Mark Kennedy is returning to
training today after he broke down during a practice session last Friday
fearing his groin injury had deteriorated, and didn't travel to the first
leg of the play-offs at Norwich. The winger went to see a specialist in
Manchester yesterday who told him the problem has not got worse.
Alex Rae is fit after taking a knock on Sunday, he trained yesterday with
no problems.

Molineux Sold Out
Wolves have sold out of
tickets for Wednesday's second leg of the play-off semi-final at Molineux
against Norwich. The last tickets were snapped up yesterday.
Match Reaction
The Wolves
boss was not impressed by yesterday's referee
he said: "I thought he was absolutely atrocious," said
Jones, the news that Furnandiz was to retire after the play-offs coming as
little comfort."
"I don't know how I end up with four bookings and I will go as far as
to say he is not physically fit to referee in this division or any
division."
"He was running around there like an old tug boat."
"The referee did not cost me the game or anything like that, but at
this level you have to be fit - and he is not fit."
"It wasn't a dirty game. I don't think there has been one bad tackle
in the 90 minutes and yet I have ended up with four bookings - that I
don't understand."
"But I am not blaming him for the result. They got the result and
they got the goals."
"But you talk about having fit referees and professional referees, he
is a prime example that he needs to be fitter."
"And if they do a referee's test, then I would like to be there when
he does it because he was tugging away there."
Jones was also less than impressed with Norwich printing directions to the
Millennium Stadium in the match programme."
Asked if he thought the feature "smacked of arrogance", Jones
replied: "It certainly did, but we did not take our opportunity."
"Now we have an opportunity on Wednesday night to put that right."
"We will have fantastic support and everyone behind us - and we have
to turn the tables on them now."

say that West Brom will stay in the Premiership for the next 3 seasons......
Autumn, Winter and Spring!!!!!
Injuries Update
Wolves midfielder Keith Andrews
will be out for three months after undergoing surgery yesterday on a
troublesome knee injury. If his recovery goes as planned he's expected to
return for the start of next season.
Striker George Ndah is also set for surgery on his double hernia, while
Wales international Carl Robinson is still on the road to recovery after
knee surgery.
Dave Jones is confident that winger Mark Kennedy will be back to full
fitness for this weekend's play-off clash with Norwich and Jones could also
include fit again Kevin Muscat tot he side, he was banned for 3 games then
forced out with an Achilles injury
Michael Branch has returned to
Molineux after his months loan to Reading. The striker made just two
substitute appearances for them.
24th April 2002
Loan Players Return
On loan defender Jacob Laursen
has returned to Leicester after he didn't make an appearance during his
loan spell at Molineux.
Laursen left Leicester for Wolves before the transfer deadline and is now
likely to return to his native Denmark where a clutch of clubs are keen to
land him.
City boss Micky Adams does not see the experienced defender as part of his
plans for next season and manager Dave Jones has decided not to keep him
for the play-off campaign.
Striker Colin Larkin has
returned to Molineux following his eight month loan with Kidderminster, he
says the experience has been of a tremendous benefit to him. He played 35
times for Harriers and scored seven goals.
23rd April 2002
Sir Jack to Stay
Sir Jack Hayward has said he
will remain in control at Molineux next season even if Wolves don't make
it to the Premiership. It was thought at the start of this season he was
having one last go at getting Wolves promoted when he gave manager Dave
Jones a £15 million transfer kitty, taking his spending on the club to
around £50 million.
He said: "I will still be here even if we are in Division One again.
No-one has been calling for the head of the chairman!"
Golden Bonus
Wolves players could get a £1m
bonus if they get through the play-offs and reach the Premiership. The
board of directors changed the club’s bonus structure and approved the
reward at the start of the season, it could see first team regulars like
Michael Oakes receiving a £60,000 bonus because the
playing staff will share the pool based on appearances.
Chief executive Jez Moxey who
negotiated the terms of the ‘golden’ bonus with a group of senior pros
said: "We wanted the bonus scheme to reward success. So, with the
players agreement, we did away with win or draw bonuses if the team were
outside the top six, and increased the payments, compared to previous
years, if they were."
"We also offered a one-off carrot of £1m if they secured
promotion."
"It’s a lot of money to pay but we would be happy to do it as we
would have achieved our top flight ambition."
The sum of around £60,000 per
player on offer is in addition to any bonus individual players would
receive as a part of their own specific contracts.

