Cameron Injury Update

There has been good news about midfielder Colin Cameron after reports this morning that he'd been injured in last night's international in Denmark.
Wolves boss Dave Jones said on WOW: "I've spoken to Colin on the phone and he told me he came off because his ankle felt stiff. But he said he was hopeful that he'd be OK for the weekend. We'll get him checked out and see what the situation is nearer the game."

International Update

Midfielder Colin Cameron was substituted at half-time in Scotland's 1-0 defeat against Denmark. Reports from Copenhagen suggest Cameron may have picked up an injury in last night's international friendly.
Striker Vio Ganea played 83 minutes of Romania’s 5-1 victory over Germany.
Midfielder Joey Gudjonsson came on as substitute in the 69th minute of Iceland's 0-0 draw with Latvia Riga.
Neither Mark Clyde (Northern Ireland) or Henri Camara (Senegal) traveled for their International teams.

Iversen Wanted Back Home

Norway coach Aage Hareide wants Wolves striker Steffen Iversen to move back to his former club Rosenborg in a bid to get his career back on track.
The striker has fallen out of favour at Molineux, where he has made a total of 20 appearances and scored four goals this season.
Iversen's lack of activity has cast further doubts over his international future, and Hareide - who left Rosenborg at the end of last season to take over the national team - believes a return to his roots will help kick-start his career.

"Normally a match-fit Steffen Iversen would be an obvious choice in any national team squad. But as long as he is not playing for his club, he has no chance of being considered," the Norway coach told Adresseavisen.
"I think it is sad what has happened with Steffen, and I hope he will consider returning to Rosenborg. But he has to be motivated for it.
"He has ended up in a very unfortunate situation at Wolves. He should go back to Rosenborg and find himself again.
"He knows the style of play in Rosenborg, and he could easily again become the player we know he is when he is at his best."

Iversen has insisted he wants to continue playing abroad for the foreseeable future, although his agent Erik Soler has revealed there have been no firm offers for the player whose deal at Wolves expires in June.

Boss Charged By FA

Wolves boss Dave Jones has been charged with bringing the game into disrepute by the FA, because of his comments about referee Uriah Rennie.
Jones called Rennie "arrogant" after the official turned down two penalty appeals during Wolves 2-1 home defeat by Bolton on 12th April at Molineux.
An FA statement revealed Jones had been charged with "failing to act in the best interests of the game and bringing the game into disrepute".
He has until 13th May to respond and will request a personal hearing with the FA.
Dave Jones said: "I look forward to the opportunity of being able to state my case before the FA and explaining why I said some of the things I did."

Birmingham Senior Cup

Moor Green beat Wolves 1-0  in the Birmingham Senior Cup final yesterday at Molineux.
The only goal of the game came in the 24th minute from a free-kick. Frain curled the free-kick but it was brilliantly fingertipped onto the post by Wolves keeper Ikeme, but luck was against he keeper as the ball bounced back into the centre of the goalmouth to Davis who hooked it home from inside the six-yard box.

Wolves: Ikeme, Goodhead, Bradley, Townsend, Lowe, Watson, Fitzpatrick (Musson 53), O’Connor, Mulligan, Barnes-Homer, Jones (Riley 80).

Camara FA Hearing

Wolves will be requesting a personal hearing with the Football Association to try and save in-form striker Henri Camara from a three-match ban.
Camara is facing the charge after a tackle he made on Jason Dodd of Southampton earlier this month.
He was booked for the challenge but referee Mark Halsey subsequently viewed video evidence and decided it was worthy of a sending off.

If Camara's punishment is upgraded, Wolves can decide whether to start the suspension immediately meaning he would miss Wolves three remaining games against Everton, Newcastle and Tottenham. Or wait for 14 days so it would be held over until the start of next season.

Boss Dave Jones said on WOW: "We just want the hearing out of the way. We are obviously fighting the charge but you can't pre-empt anything. We just have to put forward our defence of Henri and see what happens."

