Transfer News
Wolves' chief executive Jez
Moxey has confirmed that Crystal Palace have made a bid for striker Carl
Cort.
The fee remained undisclosed but Moxey did confirm that the bid was
dismissed out of hand.
"We have had an offer from Palace and it was immediately
rejected," he said.
Striker Vio Ganea has signed for
Dinamo Bucharest on an initial one-year deal which could be extended for
another 12 months.
The 32-year-old Romanian was released by boss Glenn Hoddle at the end of
last season, much to Ganea's anger.
After joining on a free transfer from Bursaspor in summer 2003, Ganea scored
nine goals in 39 appearances for the Molineux club although 19 of those
outings were as a substitute.
Ganea missed the whole of Wolves' 2004-05 campaign after sustaining cruciate
knee ligament damage on a pre-season tour of Norway.
Coventry have signed Colin
Cameron from rivals Wolves on an initial one-year contract with the option
of a further season.
The former Scottish international was out of contract at Molineux and
despite interest from a host of other clubs, has opted for a move to the
Ricoh Arena.
Cameron, 33, joined Wolves in August 2001 for £1.75million went on to make
188 appearances for the club.

Transfer Problems
Wolves boss Glenn Hoddle admits
he faces an uphill battle to strengthen his squad before the new season.
Having lost eight first-team players so far this close season, and with
contract negotiations still on-going with Paul Ince and Mark Kennedy, Hoddle
has revealed his re-building plans are being hampered by his limited budget.
He said on WOW:
"The squad is looking pretty skinny at the moment. But it is tough to
bring people in when there's no money to pay transfer fees and so it is
difficult to say how soon anything will happen."

Lescott's Farewell Message
From WOW:
Joleon Lescott has sent a farewell message to Wolves fans, thanking them for
their 'quality' support during his ten-year Molineux career.
The 23-year-old defender, who moved to Premiership Everton this week, first
joined Wolves as a 13-year-old schoolboy and rose through the ranks to
become one of the club's prize assets.
Speaking exclusively to WOW, Jo
said: "I've got a lot to be grateful to Wolves for. Every manger I've
had has helped me. Colin Lee gave me my debut, Dave Jones brought me on and
the present gaffer hasn't stood in my way and has allowed me to take this
chance.
"I also want to thank Jez Moxey and Rick Hayward. We had an agreement
that if Wolves didn't get promoted I could leave if a Premier League club
came in for me. They were good to their word and I appreciate that.
"If Wolves had been promoted last season then things would have been
different. But I want to try and play for my country and staying in the
Championship would have made that ambition a lot harder to fulfil.
"I also want to thank the Wolves fans. Lots of them have come up to me
and said that although they didn't want me to go they could understand that
I wanted to play in the top flight. That has made it easier for me to move
on.
"The supporters have always been great to me and I like to think that
they will remember me as someone who always gave my all when I was wearing
the shirt.
"Unfortunately I didn't get to play for Wolves in the Premiership and
that will always be the low point of my career at Molineux. I hated not
being able to take part. But I did play at the Millennium Stadium in the
play-off final and that day - and the bus trip around the city afterwards -
will stay with me forever.
"That will be the high point but I'll also look back on my time at
Wolves and think about all the friends I've made. I can't think that there's
been anyone I've not got on with and I'm lucky to have made many life-long
friends."

Transfer News
Wolves have joined the race with
Birmingham, Charlton and Reading and for the signature of Tottenham
centre-back Calum Davenport.
The £1.5million-rated defender is keen to resurrect his career after an
unhappy spell at White Hart Lane.
23-year-old Davenport has found first-team opportunities hard to come by
because of the form of England pair Ledley King and Michael Dawson at the
heart of the Spurs defence.

Lescott Signs For Everton
Wolves defender Joleon Lescott
has finally completed his move to Everton.
Everton will pay up to £5m, plus a 15% share of any sell-on fee, for
Lescott who has signed a four-year contract at Goodison.
The move was initially delayed because key officials at Everton were away
from the club, and then as a result of Everton's concern over the player's
long term fitness.
However, after further negotiations, the transfer has now been completed
with Wolves agreeing to defer the final instalment of the fee for an
additional six months from the date initially agreed, and make it subject to
the player not retiring from football within 30 months due to any
pre-existing condition relating to his knee operations.
Lescott told skysports.com:
"I am delighted with the move, it is a dream come true.
"I am an ambitious player and I am looking forward to playing in The
Premiership next season.
"If I am playing in a top team hopefully I can try and break my way
into the England squad."
A host of clubs were chasing
Lescott's signature, but the central defender admitted Everton were his only
choice after they made a move for him.
"Once I knew Everton were interested in me my mind was made up,"
added Lescott.
"Everton are a big club and they have major plans for the future.
"David Moyes impressed me a lot with his vision for the club."
Lescott insists he was never
worried about the way the transfer dragged on before being completed.
"The manager, chairman and Jez Moxey were great with me and I was never
worried about the transfer," said Lescott.
"These things take time and I would like to thank Wolves as they said
they would not stand in my way if a top club came calling.
"It is a bit sad to be leaving Wolves as I have been there a long time
and I have a lot of friends there, but I could not turn down the chance to
move to The Premiership."

