Wolves: will give fitness tests to strikers Nathan Blake and Dean Sturridge before tomorrow's top-of-the-table clash, Kenny Miller and George Ndah could deputise for them. Dave Jones is still without defender Kevin Muscat (suspended) Ludovic Pollet and Mark Kennedy. Muscat's replacement Sean Connelly limped off against Burnley, so Jones will choose between loan signings Gunnar Halle and Jacob Laursen.

Man City: Eyal Berkovic is still out injured for City and either Sun Jihai or Gerard Wiekens will deputise. Darren Huckerby seems certain to partner 30-goal Shaun Goater up front, meaning another substitute role for £5 million forward Jon Macken. Paulo Wanchope and Nicky Weaver are also out for the season and Danny Tiatto is suspended.

Match Reaction

Wolves boss Dave Jones remains defiant that they will hold onto second place and is already focusing on their crunch clash with leaders Manchester City at Molineux on Monday.
"We've never talked about West Brom and looked over our shoulders," said Jones.
"This win keeps us within a good shout of Manchester City and all is to play for now on Easter Monday when they roll into town."
"We knew they would have a right go at us after the break and we didn't want to concede early on but that's exactly what happened," Jones added.
"Our first-half play was excellent and the second half was battling and we showed those qualities too."
"It looked a goal," conceded Jones, "but there was a lot of pushing and shoving going on and some things you get, some you don't. Oakesy said he was pushed."

The decisions bewildered Burnley boss Stan Ternent, who raged at the Orpington official.
"I've just seen Taylor's goal on video and it was a perfectly good goal and their first goal was offside," he said.
"I don't want to talk about the referee as I haven't got enough money, but in my view it was an incompetent performance.
"Referees are like God, they are not always right but never wrong.
"I find Alan Moore's sending off quite incredible, beyond human comprehension. I felt he went to head the ball and I didn't even think it was a booking.
"Alan Moore has never been spoken to or cautioned by the referee and he gets a straight red card.
"When you work as hard as we have worked all season all we want is a little bit of fairness and consistency. We've got amateur people running a professional sport.
"It happens all over the country, every week, managers talking about referees."

Branch Set for Royal Move

*Update: Branch has signed on loan for Reading until the end of the season.

Division 2 leaders Reading are hoping to complete the loan signing of transfer listed striker Michael Branch. Royals manager Alan Pardew is looking to strengthen his squad and wants to test Branch's credentials in the promotion run-in.
Pardew said: 'Michael would be the final piece in our jigsaw between now and the end of the season.
'I wanted to act well before deadline day and not have to be in the hat with everybody else this time next week.
'Again the Chairman has shown his commitment by sanctioning this, and it's a good opportunity for ourselves and Michael to have a look at each other with a view to next season,' he told the club's official website.
The 23-year-old was a regular in Wolves first team during his first 18 months with the club, but he has made just five starts and two substitute appearances this season, he joined Wolves from Everton in a £500,000 transfer two years ago.

Other transfer news: Wolves have played down speculation that they are set to make an offer for Newcastle's 23-year-old Andy Griffin before next Thursday's transfer deadline as a replacement for Kevin Muscat.

Match Reaction

Wolves boss Dave Jones was annoyed with his team after they lost 1-0, and he said Kevin Muscatt's red card was an act of stupidity.
He said after the game on WOW: “Kevin got away with it in the first half. I don’t want to hear any apologies, blaming frustration or anything like that. It was an act of stupidity when we were struggling to get going. The same goes for Mo Camara who started fighting with their bench.
“It was the worst performance we’ve put in for a long time. At no time did we have spell of pressure. There was no tempo to our game.
“Good luck to Grimsby. They deserved it.
“Let’s hope this is a wake up call. We’ll go back to the drawing board on Monday on the training pitch.
“The lads are disappointed but still positive. We will bounce back. We’re not giving up on the Championship yet. Manchester City can still be caught and they’ve still got to come here.”

Molineux Development

Wolves will not be developing Molineux even if they win promotion to the Premier League, chief executive Jez Moxey has confirmed that there will be no major stadium development work during the close season as there isn't enough time. But they will look to add some temporary stands to accommodate around another 2,500 per home match and raise the Molineux capacity to around 30,000.
Any work on increasing the current 28,500 capacity will be put on hold until at least the summer of 2003 and if Wolves are in the Premiership and look like staying there, then they would look at increasing the capacity to around 40,000.

Dave Jones said on WOW: “We know that finding a keeper is a priority with the deadline getting closer.  “We’ve gone for one or two but they’ve either picked up an injury or their clubs have not wanted to let them go.
“We might go for a loan – just as cover for the rest of the season. But, if I find one who is capable of strengthening the squad, I will look at that.
“We won’t go past the deadline without bringing someone in.”

Jones Could Get New Deal

Wolves boss Dave Jones could be offered a new deal if (or when) Wolves get promoted. Jones's current contract runs out in the summer of 2004 but could be offered a three-year extension to the deal as well as a massive pay rise after Wolves chairman Sir Jack Hayward has been delighted with the managers impact in his 14 months in charge of the team.
Sir Jack's proposal is not only to reward Jones for earning Wolves promotion after such a long wait, but to deter other club's from poaching him especially after the Everton rumors.

Billy Wright Memorial Book

I received this email from Norman Giller, Billy Wright's official biographer, please show your respect to Billy by putting a message in his memorial book.

Hello Gavin,

Just to let you know that I have recently added a Memorial Book to the Billy Wright website (www.billywright.co.uk). I would appreciate it if you could leave a tribute to Billy in the Book (on top of the one you have already kindly provided for the main pages of the website). Eventually, I shall print out the Memorial Book and present it to Joy Beverley Wright in small album form as a surprise gift. She is not into websites, and relies on her daughters to tell her what is on line. I want her to 'feel' the love and respect that is still around for her Billy.

Kindest regards
Norman Giller

Wolves: Boss Dave Jones prepares to name an unchanged team again, although he does accept that "fatigue" could be a factor in his final selection.
Gillingham: have doubts about ex-Wolves Simon Osborn and their defender Barry Ashby.

Manager of the Month

Wolves boss Dave Jones has been named Division One Manager of the Month for the second time this season. Six straight wins has got him the title for February, he won it in September after Wolves won five and drew one.
Let's hope the curse of 'Manager of the Month' which usually ends teams winning runs after the manager wins the award doesn't strike at Molineux.
A delighted Jones said: "Everyone at the club has pulled together and worked brilliantly. It has been a huge team effort and at this stage of the season it is great to have won six Nationwide League matches on the bounce.
"We have aimed for the top from the first day of the season and we are now aiming for the championship."