26th April 2004

Match Reaction

Wolves boss Dave Jones said after the 2-2 draw: "For the first 30 minutes we totally dominated the game and it was a great goal from Cams - it would have been a great goal at any level because the movement and the finish were superb.
"But we were guilty of lazy play for both of their goals and we let them get back into it before half-time.
"Then, in the second half, we battled and scrapped and deserved our goal.
"We could even have taken all three points right at the death when we had a couple of good opportunities but we just lacked that little bit of quality and composure."

Not Enough Investment

Wolves chairman Rick Hayward believes Wolves failed to give manager Dave Jones enough resources to survive in The Premiership this season, he believes much-needed investment was necessary to survive in the top flight.
Hayward pointed to Wolves late entry into The Premiership through the Division One play-offs last season as one reason for the club's shortcomings this term.

He said: "It's been very difficult. We had a month less to prepare because we were in the play-offs.
"We didn't give Dave Jones enough time to prepare and we needed to give him more money to compete this season.
"We didn't give him everything he needed as we should have last June.
"You need to invest in this division. That's the only way to do it."

Hayward also stressed that the club will not exceed their means in order to be successful.
"We have to run this club in a sensible way - as a proper business," he added.
"One of the problems is that we have chopped and changed too much (over the years).
"We have no debt, we own 100 percent of the club and we will be coming back up.
"It's not easy at all, but we're prepared for whatever the circumstances.
"We are in good nick with our situation at present."

Team News

Wolves: boss Dave Jones is relatively untroubled by injury concerns with only Mark Clyde battling to shake off a troublesome calf strain. Veteran Denis Irwin is set to deputise.
In-form Carl Cort and Henri Camara will continue to spearhead Wolves' attack, with industrious midfielder Alex Rae having to settle for a place on the bench.

Birmingham boss Steve Bruce is likely to be without David Dunn, who has failed to recover from a hamstring strain.
Also missing for Blues are Stan Lazaridis (groin), Martin Grainger (knee), Darren Purse (ankle) and Darren Carter (hernia).
Bruce is however handed relief with the news that Robbie Savage has shaken off an ankle injury and will start.

Irwin Set To Retire

Wolves manager Dave Jones has said that Denis Irwin is certain to retire at the end of the season.
The former Republic of Ireland defender is to hang up his boots at Molineux even if Wolves do manage to stay up, there is no prospect that he will postpone his retirement.

Dave Jones said: "I don't need to ask Denis.
"He will not go on for another year.
"His body is telling him that the time to stop has arrived.
"He will have learnt that not every club has the facilities or players that Manchester United have.
"He has probably played more games in the two years he has been here than in his last five years at Manchester United. He has run himself into the ground for Wolves and himself because that is the type of person he is."

But Irwin's former Old Trafford colleague Paul Ince will take outside advice before deciding whether to play on next season.

The Guvnor said: "It's possible I'll play on as I'm doing alright.
"But I do believe that, at my age, you have to look at the press and at what the fans think.
"If they reckon you're past it, you have to take that into consideration."

Rae Summer Departure

Wolves midfielder Alex Rae has assured fans he remains committed to Wolves’ survival battle, despite considering a summer move to Glasgow Rangers.
Rae has admitted to having talks with the Scottish club, but says he will not make a decision on his future until this season is over.

As a youngster Rae was at Ibrox during Graeme Souness' time but was let go and signed for Falkirk before moving south of the border to Millwall, Sunderland and Wolves.
He is a self-confessed Rangers fan and admitted recently that he would seriously consider any offer to play for his boyhood heroes next season and a return to Scotland on a free transfer now looks likely for Rae.

He said on WOW: “I want to speak to Rangers again but not until this season’s business is complete.
“I want to keep my head down and concentrate on playing for Wolves. We still have a chance of surviving the drop and I am totally focused on that.
“The Wolves fans have been great to me during my time here and I want them to know that I am not going to be distracted by any talk of signing for Rangers.
"I’ll make a decision on my future in the summer, but in the meantime I’m totally committed to Wolves.”

