high, beginning with Saturday's home clash against Ipswich.

Hoddle said: "The main thing for us is that we picked up a win after two draws and a loss in our last three matches in the league.
"Now we go back to Molineux on Saturday with a good performance under our belt.
"The pitch meant we had to play a different type of game and mix it up a bit. We passed it when we needed to pass it but battled as well, and I thought we did extremely well.
"Anyone who was out there watching it will know we haven't given up on anything yet," he added.
"It's nice to get back to winning ways, that will give everyone a lift, although despite not winning in three our confidence was still relatively high."

Wolves have had some players called up for International matches.

Seol is travelling to Seoul for South Korea's match with Angola, new signing Tomasz Frankowski is in the Poland squad for their match with the USA, which is being played in Kaiserslautern, Germany.
Academy graduate Mark Davies has been called up to England u19s to face Slovenia at Northampton on Tues 28th February.
Youngster Tom Stewart will join Northern Ireland u21s, who play Wales on same day.

All the players will leave after the Hull game on February 25th and return before the trip to QPR on March 4th.

Loans End Early

New QPR caretaker manager Gary Waddock has sent on-loan duo Leon Clarke and Keith Lowe back to Molineux after just one appearance each.
The pair were brought in on a month's loan by former boss Ian Holloway (who was placed on gardening leave last week) and played in the 2-0 defeat at Leeds on 4th February, which was Holloway's last in charge.
But Waddock informed striker Clarke and defender Lowe they were not part of his plans.

Team News

Burnley: manager Steve Cotterill will have another defensive re-shuffle.
Defender Wayne Thomas was sent off for two bookings in the 2-1 defeat at Ipswich and starts a two-match ban at Turf Moor, as it was his second red card of the season.
He joins Frank Sinclair on the sidelines as the Clarets skipper serves the final instalment of a two-game ban for collecting 10 yellow cards.
Goalkeeper Danny Coyne is the only other absentee and he will not play again this season due to a serious knee injury.

Wolves: loan striker Jeremie Aliadiere is expected to be handed his Wolves debut.
The 22-year-old Highbury hitman's first appearance has been delayed to ensure the 93-day loan period would not expire during the Coca-Cola Championship play-offs.
But Nigerian Seyi Olofinjana will be missing after he returned from the African Nations Cup nursing a back problem that is likely to keep him sidelined for at least six weeks.
The game is also expected to arrive too soon for Matt Murray, despite the goalkeeper nearing full fitness following surgery to repair a twice-broken foot.
But Mark Clyde is pushing for a recall after bouncing back from hip and ankle injuries.

12th February 2006

Match Reaction

Glenn Hoddle admitted Wolves were as bad as any time during his 14-month reign as they laboured to a damaging 1-1 home draw against bottom club Crewe.
The former England manager was scathing of his team's first-half performance against a side who are without a victory since 5th November.

Boss Hoddle said: "The first half was as poor as I have seen since I've been here.
"There's a bit of anxiety coming into the team. I didn't need to give them a rollicking at the interval because the crowd reaction was enough. I can't accept that performance. It just wasn't good enough.
"The second half was better and we were very close to getting the winner but if I had known why we were so poor earlier on, I could have done something about it.
"The players looked too hesitant and I reminded them at half-time they had to be bold and brave. Perhaps they let the crowd reaction get to them too much."

Hoddle added about Mark Kennedy: "Mark will be first to admit the crowd were getting on his back but he showed the right example.
"We're in a rut and need to get back to winning games."

Team News

Wolves: boss Glenn Hoddle will be without Seyi Olofinjana for the clash with Crewe after the Nigerian midfielder returned from the African Nations Cup with a back problem.
Olofinjana will require six or seven weeks of complete rest, and joins George Ndah (medial ligament) on the casualty list.
Carl Cort should be fit despite being replaced three-quarters of the way through the defeat against Leicester last weekend, while Mark Davies is hopeful of featuring despite an ankle injury.

Crewe: manager Dario Gradi is without skipper Kenny Lunt.
The experienced midfielder had an appeal against his dismissal in the closing stages of the 4-3 defeat by Reading rejected and he serves a one-match suspension.
Tony Grant, now recovered from a broken ankle, could make his debut having come through a couple of reserve games.
Wales international David Vaughan (dead leg) and striker Gareth Taylor (facial wound) are both doubtful, along with new signing Majid Bougherra, who sustained a knock in the warm-up for a midweek second-string clash.
Striker Eddie Johnson (ankle) is likely to miss out, striker Juan Ugarte (knee) is also sidelined and goalkeeper Ben Williams is continuing his recovery from viral meningitis.

Manager Rumors

Wolves boss Glenn Hoddle has quashed any media talk linking him to the vacant job at Newcastle Utd.
Bookmakers have this morning been publicising the fall in odds on the Wolves boss getting the St James' Park hot seat. But speaking after training this morning Glenn said on WOW: "I can assure you there is absolutely nothing in this. It isn't a story."

Reserves Out Of Cup

Wolves reserves where knocked out of the Birmingham Senior Cup, losing 3-0 at Nuneaton, the first of the them a controversial penalty.

