The proposed £1m transfer of
Wolves striker Freddy Eastwood to Coventry City has collapsed.
Eastwood had talks with the Sky Blues about signing a four-year contract
after a fee had been agreed with Wolves.
But Coventry chairman Ray Ranson said: "Unfortunately the deal collapsed
because of money the player is legally entitled to from Wolves."
Coventry offered to pay half the sum but Wolves were unwilling to match
it.
Two Reserve Friendlies

The game at Church Street takes place on Friday 18th July with a 7.30pm

promotion to the Premier League.

spells at Preston, NEC Nijmegen and Derby raised his already impressive
profile.
Jones then made his move to Pride Park permanent, scoring seven goals in
47 appearances.

Board Changes
Rupert Hayward and Kevin
Threlfall have today resigned from the Board of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC
because of a combination of work and personal commitments.
They have timed their close season departures to ensure minimum disruption
ahead of the new season.
There are no plans to replace Rupert and Kevin, so the board will consist
of: Steve Morgan (Chairman), Jez Moxey (Chief Executive), John Gough, John
Bowater and Bob Laslett.
Speaking about his resignation, Rupert, grandson of Wolves Life President
Sir Jack Hayward, said on
WOW: "Unfortunately,
my work commitments involve me spending a considerable amount of time in
Eastern Europe. I therefore can't dedicate the time that the role demands.
"It's easier for me to leave knowing that the club is in very safe hands.
First and foremost I'm a fan and I'll be cheering on Wolves from the
sidelines.
"I'd like to wish everyone connected to the club all the best for the
future."
Kevin Threlfall, who has been
on the board since 2006, added: "Sir Jack initially asked me to help form
a new board and to help identify and ensure a seamless hand over to
prospective new ownership.
"So for me it's a case of 'job done'.
"Before I joined the board I'd been a season ticket holder for 35 years.
Wolves are a big part of my life and that will never change."

boss Mick McCarthy's second signing of the summer so far.

swapped the prospect of life in League One for a return to the
Championship.
Stearman has represented England at Under-17,18,19 and 21 levels.
Fixture News
Wolves away match against
Cardiff City in November has been selected to be shown live on Sky, which
means the game, which takes place on Saturday, November 1, will now
kick-off at 5.20pm.
South Wales Police are once again insisting on transport restrictions
similar to the ones applied when Wolves played Cardiff in the FA Cup
fixture at Ninian Park in February.
The 'bubble' involves supporters having to travel on approved transport
and picking up their match tickets at a pre-arranged rendezvous point
shortly before the game.

Fry Puts Ridiculous Price
Tag On McLean
Peterborough director of
football Barry Fry has told Wolves to "put up or shut up" in their bid to
sign striker Aaron McLean.
Posh have already rejected two initial offers from Wolves chief executive
Jez Moxey and are demanding £3million up front for the 25-year-old, with a
further £2m if the Black Country outfit seal promotion to the Premier
League.
"To let everyone know in Wolverhampton, we won't be letting him go for
less than I've told you," Fry told BBC WM. "Wolves are a proper club. They
should be in the Premier League. If they bought Aaron he'd take them
there.
"When I saw Jez last week we had a chat. I told him my chairman won't
stand in the way, but he wants £3m up front, £2m if they get promoted,
some add-ons and a sell-on.
"He said that's not going to happen, so I said that's the end of it. We
won't let him go for any less. It's put up or shut up really, and go
away."
McLean scored 33 goals last season as Posh sealed promotion to League One.
Kightly Signs New Deal
Wolves have been handed a huge
boost ahead of the new Championship season with winger Michael Kightly
pledging his long-term future to the club.
The 22-year-old, who has been linked with a big money move to several
Premier League clubs, has signed a new four-year deal at Molineux.
He said on WOW: "I'm
really pleased that the deal has been completed. I hope it will stop all
of this talk about me wanting to leave.
"I've really enjoyed myself at Wolves and I hope that has shown with the
passion in my play.
"I wear the Wolves shirt with pride and will continue to do so.
"I can't wait for the season to start. We've got a good, young squad and,
with a couple of additions, I don't see why we can't have a successful
season.
"The club is going in the right direction. Everyone concerned with it
wants to be in the Premier League and I want to be there with them."