Manager Dave Jones added: “Alex has explained the situation to me. Anyone who has seen him in action knows what a genuine player he is. I don’t doubt for a minute he will continue to give his all to Wolves between now and the end of the season.”

Players Linked

Wolves are the latest club to be linked with Norwegian international Brede Hangeland.
Hangeland is set to leave Norwegian football some time during 2004 and is keen to play in one of Europe's top leagues. He seems to have no preference between England, Italy or Spain
Hangeland's agent Jim Solbakken has confirmed Wolves are keen on the stopper but admits talks between the clubs have yet to commence.

Wolves are also reportedly interested in Brann's Nigerian international Seyi Olofinjana, chief scout Terry Connor has already been tasked with finding players for next season.
Connor was present for the match against Molde and saw Olofinjana score one of the goals in a 3-0 victory.

Connor is also expected to take the chance to watch Viking's Brede Hangeland.

Camara Staying

Wolves in-form striker Henri Camara has pledged his future to Wolves even if they do get relegated from The Premiership.
Boss Dave Jones admitted that he is keen to keep Camara at Molinuex even if some clubs are interested in him after his recent rich vein of form scoring five goals in five games.
Camara admits he is keen to stay in The Premiership, but is happy to stay at Wolves if they do drop into Division One.

He said: "It is very important to me to stay in the Premiership and that is why I am trying my best to help the team stay there, but I am happy here and want to stay at Wolves no matter what.
"If we win all our games now then we still have a chance and we are all in good spirits after Saturday's win.
"It is all about hard work and you have to keep that up to do well in anything. At the moment I have confidence and I think I can keep my run going. I am happy with my play and I like the fact that I am doing well for the team.
"I am pleased that the fans are happy with me. I understand when the supporters sing my name and they are the driving force when I play."

Under 19s Result

Wolves under 19s lost their final match of the season 1-0 to Liverpool on Saturday, at Compton Park.

The only goal of the game came with just five minutes left. Wolves conceded a free-kick, which was crossed into the box and only half cleared. Then one of the Liverpool strikers latched on to it and scored from eight-yards.

18th April 2004

Match Reaction

Wolves boss Dave Jones insists his side can still fashion a great escape from relegation.
Carl Cort and Henri Camara sealed a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough which kept Jones' men clinging to their survival lifeline.
And Jones hailed his players for refusing to give up the fight until a return to the Nationwide League becomes a mathematical certainty.

Jones said: "It is not impossible and that is the biggest thing you cling on to.
"My players are doing everything I am asking of them and suddenly it doesn't look quite so far away now.
"Regardless of what happens the last thing you want to say to yourself at the end of the season is 'if only we'd kept going'."

And Jones hailed Senegal striker Camara whose fifth goal in as many games wrapped up victory and made him the club's leading scorer this season.
Jones added: "Henri has always shown huge potential but his problem was that he was so erratic in front of goal.
"It was a brave decision to come here because he spoke no English but the kid is so willing to learn.
"When he went through that spell when he was missing a lot of chances everybody still believed in him because you always know when you are seeing a good player."

Team News

Wolves: midfield star Alex Rae is back from suspension and will almost certainly come into the midfield, with fellow Scot Colin Cameron the most likely to step down.
Central defender Paul Butler will take his place in the side, despite having a broken nose, while youngster Mark Clyde will undergo a fitness test before kick-off.

Middlesbrough: manager Steve McClaren could very well have the luxury of naming the same side which won 3-1 last time out against Southampton.
The one change could come in central defence, where Colin Cooper has been filling in fantastically in recent weeks, but Chris Riggott may be handed a recall if he recovers from his back injury.
If Cooper does play, then it will be a landmark 400th appearance for Boro.
Stuart Parnaby should also recover from injury, but he is only likely to claim a place on the bench.
Joseph-Desire Job and Doriva both look set to continue on the sidelines as they struggle to overcome hamstring and groin injuries respectively.

Pair In Trouble With FA

Wolves boss Dave Jones and striker Henri Camara could find themselves in trouble with The Football Association.

