Transfers Update
Dutch international goalkeeper Ed de Goey is keen to
follow up interest from Birmingham and Wolves after being released by
Chelsea.
De Goey has been at Stamford Bridge for six years, but it ended earlier
this month when Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri decided not to offer a new
deal, insisting he had enough goalkeeping cover at the club following the
signing of Jurgen Macho.
Wolves and Birmingham are being linked with him and de Goey's agent Ger
Lagendijk said: "He wants to stay in England but if we cannot find a
deal then he will return to Holland to play.
"There is still a possibility he will move to Fenerbahce, should
Rustu Recber complete his move to Barcelona."
Wolves have reportedly made a bid to
sign
unsettled Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
Boss Dave Jones is said to have contacted both Chelsea and the
man himself to gauge their reaction, and while the player is reportedly
lukewarm about the idea, his club are keen to make it happen.
Claudio Ranieri would allow the Dutchman to go virtually for free and
pay half his £50,000 a week wages for the one year remaining on his
contract.
Wolves could face competition for Hasselbaink's signature, he
was linked with Barcelona this year and the arrival of a new Dutch
manager in Frank Rikjaard could also help resurrect that deal.
Wolves and Birmingham are
also both reported to be chasing Atalanta central defender Cesare Natali.
Both clubs are understood to have expressed an interest in the
24-year-old, who is ready to move following Atalanta's relegation from
Serie A last season.
Wolves are in urgent need of a new central defender after they released Ludovic
Pollet and Joleon Lescott is set to miss the
start of the season after knee surgery.
Wolves
boss Dave Jones revealed tragic football star Marc Vivien Foe
was a transfer target. Foe died while playing for Cameroon in his nation's victory over
Colombia in the Confederations Cup last night.
The cause of death has yet to be confirmed, but 28-year-old Foe is
believed to have suffered a heart attack on the pitch in Lyon.
Ince And Irwin Update
Dave Jones and Jez Moxey have met with Paul Ince and Denis Irwin’s agents
to continue talks about trying them to play for another year.
Boss Dave Jones said on WOW:
"We’ve made offers to both Denis and Paul through their agents and now we're waiting to see what
happens.
"Ideally, we want these two to be the first signings and then others will hopefully follow.
"The matter is ongoing and there’s nothing greatly to say at this stage. I wouldn't imagine anything will be done in the next few days.
“There’s a board meeting on Monday and we’ll have a clearer picture about the financial side of things after that.”

Miller Update
Wolves striker Kenny Miller is
expecting to be fit for the start of Wolves first-ever Premiership season
after a double hernia operation.
Miller ended the season with 24 goals for Wolves and scoring the equaliser
for Scotland in the Euro 2004 qualifier against Germany.
Now the former Rangers forward is targeting a return to action in time for
the season opener against Blackburn and Scotland's friendly in Norway in
August.
Miller said on WOW:
"I'm getting around okay now after the operation and I'm looking
forward to coming back and getting ready for the season.
"I'll be doing some light work in the hotel gym on the bike and
doing some swimming when it's quiet in the pool as well.
"So, hopefully, I won't be too far behind the other boys when they
come back for the pre-season."
Transfer Update
Mohamed Camara has launched an
attack on Wolves after signing a two-year contract with First Division
Burnley yesterday afternoon.
Camara was unhappy at being left in the dark by the Molineux club ,
he claimed no-one
from Wolves had been in touch with him.
Camara said "I was happy
to stay at Wolves and I loved my time in Wolverhampton, but I waited a
long, long time to hear from Wolves and no-one got in touch.
"That's fine - I would have liked to stay but at the end of the day
no-one said anything to me and you have to look after yourself.
"Neither Dave Jones or Jez Moxey got in touch.
"But I hope Wolves stay in the Premiership for the fans because they
are very good supporters."
Northampton have complained
about Wolves putting a £250,000 price tag on midfielder Ivar Ingimarsson.
Northampton boss Martin Wilkinson approached Wolves about buying the
Icelandic international last week, but was stunned to discover his price
had gone up since last season when Wolves where asking roughly £50,000,
now they are asking £250,000.
Ingimarsson hasn't played in Wolves first team since October 2002 and
spent the last three months of the season on loan at Brighton.

Transfer Funds Talks
Wolves boss Dave Jones is
going to sit down with the Molineux board next week to thrash out details
of a transfer war chest designed at keeping Wolves in the Premiership,
especially now they have been made the bookies favorites to drop straight
back down into Division 1.
The key now for Jones is bringing in new players and he will will be armed
with a list of names he would like, chief executive Jez Moxey was made
aware of recently, much depends on just how much Jones has to spend.
Initially, Jones is eager to sign up skipper Paul Ince and Denis Irwin for
another year following the expiry of their contracts at the end of last
season.
Beyond that, Jones is in the market for a centre back, central midfielder,
striker and a right winger, with Trevor Sinclair the main target for the
latter position.

after a few days to let the knees settle down, he went into the theatre on
June 3.
"Both operations went by without a hitch and he is in the first
stages of rehabilitation and is recovering as well as can be expected.
"But whether or not he will be fit for the start of the season
remains to be seen."

Peter Pridmore Wolves retail and merchandising manager said on WOW: “The interest in the new away kit has been incredible. We were expecting a good response but the demand this weekend has broken all previous sale records.
“We are expecting a sell-out situation fairly soon but, additional orders were placed straight after the final whistle on May 26 and we are continuing to work with suppliers to make sure the shirts are with us as soon as possible.
“Fans are obviously still reveling in the play-off glory with many choosing to add the Premier League logo to their shirts at the time of purchase.

help Wolves establish themselves in the Premiership.
They will make an announcement on their plans once they have had a further
round of talks with boss Dave Jones. But those talks have had to be put on
hold because Jones is currently enjoying a summer break of his own and he

He said on WOW: "It's like an induction
meeting, it is an opportunity for the Premiership to give guidance and advice to all three newcomers as to what to expect, what to do and how to handle things.
"The agenda covers everything from structure, organisation, TV responsibilities, referees, commercial activities, finances . . . just about everything.
"After that will come the annual meeting on Thursday and Friday so by the end of the week, we should have a detailed idea of the changes we need to make.
"Clearly we are entering a whole new world from which the club has been isolated for nearly 20 years and there is a huge amount to do. It will be a big
challenge for everyone at the club but I feel it is one that we are ready for and will relish."
Hoax Warning From Wolves
*From official Wolves
website WOW:
Staff at Wolves have been contacted by a number of local people who have all received calls advising them that they had been selected for a prize.
Some were told they had won a signed football and a discount off a season ticket, others that they were entitled to a cash payment of several thousand pounds.
All were told to collect their 'prizes' from Molineux.
The club believes the calls are bogus and would like to make it known that it has no connection whatsoever with them.
Anyone receiving such a call is advised to be wary.

said his search for new players will take him into Europe to build a squad
capable of establishing Wolves in the Premiership.
Jones established a line of good contacts on the continent when he was in
charge at Southampton where his signings included Marian Parhars.
Jones Said: ''The foreign market will certainly have a big part to play in
my plans.
''There were foreign players who did not want to come to Molineux because
we were a First Division side.
''Now we are in the Premiership and that changes everything.
"Promotion has opened another door for us - and it is one we intend
using in the coming weeks.''