Nuneaton took the lead n the 52nd minute.
Martin Riley's challenge on Brian Quailey as the pair chased for a ball in the Wolves box looked to be a fair one but the Boro man went down and the referee pointed to the spot. Heated protests were ignored and Gez Murphy tucked away the spot kick.
Then just four minutes later Nuneaton got a second. Mark New cut in from the left and side-stepped a defender before drilling a low shot inside the near post.
The third came after 66 minutes gone, home skipper Neil Moore climbed highest to head home a corner from Fitzpatrick. Murray looked to be impeded as he went for the cross but the goal was allowed to stand.

Nuneaton: Acton, Oddy, Love, Fitzpatrick, Moore (capt), Brown, Collins (Taylor 74), New, Frew, Murphy (Foster 74), Quailey.
Unused Subs: Wilkin, Holmes, Poole.
Wolves: Murray, Little, Rafferty, Gleeson, Riley, Clyde, Gobern, O'Connor (capt), Ferran, Cornes, Jones.
Unused Subs: France, Spalding, Collins.
Yellow Cards: Clyde, Jones.

Injury Update

Wolves midfielder Seyi Olofinjana returned home early from the African Nations Cup with a back complaint.
The Nigerian international has now been told he has to have complete rest for the next six or seven weeks.

But there is some good news on the injury front, George Ndah is due to return to full training in two to three weeks, and young midfielder Mark Davies could be fit for Saturday's game with Crewe after shaking off an ankle injury.

6th February 2006

Postma Apologises

Keeper Stefan Postma has apologised to Wolves supporters after his mistake in the defeat at Leicester.
Postma dropped McCarthy's soft header from a corner at the feet of Fryatt who pounced to score the game's only goal, and Postma was disappointed with his error.

He said on WOW: "One of their players got a header which went through Joleon Lescott's legs and then I think it hit Fryatt's shoulder or arm - which is why it bobbled on top of my fingers and dropped in front of me.
"I saw the ball coming but then all of a sudden it was out of my hands.
"Looking back I suppose I could have parried it, not taken a risk and just smashed it away. I didn't do it and have to hold my hands up that we lost the game by my mistake.
"I apologise for it and that's the only thing I can do, put my hands up and apologise."

5th February 2006

Match Reaction

Seething Wolves manager Glenn Hoddle said goalkeeper Stefan Postma had accepted blame for the defeat with Fryatt having stabbed home the ball after Paddy McCarthy's header was fumbled.
Hoddle said: "It's always disappointing when you lose games like that.
"Stefan was the first to say it was down to him.
"He pulled off a great save in the first half but at this level you don't expect to concede goals like that.
"But what concerned me most was that at 0-0 we didn't show enough desire to win the game.
"Sometimes it has to be down to hard graft and grit but we didn't have enough players showing that, so there were harsh words in the dressing room."

Team News

Leicester: caretaker manager Rob Kelly is sweating on the fitness of Gareth Williams for Saturday's Walkers Stadium clash with Wolves.
Williams, only recently back from an ankle injury, suffered a dead leg during the 3-2 midweek Championship victory over QPR at Loftus Road and has been rated 'touch and go' for the weekend.
Defender Nils-Eric Johansson has a better chance of featuring, though, after recovering from a foot injury.
Midfielder Danny Tiatto remains sidelined by hamstring trouble and Lee Morris has yet to regain full fitness after a knee operation.
Winger Momo Sylla is still away on African Nations Cup duty with Guinea.

Wolves: are set to hand new signing Tomasz Frankowski his full debut.
On-loan Arsenal striker Jeremie Aliadiere is expected to be missing from the squad which travels to the Walkers Stadium.
Manager Glenn Hoddle has opted to delay Aliadiere's debut to ensure a time limit on the deal would not preclude the Frenchman appearing in any play-off games.
Meanwhile, fellow striker George Ndah remains on the casualty list thanks to a knee injury and Mark Clyde is struggling to overcome a long-term hip problem.
The game is expected to arrive too soon for Matt Murray, despite the goalkeeper nearing full fitness following surgery to repair a twice-broken foot.

Loan striker Jeremie Aliadiere won't be available to play for Wolves until the St Valentine's Day match at Burnley.
Because of a time limit on his loan, it was decided to put back his debut to ensure that he'd be available for the play-offs, if Wolves reach them.
It means that he will miss Saturday's trip to Leicester and the following week's home encounter with Crewe.
Aliadiere was due at Molineux later today and will take part in his first training session tomorrow.

Franek Ready For Promotion Push

Tomasz Frankowski reckons his £1.4million price tag will seem like peanuts if Wolves achieve promotion this season.
The 31-year-old Poland international, who joined from Spanish second division side Elche last week, revealed meeting manager Glenn Hoddle made his mind up to join a club he believes are more than equipped to qualify for, and win, the play-offs.

He told a Polish website: "Promotion to the Premiership, which is our aim, would be a massive achievement for Wolves, especially from a financial point of view.
"Their decision to sign me could be considered as a big risk, but I am hoping that risk will pay off several times over if we do achieve promotion.
"When I was moving to Spain there were suggestions I wouldn't cope with their football.
"The same was said when I joined Wisla Krakow but I have always proved the doubters wrong. The most important thing is scoring goals.
"When I went for the two days to England and saw the beautiful newly-built £3million training ground, and after speaking to Glenn Hoddle, there was never any doubt where I wanted to go.
"The objective is clear - with my help Wolves want to reach the Premiership. We want to get into the play-offs and we want to win them."