Dave Jones has been asked to explain comments he made about referee Uriah Rennie following Wolves controversial defeat to Bolton.
Rennie turned down two penalty appeals from Wolves to leave Jones fuming and he has described his performance as "diabolical" and branded the official "arrogant".

Jones is standing by his comments feeling he said nothing wrong and could face a hefty fine for his outburst.
"There are some quotes that have appeared which I didn't say but I am happy to write down the ones I did," said Jones.
"I made my feelings clear but I don't think I was abusive or derogatory."

Henri Camara has been charged with misconduct for his tackle on Southampton's Jason Dodd, which has put him out for the rest of the season.
He was booked for the dangerous tackle on Dodd, but The FA have decided to act after watching television footage of the incident. Camara has 14 days to appeal, and could be handed a three-match suspension if he is found guilty of misconduct.

14th April 2004

Ref Could Be Suspended

Referee Uriah Rennie could face suspension after his controversial performance in Wolves match against Bolton on Monday at Molineux.
The game is now likely to be investigated and Keith Hackett, manager of the Premier League referees, admits he is prepared to drop officials for poor performances. Rennie has previously been demoted from The Premiership earlier in his career.

''I'd like to remind everyone that these are professional referees,'' said Hackett.
''I have the right to withdraw appointments and The FA have the power to suspend officials. That has happened this year.
''Where there is an area of controversy, decisions will be looked at - and that takes place quickly.''

Wolves boss Jones described Rennie as 'arrogant' and stated that he believed the official should be punished for a poor performance.
''He should be suspended but he won't be,'' declared Jones.

Fixture Update

Wolves match against Newcastle Utd at St James Park has now been confirmed as Sunday 9th May, with a 3pm kick-off. It is to be played a day later than originally scheduled as Newcastle are through to the semi-final of the UEFA Cup. They play Marseille in the semi-final and the second leg will be played on Thursday 6th May, entitling them to a 24 hour postponement of the Wolves game.

13th April 2004

St Joseph’s International Youth Tournament

Wolves youth squad finished fourth in this years St Joseph’s International Youth Tournament that they won last year. It took place near St Etienne on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Wolves were without four of their regulars Ashley Vincent, Mark Davies, Lewis Govern and Chris Cornes, through injury, plus Leon Clarke who is on loan to Kidderminster, leaving them with just 17 fit players.

Their first game against Boavista of Portugal, finished as a goalless draw.
But in their second match they beat Parma of Italy 1-0, Jon Steele getting the winning goal, and in the final group match it a one all draw with St Etienne who equalised just before the end after Daniel Jones had put Wolves in front.

They played Deportivo La Coruna in the semi-final but lost 2-0. All the games were played for 25 minutes each way.

Coach John Perkins said on WOW: "I was pleased with the overall performance especially as the standard of football played was a lot higher than last season.
“Kevin O’Connor was outstanding throughout and Gary Mulligan was named as the best forward in the tournament.”

Fan Banned

From Wolves Official Website WOW:

The supporter that ran onto the Molineux pitch to remonstrate with referee Uriah Rennie after Bolton’s late winning goal on Monday, is to be banned indefinitely by the club.
James Davison, of Telford, was apprehended by stewards and taken to the police cells at the back of the Jack Harris Stand before being handed over to the police.
The club will today send him a letter informing him of its decision.

Club secretary Richard Skirrow said: “No matter how high emotions are running, behaviour like this is unacceptable. Supporters have to stay within the confines of ground regulations.
“But we are pleased that the stewarding and security operation prevented any further problems.”

Match Reaction

Furious Wolves manager Dave Jones branded referee Uriah Rennie "an arrogant man" after the official's controversial handling of the game with Bolton at Molineux.
Jones had seen Henri Camara's spectacular equaliser cancel a Henrik Pedersen opener before half-time, but it was Kevin Davies who won the game for the Trotters after having broken clear late in the game.
But the Wolves boss - who already has history with Rennie after having criticised the official's performance in the 2-0 defeat at Southampton in September - was convinced the outcome would have been different had Wolves' three claims for penalties been upheld.