Olo Transfer Request Agreed
Wolves have agreed to a
transfer request from Nigerian international midfielder Seyi Olofinjana.
The 28-year-old signed a four-year contract last October, but a clause was
inserted which has now been activated.
Olofinjana signed for Wolves four years ago from Norwegian side Brann
Bergen and scored 18 goals in 147 matches.
Jez Moxey explained on
WOW: "At the time of
signing a new contract with Seyi last year, we agreed that, should the
club miss out on promotion at the end of the 2007/08 season, we would
circulate his name for transfer if that is what he wished.
"As expected, Seyi has made that request and we are therefore following
through on our commitment and he has been placed on the transfer list.
"As an experienced senior international player who has not only served
Wolves well but re-signed instead of holding out to become a free agent
this summer, he has given us the opportunity of recouping our financial
investment in him to help buy new players."

New Sports Scientist
Wolves have appointed a new
sports scientist, John Iga, 28, he will mainly work with the club's
Academy but will also have an input at first team level under the guidance
of fitness coach Tony Daley.
He has a degree in sports science and PHD in Exercise Physiology from
Liverpool John Moores University and is due to start work in mid-July.
John said on
WOW: "Sports science
is a very broad term but my work involved all aspects of psychology,
bio-mechanics, physiology and the sociological aspect.
"I'll be working closely with Tony (Academy manager) and Kevin Thelwell
and the idea is to get all the players performing at their optimum.
"Football has changed so much in recent years that everything has to be in
place in order to allow players to compete at such high standards.
"It's all about the right sort of preparation and recovery strategies to
ensure the players are as physically fit as possible.
"As soon as I heard about this job I was really excited about the
challenge.
"Wolves are a great club with some impressive facilities and I'm looking
forward to getting started."

Southend Still want Mulgrew
Southend chairman Ron Martin
has confirmed that he remains hopeful of signing Wolves defender Charlie
Mulgrew.
The full-back impressed during a three-month loan spell at Roots Hall last
season and the Essex club are keen to sign him on a permanent basis.
Swindon also hold an interest in acquiring his services, but Martin told
Southend's official website: "Charlie is a player we would like to retain.
"He improved during his time with us but at the moment Steve Tilson does
not agree with Wolves' valuation of him.
"However, we don't think agreeing personal terms with Charlie would be a
problem and it's certainly something we will pursue."

taking part in a reserve league next season, as they did in the 2006/07
season.

status following their relegation to the Championship, have decided
against joining a League.

Freddy Wants Cardiff Move
Wolves striker
Freddy Eastwood believes the chance to join Championship rivals Cardiff
would represent a "very good move".
The Welsh international endured a turbulent season at Molineux following
his £1.5million switch from Southend last summer, finding himself on the
substitutes' bench for much of the campaign.
The 24-year-old is keen to end his Wolves wilderness and would welcome a
move to Ninian Park.
"I need to get
away from Wolves and play - and Cardiff would be a very good move for me,"
Eastwood told Wales on Sunday. "They would be attractive to anyone. They
got to the FA Cup final last year and they have got a lot of good young
players - you only have to look around the Welsh squad to see that.
"They have brought a lot of good players through and I know they had a
little bit of a difficult season in the league, but they showed what they
can do by getting to the cup final and in the end they were unfortunate
not to win it. So anyone would fancy something like that."
"I have had my problems with Wolves but I have shown what I can do at
international level, and I know I can do the same at club level if I get
the chance."

Jones Turns Down Wolves
Derby midfielder David Jones
has failed to agree terms at Molineux, despite both clubs agreeing a fee.
The 23-year-old has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at
Pride Park since playing a key role in the Rams' promotion winning side of
2006-2007 after arriving from Manchester United for £1million in January
2007.
"We agreed a deal with Wolves for David Jones but he's rejected it," Derby
County manager Paul Jewell told the Evening Telegraph.
"As far as I'm aware, I don't think they could agree terms."

Bully Friendly
Wolves have agreed to play a
pre-season friendly with Molineux legend Steve Bull's Stafford Rangers.
The match will take place at Marston Road on Tuesday 5th August, with a
7.30pm kick-off.
Bully took over the manager's
role at Marston Road last season and he is delighted that one of the warm
up games for the new season will be against his former club.
He said on WOW:
"I'd like to thank Wolves in advance for agreeing to send a team to
Stafford.
"My intention is to get us back up into the Blue Square Premier and this
should be an excellent work out for us ahead of the new season.
"Wolves are still very close to my heart and it will be strange to be in
opposition to them. But I'm really looking forward to it."
Carling Cup Draw
Wolves have drawn Accrington
Stanley at Molineux in the first round of the Carling Cup.
The tie will be played during the week commencing 11th August.
Wolves have only played Stanley on three occasions the last of which took
place 85 years ago, Wolves have beaten them twice and lost once.

