Transfer News
From BBC Sport: Dino
Baggio's agent has confirmed to this website that they are in talks with
Wolves about a possible deal.
Andrea Damico said discussions were taking place about the 32-year-old
former Italy captain moving to the newly-promoted Midlands club but that
there was no more information at the moment.
Baggio has been told he can leave the Roman club and the talks are reported
to be at an advanced stage, with a decision on the transfer expected next
week.
Baggio's joint agent Claudio Pasqualin said: "He's excited by the
chance to play for a Premiership club."
Baggio, who won 60 caps for Italy, scoring seven goals, has had a stellar
career in Italian club football.
After starting at Torino in 1990 he had year-long spells at Inter Milan and
Juventus before joining Parma.
He spent over six years at the northern Italian club before joining current
club Lazio.
Baggio - who is not related to namesake Roberto - is primarily a defensive
midfielder but he can also be a threat going forward and is useful in the
air.

Friendly Cancelled
Wolves have had to call off
their friendly against Den Haag this evening. The game has been cancelled
due to a water leak in the dressing rooms at Telford United’s ground,
which led to concerns over safety. The pitch at Bucks Head has also had a
good soaking with the heavy rain.
The fixture is not going to be re-arranged as Den Haag are returning to
Holland tomorrow, so anyone who bought a ticket for the match is advised to
call in to Wolves ticket office for a full refund.

"We are hoping that, with a bit of luck, Steffen may be available to
figure in Friday's friendly against Den Haag."

until the end of 2002/03 and he played 23 games.

General Update
Transfers: Wolves
are looking at two options to bring Tottenham striker Steffen Iversen to
Molineux.
Secretary Richard Skirrow explained on WOW:
"The first option is a loan deal with us paying only a portion of
Steffen's contract (effectively sharing his wages with Spurs), the second is
taking the player on a free transfer with a one year contract - at a level
of wages the club can afford - once a settlement has been reached between
Steffen and Tottenham."
Wolves officials confirmed today
they had talks to try and sign Argentinean striker Luciano Figueroa. But
this afternoon it's been reported he's signed for Birmingham, but Wolves say
they are unaware of any deal being concluded. On the Birmingham website they
say they are putting the finishing touches to a deal and the player has yet
to undergo a medical.
Boss Dave Jones is linked with a second continental target, Sporting
Lisbon's Mario Jordal.
Jones as usual was tight-lipped on the identity of his targets today and
refused to comment on reports that he had missed out on Figueroa.
Injury: Striker
Adam Proudlock was admitted to hospital this morning, he didn't respond to
initial treatment to his leg and is now on an antibiotic drip. He fell off a
mountain bike and grazed his leg which become infected. He's expected to
stay in hospital for a couple days so doctors can investigate how best to
proceed.
Fixture: Wolves
away match against Birmingham City has been moved from Saturday 24th April
to Sunday 25th with a 12 noon kick-off, after a request by West Midlands
Police.
Roussel Deal Done
Wolves striker Cedric Roussel
has finally completed his move to KRC Genk.
He agreed a deal with the Belgian side a fortnight ago but the two sides
were involved in lengthy discussions over a fee for the 25-year-old.
Roussel had asked Fifa to mediate in the transfer after Wolves turned down
three offers from Genk, but an undisclosed price was agreed with a 25% sell
on clause before the world governing body had to intercede.
Roussel said: "I would like to thank Wolves. They have worked hard to
make this happen and I wish them well in the future."
21st July 2003
Proudlock Returns
Wolves striker Adam Proudlock is
returning to Molineux from the club’s Spanish training camp after picking
up a leg infection. He will be visiting the club doctor when he arrives back
in Wolverhampton, later today.
Proudlock said on WOW:
“I am bitterly disappointed that I’m going to miss out on the end of the
week’s training.
“Things had gone pretty well for me up until yesterday but the knee
suddenly swelled up early in the afternoon and it’s been giving me a lot
of grief.”
Roussel Fee Agreed
Negotiations for Striker Cedric
Roussel resumed over the weekend and an acceptable fee was finally agreed
between Wolves and FC Genk, Wolves had already turned down 3 bids but after
an improved offer was made the Wolves striker is set to join the Belgian top
flight club.
Roussel still had two years left on his Molineux contract could be signing
later today after having a medical at the club.
18th July 2003
Roussel Contacts Fifa
Wolves have received papers from
a lawyer acting for Cedric Roussel asking that FIFA mediate in a dispute he
has with Wolves, who have now contacted the FA for assistance. The complaint
is about the recent transfer negotiations with Genk. The Belgian club have
made three bids for Roussel which have all been turned down, even though
Wolves will let him go if they receive a reasonable offer.
Chief executive Jez Moxey said on WOW:
“We have turned down the bids from Genk purely on the basis that we
believe them to be well below Cedric’s market value.
“If Cedric wishes to leave us then it’s in everybody’s interests that
he moves on, but it is not unreasonable for us to want to recoup a fair
portion of the fee that was paid out for him. His performances whilst on
loan to Mons last season proved he is a striker of some quality.
“We are seeking advise from our lawyers and the FA, however, I am sure
that the situation can be resolved amicably.”