Wolves' first penalty appeal had come with just 58 seconds gone when Mark Kennedy went down under a challenge from Stelios Giannakopoulos, and in the 85th minute the hosts appealed for a second spot-kick following keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen's challenge on Paul Butler.
There were more shouts for a penalty when Kenny Miller tangled with Emerson Thome, although Rennie was again unimpressed.

"For me to show anger, there's got to have been something really serious gone on in the game," said Jones.
"We should have had two penalties and there was a good shout for a third.
"I know Uriah, he'll expect me to have a drink and a chat with him afterwards, and I've no qualms about playing in his charity golf days although I might be tempted to wrap my five-iron around his neck.
"But this isn't about friendship, this is about business and when he comes to work I expect him to do his job properly.
"He'll probably go home as happy as Larry, but his performance was unacceptable at any level of football, it was diabolical.
"If I lose a football game I'm expected to come out and explain why, and I'm happy to do that, so if he has a bad game he should explain himself.
"But he's an arrogant man - it was as if the game was all about him and that's not the first time that's happened to us with him this season."

Paul Ince echoed the Wolves boss' thoughts on Wolves defeat at home to Bolton, accusing referee Uriah Rennie of failing to give two penalty appeals which could have changed the home side’s fortunes.
Ince said: "We feel hard done by – there were two good shouts for penalties from us today but none were given.
"The first was a blatant penalty. We’re professional footballers and we don’t get paid to fall over. Referee’s get paid to make decisions but he failed to do that today.
"Mark Kennedy is not a diver and something must have made him fall.
"Then there was the one in the last minute with Kenny Miller. The guy was all over him and Kenny was just getting pulled back. Maybe he (Uriah Rennie) didn’t give them because they happened in the first and last minutes. It takes a lot of bottle to give a penalty at the start of a game."

"It’s just so frustrating, you work hard for 90 minutes but then in this League that’s not enough. Decisions like we had today can lose you games and we don’t deserve that, neither do our fans.
"We just have to do better but for some reason we lose our concentration in the last few minutes and that’s not good enough. We can’t keep saying we’re unlucky, at this level you need to play for 95 minutes.
"It’s hard now, I suppose when you look at it it’s nigh on impossible, but I’m not a pessimist. You have to keep believing and keep fighting until the last and we have to do that. It will take a Houdini act to get out of it but anything’s possible."

Wolves: major injury doubt is young defender Mark Clyde who was forced off early in their last match with a reoccurrence of a knee injury.
Henri Camara and Carl Cort are both likely to start up front again after finding the net in the 3-3 draw on Saturday.

Bolton: boss Sam Allardyce may look to shuffle his pack after a recent poor run of form and both Ivan Campo and Nicky Hunt could come back into the starting XI.
Defender Simon Charlton could miss the match at Molineux with a groin problem.

Match Reaction

Wolves boss Dave Jones was particularly annoyed at the way his side failed to get the ball away from goal once Camara had struck and with just seconds remaining, Wright-Phillips supplied the worst possible ending, driving home a first-time shot after the visitors defence had failed to clear a Michael Tarnat free-kick.

"I keep telling my players that if the ball is 60 or 70 yards away from our goal, the other side can't score unless they wheel out a cannon," bemoaned Jones.
"We are still trying to pass our way out of trouble and it is a lesson we don't appear to learn.
"I can't fault the players for effort but after that result I feel very low.
"We were written off before Christmas but we are still in there fighting.
"While there is a chance we will keep hoping. We have to rely on other teams to help us but we will keep battling and scrapping and trying to play football. The problem is, in the 93rd minute of a game like that, playing football is the last thing we should be thinking about."

Team News

Man City: boss Kevin Keegan will be missing from the dug-out again as his back injury forces him to stay at home and rest.
Arthur Cox will continue to stand in for the absent City manager after taking control of the club's last two league fixtures that have both ended in draws.

Strike duo Robbie Fowler and Nicolas Anelka will be hoping they will be recalled to the starting XI after being surprisingly left out of the side that played against Aston Villa last weekend.