Match Reaction
Dave Jones said after
yesterday's match: "I was perhaps wondering what to say to the
players to lift them after the game, but when they went back out onto the
pitch to applaud our fans, seeing all those supporters has lifted
them."
"But now we have to do it the hard way - it's as simple as that. I
don't feel I will have to say anything to them because I am sure they will
lift themselves anyway for the games with Norwich."
"At the end of the day our performance was irrelevant, but the one
thing I know is that the players gave their all. I couldn't have asked for
anything more."
"It would have been difficult as a player to keep going and going
knowing West Brom were 2-0 in front.
"But all credit to my players because that is exactly what they did
do and so I know character-wise I have no problems with them
whatsoever."
Jones added: "Myself and my staff are very positive and we are not
going to throw away a full season by not coming in and remaining
positive."
"The first person the players see is either myself or one of my staff
and if we are down, then they are going to be down, so we have to keep a
positive outlook."

Molineux at 2pm this afternoon. Mark Kennedy and Nathan Blake are traveling
to Sheffield.
Sheff Wed: defender
Leigh Bromby is winning his battle to be fit after being out
since February.
The youngster's availability would be a boost for manager Terry Yorath who
is without centre-backs Danny Maddix and Derek Geary.
Wolves: are without the
banned Paul Butler and injured George Ndah.
Nathan Blake and Mark Kennedy both trained on Friday morning but boss Dave
Jones will have to wait and see if there are any reactions to their
injuries.

2 Day's To Go
Alex Rae will be captaining
Wolves against Shefield Wednesday because Paul Butler is suspended.
He said: "It's all boiled down to Sunday's games and there's going to
be a lot of tension in both teams."
"But I think West Brom will be under most pressure. They know that if
they win, they'll take second place. We can only do our best and wait to
see what's happening at The Hawthorns."
"It would be bad enough to lose out on promotion, but to miss out to
West Brom of all teams would be awful for the fans and players
alike."

Match Reaction
Dave Jones said on WOW about
yesterdays win: "The most important thing for us was that we live to

"It was a tough game and not the best to watch. There wasn't a lot of
football played out there but we dug in and for effort and endeavor I
can't fault the players."
"I decided after the Millwall game to play Blakey today because we
needed a big man up front," he said. "He kicked the ground just
before he scored and hurt his ankle but he hoped he could run it off. But
that wasn't the case."
Sir Jack has made his
prediction for the last game of the season! "West Brom will lose 4-0

Kevin Muscat has completed his three-match ban, but is out because he has
a niggling Achilles injury, Gunnar Halle will again replace him.

Arsenal Linked with Lescott
Dave Jones couldn't believe
this mornings press reports linking Wolves young defender Joleon Lescott
and Arsenal. The reports quote a £4 million price tag for Lescott and
boss Jones joked "would that be the first of 12 monthly
payments?"
Lescott had already been linked with Spurs but Dave Jones said: "The
truth is that no club has contacted us about him. He has a long contract
here and is looked upon as a vital part of our plans for the
future."

Reserves and Youth Results
Wolves reserves were beaten
3-0 at Tranmere Rovers. The young Wolves side had good efforts from Tony
McStea, Sammy Clingan and Jimmi Lee Jones but they couldn't find their way
past veteran keeper Eric Nixon.
The home side opened the scoring a minute before the break through Alex
Hay, who found the target with a shot from the edge of the box.
They increased their lead midway through the second half when Danny
Harrison headed home at the near post.
And the result was sealed 15 minutes from time when fit-again defender
Darren Bazeley put the ball into the back of his own net.