Rachael At The Palace
Wolves Vice-President and
England cricket legend, Rachael Heyhoe Flint, picked up an OBE today for
services to cricket. She received the prestigious award from HRH Prince of
Wales at a Buckingham Palace ceremony.
Rachael was the face of women's cricket for over a generation. She took
over the captaincy of the England team in 1966 and remained unbeaten in
six series. She was one of the first women admitted to the MCC and in 2004
she became the first woman elected to the full committee.
Speaking outside Buckingham
Palace, Rachael said: "I'm thrilled and honoured to receive this award. My
son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren have flown over from Singapore to
be here today, so it's been a real family occasion. It's also my birthday
today - what a fantastic present!"
A lifelong Wolves supporter,
Rachael has fulfilled a number of important roles at Molineux, including a
stint on the club's main board. More recently, Rachael has played a key
role in establishing Wolves Aid, the club's official charity. It has been
re-launched with £150,000 to distribute to Wolverhampton-based charities
and community groups.

Davies Ready For Return
Wolves midfielder Mark Davies
is hoping to force his way back into the first-team after an
injury-ravaged two-year spell.
The 20-year-old broke into the Wolves team under Glenn Hoddle but has not
started a game since McCarthy took over because of a succession of
problems.
He said on
WOW: "I injured my
knee in pre-season training last summer and then landed badly on my
shoulder in a reserve game against Walsall just before Christmas.
"I tore a muscle near the collarbone and that took a fair while to clear
up and, when it did, I managed to tweak a medial knee ligament in training
which really capped things off for me.
"But I'm fit again now. I've been coming into the training ground and
doing some fitness work since the lads broke up for the holidays and I'm
looking forward to joining in with pre-season training when they come
back.
"I'm only 20 but I've had more than my share of bad luck with injuries.
"So I just hope that things are going to change for the better for me
because this is going to be a big season for the club and I want to be a
part of it."

Young Talent Is Staying
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy
is the latest member of the Molineux hierarchy to insist none of his
talented young players will be leaving the club.
McCarthy has joined chairman Steve Morgan and chief executive Jez Moxey in
saying no-one is for sale.
McCarthy said on WOW:
"There's nobody leaving, Steve and Jez have already said that so you may
as well hear it from me."
"Why would we want to sell anybody? It would be really counter productive.
"We are trying to bring players in to strengthen the squad.
England under-21 winger Michael Kightly has been linked with a move to
either Blackburn Rovers or West Ham while Wales international goalkeeper
Wayne Hennessey is attracting attention from a host of clubs, among them
Everton.

Southend Want Mulgrew
Southend United are trying to
bring Wolves left-back Charlie Mulgrew back to the club on a permanent
deal.
The Scotland Under-21 international, spent three months on loan at Roots Hall last season,
helping the Blues to the League One play-offs.
Mulgrew returned to Molineux at the end of the campaign, which has left
Southend without a left-back.
Manager Steve Tilson told BBC Essex: "We're speaking to Wolves to see what
offer they'll accept but it will all come down to the fee and player
wages."
2nd June 2008
Kightly Not For Sale
Wolves have dismissed
speculation linking highly-rated winger Michael Kightly with a move to the
Premier League.
A number of top flight clubs are understood to be tracking Kightly and
Blackburn are rumoured to be lining up the England Under 21 international
as a possible replacement for Liverpool target David Bentley.
And Mick Woodward, Kightly's former chairman at Grays Athletic, recently
claimed that the 22-year-old will soon make a switch to the Premier
League.
However, Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey insists Kightly will remain at
Molineux next season as the club look to return to the Premier League.
Jez Moxey said on WOW:
"I was very surprised by Mick Woodward's comments. We've received no
enquiries or bids for Michael Kightly.
"Our chairman, Steve Morgan, went on the record at the end of April with a
clear and unequivocal message: 'Our best young players are not for sale'.
"We've got an exciting young team at Molineux and we are building
something special. Michael wants to be a part of that.
"We will not allow this kind of rumour and speculation to disrupt our
plans."