The major injury doubt for City is midfielder Claudio Reyna who is struggling with a groin problem and will have a late fitness test to decide his availability.

Wolves: midfielder Alex Rae is definitely missing through suspension which could hand fellow Scot Colin Cameron a rare chance to start alongside Paul Ince in the middle.
Defender Paul Butler has been passed fit to play, although the Black Country outfit have received a blow with the news that Nathan Blake will miss the rest of the season with a neck injury.

Camara Apology

From the Wolves Official Website WOW:

Henri Camara has apologised over last Saturday’s tackle on Jason Dodd. The clash resulted in the Southampton skipper being stretchered from the pitch but Wolves’ Senegalese international insists the incident was accidental.

"I was very sorry about what happened - there was never any malice meant or any intention to foul him,” says Henri.
"I was running very fast to tackle him and thought he would sidestep the tackle.
"I was horrified when he did not move out of the way and could not stop myself as I had already started to slide with one of my feet up - which is how he took the full force of my studs on his knee.
"I apologised straight away after the incident and went to see the player in the medical room after the match to apologise to him again."

Reserves Win

Wolves reserves beat Blackburn reserves 3-1 last night at Morecambe’s Christie Park.
In first-half stoppage time, Wolves took the lead after Matthew Barnes-Homer had been fouled by Jonathan Douglas near the right-hand corner of the Rovers area. Clingan played a short free-kick to Oleg Luzhny on the overlap and his cross was met by Michael Townsend whose looping header went just inside the post.
Wolves went two up in the 55th minute, Townsend’s deep cross from the left was nodded down by Iversen to Barnes-Homer who held off a defender before drilling a low shot into the corner of the net.
But ten minutes later Jansen pulled one back for Rovers when he beat the offside trap as he ran onto Peter’s pass and he made no mistake shooting past Carl Ikeme from close range.
Stewart got Wolves third after coming on with 15 minutes to go, he finished from a tight angle following Barnes-Homer’s low precision cross three minutes from time.

Next Season

Wolves new chairman Rick Hayward is struggling to bring new investors into Molineux after his board re-shuffle - and boss Dave Jones is hoping Hayward will provide the money needed to rebuild the club's squad during the summer months.
The Wolves boss has assured supporters the overhaul of players will go ahead but has warned it will be slow unless money is available.
And Chairman Hayward has yet to announce they have their first major ally on board.

Dave Jones said: "If this club wants to go places, you have got to build. But we have not been building for the last 18 months because of the financial restrictions. Hopefully things will improve."

On a more positive note Wolves Senegalese star Henri Camara has insisted he will stay at Molineux if the club are relegated.
He said: "At this stage I am happy to stay.
"I am enjoying life and am settled in Wolverhampton.
"My prime objective has always been to score in every game and that hasn't happened.
"But I have been playing in a different position and a lot of my chances I have had to make for myself.
"I'm doing a lot more defending than I used to, and every time we go forward Paul Ince is shouting to call me back!
"It was very difficult at first because it goes against my natural instincts but now I have got used to it.
"Mentally I have always been a strong person but at times it has been difficult to push my lack of goals to the back of my mind.
"But now I've found the net again my confidence is back to a level it has not been for some time and that's what an attacker needs.
"The fans have also been chanting my name and that too makes me feel very happy.
"It's looking tough for Wolves but we've still got the majority of games at home and that can make a big difference."

Rae Tempted By Rangers

Wolves midfielder Alex Rae admits he could be tempted to move to Rangers in the summer if the Ibrox club make him an offer.
Rae is a self-confessed Rangers fan and the opportunity to play for his boyhood heroes could prove too great to turn down.

He told the Scottish Mirror: "I am still a Rangers supporter and if there is something on the table from them then it is obviously something I would have to look at.
"I have been away from Scotland for a long time so there would be a lot to think about but Rangers would be something I would definitely have to consider.
"I haven't ruled anything in or out but I'm going to wait until the summer and then see what is on the table then."