The Football League
Statement
FROM THE PRESS OFFICE OF THE
FOOTBALL LEAGUE
At their Annual General Meeting, in the Algarve, Football League Chairmen
have unanimously introduced new regulations that prohibit 'dual
representation' by agents in player transfers - the practice whereby an
agent represents more than one party in negotiations - and placed new
restrictions on the circumstances in which clubs are permitted to pay
agents.
In future players will be responsible for paying their own agents, who will
also need a formal agreement to represent their players. Clubs employing
agents will be required to have similar arrangements in place.
Football League Chairman Lord
Mawhinney said: "Two years ago we committed ourselves to being the only
set of clubs in world football that publish our spending on agents' fees.
Today, we have taken another considerable step forward. These changes will
bring a much greater level of integrity to transfer negotiations.
"By outlawing 'dual representation' and giving greater clarity to the
circumstances in which clubs can pay agents we have made a major
contribution to restoring a fair balance to the relationship between clubs,
players and their agents.
"I commend club chairmen for taking this lead and hope other football
authorities will choose to follow our example."
Additionally, clubs have voted
for The League to establish a 'Register of Interests' in which club
officials must disclose to The League any interest or influence they have in
the business of an agent.
Lescott Update
Joleon Lescott's move to Everton
is getting closer. Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey this morning said he was
hopeful it would be completed within the next 48 hours.
The hold up is because Everton are believed to be concerned over the knee
injury which ruled Lescott out of the entire 2003-04 season, and, although
he has played 93 games in the past two campaigns, the deal is set to be
revised with part of the fee based on appearances.
Jez Moxey said on WOW:
"We are into the final details of the deal. I have been confident of
this transfer being completed throughout and I'm optimistic it could be
finalised in the next day or two."

Everton Stalling Over
Lescott
Joleon Lescott could be left
waiting for another week before he knows if his move to Everton is certain.
The Premiership club are stalling over the £5m transfer which has become
snagged on the long-term projections for Lescott's career.
The 24-year-old defender, who is waiting to clinch a four-year deal during
which he will earn £5m, has gone away for a short holiday wondering whether
the transfer will be completed.
Lescott played every match for
Wolves last season and passed a medical at Everton, but concern over the
wear and tear on his knees led to Everton arranging a second examination
which has led to the delay.
The former England under-21 defender was a first-team regular at the age of
18 and has played more than 200 first-team games since then.
But Everton are concerned that
Lescott could have problems in the long-term future and are demanding the
method of payments be changed to reflect that.
The scenario has left the central defender dangling in the wind as he waits
to see if his ambition to play in the Premiership will be realised.
Lescott missed his one other opportunity with Wolves in 2003-04 because of
the problems which prompted surgery on both knees and treatment in the
States from world-renowned specialist Richard Steadman.
Since then he has fought his way back and racked up 93 first- team
appearances in the last two campaigns, but it his long-term future value
which Everton are haggling over now.
The Goodison club are on the
lookout to save money, having been forced to pay £2m more for Crystal
Palace striker Andrew Johnson than they had intended.
Now they are talking tough in an effort to bargain the price down or spread
the payments over a much lengthier period.
Ince Waiting For Talks
Paul Ince is still unsure
whether he will be playing at Molineux next season and will meet with Jez
Moxey to discuss a new deal.
The 38-year-old is currently taking a residential course in applied
management after which he leaves for a family holiday, and will not talk
with Jez until he returns.
"I've been offered a year
and it's going to be a case of sitting down personally with Jez to see where
we go," Ince told the Birmingham Mail.
"I've only just come back from being away, I'm doing this course for a
week and then I'm off on holiday for 11 days.
"After that I'll hopefully be able to speak to Jez and we can see how
things stand."
It's believed accepting the deal
currently on the table would mean a substantial cut in wages for the Wolves
skipper.

Lescott Still Waiting
Wolves are haven't heard from
Everton about the transfer of Joleon Lescott.
The defender travelled up to Merseyside for a medical last Thursday but the
deal has still to be completed.
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey reported on Saturday that the player had
passed his medical, but the 23-year-old has yet to sign a contract to take
him to Goodison Park.

Lescott Passes Medical At Everton
Wolves central defender Joleon
Lescott has moved closer to joining Everton after he passed a medical with
the Premiership club.
The clubs had earlier agreed an undisclosed fee for the 23-year-old, which
is believed to be in the region of £5m.
Wolves have also confirmed that Lescott has agreed personal terms.
Lescott played every match in
the Championship for Wolves last season and was named supporters player of
the season.
But the former England under-21 international missed out on the chance to
play in the Premiership in 2003 when Wolves were in the top-flight due to
injury.
Lescott came up though Wolves youth system and made over 200 appearances and
scored 13 goals.

Lescott Set To Sign For
Everton
Joleon Lescott could be
completing his transfer to Everton for around £5.5 million with possibly a
5 year contract, today.
Everton are waiting for the final results of the 23-year-old's medical which
are due at lunchtime today
Wolves boss Hoddle is likely to be handed at least a portion of the funds to
bolster his own transfer kitty.
That will help alter his sights on potential targets having previously been
restricted to trawling the Bosman free transfer market for signings.

Wolves Training In Spain
The Wolves squad are leaving
Wolverhampton on Monday 3rd July to travel to southern Spain for pre-season
training.
The players will be through their paces at a training camp near Alicante.

Amor.
They will be returning the following Saturday.
Lescott Having Medical At Everton
Wolves defender Joleon Lescott
has traveled to Everton this morning for a medical and to talk personal
terms.
The clubs have agreed a fee that could see the 23-year-old move to
Merseyside.
Chief executive Jez Moxey said on WOW:
"We have been in discussion with a number of clubs interested in
signing Joleon and have agreed a transfer fee with Everton.
"Joleon is this morning undergoing a medical examination and, subject
to the outcome of that, we expect to conclude the transfer which will
reflect the player's value."