Transfer News
Wolves are being linked with
29-year-old Tottenham striker Sergei Rebrov, reports claim that talks have
already been held. Rebrov joined Turkish side Fenerbahce on an 18-month loan
in January but the deal has since run into problems. Also linked with a
Molineux move is another Tottenham striker Steffen Iversen.
Wolves as usual haven't denied or confirmed the rumours!

Wolves players left
Wolverhampton this morning heading off to their Spanish training camp for a
weeks intensive training programme, they will return to Molineux on
Wednesday 23rd July.
A few players were unable to make the trip new signing Oleg Luzhny was not
able to travel with the squad today as he was waiting for a Spanish visa
which is required by Ukrainian nationals, he will fly out to the Spanish

operation. Also George Ndah who is recovering from knee surgery is missing,
the duo will undergo an intensive ten-day rehabilitation programme at
Lilleshall.

the season, but he is also making steady progress.
M'Bami Joins PSG
Wolves target Modeste M'Bami has
revealed the reasons behind his decision to sign for Paris Saint-Germain
instead of Wolves.
Dave Jones was closing in on the 20-year-old and had agreed a fee of around
£2m with his French club Sedan, but PSG president Francis Graille stepped
in and M'Bami has signed a five-year contract with the Paris club.
"I am very happy to be with PSG,'' he said. "This is a great
moment for me. I was meant to go to England and sign with Wolverhampton on
Monday, but president Graille phoned me overnight to make his offer.
"I had a little bit of time to think. I weighed up the pros and cons
and I chose to come here. I needed to play in a big club for my career. As
far as I am concerned I think that with the team's quality we can win the
title.
"But whatever happens we will have to grab a place in Europe."

Match Reaction
Boss Dave Jones said on WOW:
“Both matches provided a good workout for us and given that we’ve only
been back four days I feel that we can be happy with the performances.
“It was a matter of getting the legs and lungs going. We’ll have all the
first team lads back with us for Wednesday’s game at Swindon, but these
two matches were good experiences for the kids.”
“Keith has been out for four months so 45 minutes was enough for him, if
we’d have been feeling kinder then 20 minutes would have done but we let
him carry on!
“Matt was struggling a bit with his back, but he still looked sharp.
“I was hoping we’d see a level of competition and I think we got it. I
knew it would be quite a tough game because it was Hereford’s first
pre-season match and their players were wanting to impress the manager.
“It was very hot out there, so that was a good test of the players’
fitness. The most important thing is that we had picked up no injuries and
so now we’ll get everybody in the pool today as we start preparing for
Wednesday’s game.”