If Rangers did move for the influential midfielder, they could be helped by the fact that Wolves have refused to discuss new contracts with players until they know which division they are playing in.

However Rae added: "Wolves have said that they want to keep several of us players out of contract in the summer."

Butler Injury Update

Wolves defender Paul Butler was had to play with his hand strapped in Saturday's match against Southampton, after it was feared he had broken his thumb.
But after further medical examinations, it has been confirmed that he has suffered only ligament damage and not a break as first feared.

He said on WOW: ''My thumb went right back and I thought at first it was broken.
''The physio bandaged it up and I got through the game but I had to have it X-rayed afterwards.
''Luckily there was no break and I'm hoping everything will be alright for the weekend. At the moment it's very painful.''

Wolves physio Barry Holmes has confirmed that Butler should be available for the club's crucial Premiership clashes later this week.
''He didn't train today (Monday) and his hand is very tender,'' confirmed Holmes.
''But we're hoping it'll settle down and, with some strapping, there's no reason why he shouldn't join in the preparations for the Bolton and Manchester City games later in the week.''

Youth Results

A young Wolves under 19s drew 1-1 with Huddersfield Town under 19s at Compton Park on Saturday, included in the starting line-up where five under 17s and an under 16.

Huddersfield took the lead after just five minutes, Chris Cornes lost possession in midfield allowing a Huddersfield player to run through and score.

Cornes was substituted with ankle ligament damage, and  his replacement, Jordan Fitzpatrick put Wolves level after 35 minutes. He took a pass from Kevin O’Connor and hit a screamer into the top corner from 20-yards.

New Deal For Rae

Wolves midfielder Alex Rae who is one of the players out of contract in the summer, has revealed he could sign a new deal at Molineux after he was told the club are keen to keep him.
Rangers and some English clubs have been linked with the Scottish midfielder, but Rae is going to listen to Wolves to see what they have on offer for him.

He Said: "Wolves have said that they want to keep several of us players out of contract in the summer.
"I've had a decent season and I'm pleased with my goalscoring, eight so far this campaign.
"It's a matter of seeing what's on the table in the summer and assessing the situation then."

Match Reaction

Defeat at Molineux left Wolves still propping up the Premiership, six points adrift of safety, and manager Dave Jones was left to reflect on the naivety which cost his strugglers dear.

"We played too much neat football, too many five-yard passes and I don't understand that because we have enough experience on the park to play ugly at times," he said.
"How many square balls did we we play today which were cut out?
"You can't play square balls because they'll be cut out at this level, that's why it's a pass the opposition will invite you to make and that's where we have to be a little bit cuter.
"Southampton had strikers who gave our back four the runaround in certain parts of the game but they're used to playing at this level and know how to mix their game up.
"We didn't mix it up enough but we did get a goal and then had them under pressure.
"But then we reverted to five-yard football and they go up the other end and score.
"That's where our defenders have got to be stronger because when we're chasing games, you will get one-on-ones.
"But our cause isn't hopeless and I've told the players we've got to keep going.
"We've got to keep plugging away because although we might need other results to go for us we've still got a chance."

Team News

Wolves: boss Dave Jones has doubts over Northern Ireland international Mark Clyde who sustained a knock against Chelsea.
The 21-year-old was forced out of his country's midweek clash against Estonia, while Romanian international Ioan Ganea emerged unscathed from his 82-minute showing against Scotland.
Former Saints keeper Paul Jones should keep his place in the side after emerging unscathed from Wales' first half against Hungary.

Southampton: are set to field a near unchanged line-up from the team that overcame Tottenham last weekend with only one player returning and one doubtful for boss Paul Sturrock.
Former England international Graeme Le Saux is in contention for a place in Saints starting line-up after a three-week absence with a hamstring knock sustained against Liverpool.
Marian Pahars is a doubt for the South Coast side up front after he suffered a slight groin injury while on international duty with Latvia.
At the back, Southampton will still be without Swedish international Michael Svensson who is still recovering from the calf problem he picked up in the warm-up against Portsmouth.