despite winning 3-0 against Millwall, Blackburn Rovers took a point from
their game with Derby County meaning that the Lancashire club finished on
seven points – one ahead of Wolves – and they go through to the
quarter-finals of the Academy competition.
Ashley Vincent opened the scoring after 64 minutes when he converted from
eight yards. Then, ten minutes later, Ashley created our second when he
pulled the ball back from the by-line for Leon to score from near the
penalty spot. The third goal came in the 79th minute when Leon’s shot
was blocked and Lewis Goburn latched onto the loose ball and found the
back of the net.
The under 19s played at
Bristol City on the weekend and had the ball in the net three times, but
the game finished 0-0. Two of the goals were disallowed for offside and
one for an infringement. Also Nick Clark hit the bar, Andy Morrow the post
and Mark Clyde had a shot cleared off the line.
10th April 2002
Muscat Comeback Doubtful
Kevin Muscat has finished his
three match suspension, but he has a sore Achilles and is struggling to be
fit to face Wimbledon on Sunday as he hasn't been able to train this week.
Ludo Pollet will return to action tonight in Wolves reserves after his
head injury. Wolves need Pollet fit for the final game of the season when
Butler is suspended after his red card.
9th April 2002
No Call Up
Wolves Scottish duo Colin
Cameron and Kenny Miller haven't been named in the final Scottish
International team line-up released by the Scotland manager. Berti Vogts’
did name them in the provisional squad to face Nigeria in Aberdeen on 17th
April. There was no approach made by Wolves to request that the players
would not be called upon.
8th April 2002
Injuries Update
Defender Joleon Lescott has
been forced to withdraw from the England under 20s squad due to a back
injury. The defender picked up the
injury during the match with with Man City and the condition was
aggravated during the match at Millwall, but he should be fit for Wolves
match against Wimbledon.
Winger Mark Kennedy could be
fit to help Wolves promotion challenge, he is due to resume full training
with the squad by Friday. He's been out since picking up a groin strain in
March against Grimsby.
Midfielder Alex Rae should
have recovered from a thigh injury for Sunday's clash with Wimbledon. He
was forced off in last Friday's match at Millwall with the injury.
7th April 2002
Wolves Drop to Third
Wolves dropped down to third
place and out of an automatic promotion place after West Brom drew with
Rotherham to take them one point above Wolves. They could have got three
points from the game but they had a goal disallowed because the ref said
the ball didn't cross the line when a Rotherham defender cleared it, but
it had obviously crossed the line!!
6th April 2002
Match Reaction
After yesterday's match,
Wolves boss Jones was disappointed his team could not get a point out of
the game.
"I think we did enough to
get something from the game," said Jones, who had no qualms over the
penalty award. "I can't argue with that one. We probably had enough
chances to get something from the game," he said.
"Full credit to them, they just kept rushing us and keeping us as far
away from their goal as they could."
"We've got a couple of days to think it over and wait for West Brom
to play."
"There's still a lot of twists and turns to go. We will just keep
ourselves going and we will bounce back."

has been called up for the England under 20s match in Portugal on
Wednesday 10th April. He made a successful debut for the under 20s last
month against Finland at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium.
He said: "I’m delighted to have been selected for the squad again.
It’s an honour to play for England at any level."
"I enjoyed the game against Finland but I think that Portugal will
give us a much stiffer test. Obviously, I don’t know whether or not
I’ll be picked to play, but it’s good just to be involved with the
squad."
Also provisionally called up for Internationals are Colin Cameron and
Kenny Miller to the Scottish squad, they are playing Nigeria in Aberdeen
on Wednesday 17th April.

Crisis Meeting
Wolves Chief executive Jez
Moxey is traveling to London to join chairmen and chief executives
of all the Nationwide First Division clubs in a meeting to discuss the
current crisis in football that has come about following collapse of ITV
Digital.
Jez said: "We are all
concerned about the problems facing ITV Digital and it’s important that
we discuss the situation in detail.
"I therefore welcome the opportunity to try and establish the
Football League’s legal position in relation to the contracts with ITV
Digital and, in particular, its parent companies – Granada PLC and
Carlton PLC.
"I have also had the opportunity to speak with the Football
Association and the Premier League and they too are very concerned and are
prepared to assist, where they can, in helping find a suitable solution.
"This problem is a problem for everyone in football and not just the
Nationwide League clubs."
Match Reaction
Dave Jones said after the
match yesterday: "No matter what happens this afternoon, we will
still be in second spot tonight."
"We are disappointed today, but we’ve worked all season for this
and we’re going to carry on. We won’t throw it away now."
"The goals were sloppy ones to give away. The first came off a
defender (Butler) and we gave the ball away on the edge of the area for
the second."
"We won the ball well enough but it was the final pass around the box
that let us down. We lost our discipline a bit."
"It wasn’t a game with lots of chances - although Oakes was the
busier of the two keepers."
"Some times you just have to give credit where it’s due and they
deserved the three points. If it turns out that they go up this afternoon
then they will have deserved that too."