The French club missed out on French international Benoit Pedretti and have
now turned their attentions to M'Bami, and are said to be ready to offer the

the only goal the Le Havre keeper conceded in the five games he played in
the tournament.

promised by owner-chairman Sir Jack Hayward after Wolves won promotion.

that they are on the verge of their fourth international signing this week,
20-year-old Cameroon international Modeste M’Bami. He played for French
First Division side Sedan last season and is reported to have attracted
interest from Paris St Germain, Chelsea and Spurs after he made some fine
performances in midfield in the recent Conderations Cup in France. Wolves
are just waiting for the results of his medical.
Chief executive Jez Moxey said on WOW:
"A fee has been agreed as have personal terms.
"But the whole deal is subject to him passing a medical and obtaining a
work permit."
Defender Marc Edworthy has now left Molineux after his one-year contract had
expired at the end of June, he played 23 times during last season.
Ince And Irwin Sign Up
Veterans Paul Ince and Denis
Irwin have decided against retiring and will be staying at Molineux for
Wolves first Premiership season.
Wolves announced the news at their third press conference at RAF Cosford in
the last five days, 2 short of the promised 5 in 5 days.
Reserves Update
Wolves boss Dave Jones has made
more changes to his backroom staff by appointing under 17's coach Keith
Downing to the club’s reserve team coach. Keith played 228 times for
Wolves between 1987 and 1993 then returned to Molineux as youth team coach
in 1999. 12 months after youth director Chris Evans had gained Academy
status for the youth programme, Keith took the role of under 17s coach.
Wolves reserves are now in the
FA Premier Reserve League (Northen Section), all nest seasons fixtures are
now on the reserves page. Virtually all the away
games are to be played at non-League grounds, only local rivals West Brom
and Aston Villa will be hosting their second team fixtures with Wolves in
their main stadiums.
Wolves will carry on using Telford’s Bucks Head ground as a venue for most
reserve games, with eight games taking place there and the other five at
Molineux.
10th July 2003
Ince And Irwin Set To Sign
Wolves have called a press
conference for tomorrow morning at 10am to announce that Paul Ince and Denis
Irwin have decided to return for Wolves debut season in the Premier League.
Both players went away to consider their futures after helping Wolves to
play-off victory at Cardiff back in May and now they have agreed terms with
the club.
New Ticket Scheme
Wolves have announced they are
introducing a new Ticket Priority Scheme (TPS) for non-season ticket holders
at Molineux for the new Premiership season.
This season they are expecting a huge demand for the limited number of
matchday tickets available, so fans who join will have the chance to buy a
seat for at least six of the home Premier League matches. The scheme will
replace the Members Club, which has now been discontinued.
It will cost £40 per person per season to join the TPS and membership will
be capped at 7,500 in order to guarantee the number of tickets available.
For each home match 2,500 TPS members names will be selected at random and
sent a ticket at least 19 days before the game. A rotation system will
ensure every member is sent tickets to at least six matches, which they can
either use or return within a given time frame so the seat can be re-sold.
Members will not be able to choose which fixtures they attend but the
rotation system will ensure a fair cross section of opponents is achieved.
Chief executive Jez Moxey sai on WOW:
"As a result of our new Premiership status, we know there will be a
huge clamour for matchday tickets, so we have decided to make changes to our
membership schemes. We are doing this to ensure as fair a distribution of
tickets as possible amongst our supporters - many of whom would probably
have wanted a season ticket but were unable to purchase one as numbers have
been limited."
"We have tried very hard to create a scheme that is straightforward and
easy to use. Instead of fans having to experience the frustration and
difficulty of trying to buy tickets for every match, they can simply fill
out one application form at the beginning of the season and once enrolled
will automatically be sent tickets for at least six Premier League home
fixtures. Similar schemes are in operation at other Premiership clubs and
work successfully."

are ready to start putting some of our plans into action.
"We have taken note of how other clubs promoted to the top flight have
gone about adapting to life at a higher level but we are going to do things
our way - the Wolves way.
"There isn't a bottomless pit of cash available but we are looking to
