Davies Update

Midfielder Mark Davies will miss the start of the season after landing awkwardly injuring his knee in Saturday's friendly match with Aston Villa.
The 18-year-old was stretchered off with just eight minutes gone, went for a scan on Saturday and is due to see the specialist today.
Mick McCarthy said on WOW: "It was a blow to lose Mark so early on, he has impressed me in training and in the Crewe game. Lets hope it is only a couple of weeks or so before he is back," says manager .
"We suspect it may be a cartilage injury and we are hoping that he won't need a little operation.
"It might be three weeks before he is back, or it might be six weeks. We'll just have to see how things progress."

Rick Hayward Steps Down

Wolves chairman Rick Hayward has stepped down from his position at Molineux saying increased business commitments are the reason.
Molineux Director Paul Manduca has also decided to relinquish his position to concentrate on other business interests, the pair will be replaced by local businessmen Kevin Threlfall and John Gough.

Hayward, son of Wolves owner Sir Jack Hayward, said: "We can't ignore the fact that the family's business interests in the Bahamas are expanding. This means I'm finding it more and more difficult to spend time in Wolverhampton, which isn't good for the club.
"I think it is right that I step down as chairman, but this doesn't mean that my involvement with the club is over.
"I will still attend games and support my father, Jez Moxey and the new Board whenever possible. This is an exciting time for Wolves. I'm really pleased with the appointment of Mick McCarthy and I fully support the move towards young, hungry players who really want to play for the club."

Threlfall, 57, and Gough, also 57, are both Wolves fans from the Black County and club president Jack Hayward said: "I've always said that I wanted the board to include successful local businessmen who understand what the club means to the people of Wolverhampton.
"Both Kevin and John live in the city and have followed the club from the terraces since they were boys. They have enjoyed a great deal of success in business and I'm sure their knowledge and drive will help the club.
"Rick and Paul have served the club well and their input will be missed. However, being involved in running a football club is time consuming and they both felt it wasn't fair to continue if they couldn't commit themselves wholeheartedly to moving the club forward."

Clapham Set To Sign

Wolves have agreed a two-year deal with Jamie Clapham with the move subject to the player completing a medical.
The 30-year-old has been on trial at the Championship club after being released by Birmingham at the end of last season.
The utility player had also been on trial at Premiership new-boys Sheffield United this summer.
Clapham spent five years at Ipswich Town before moving to Birmingham in 2003 for £1.3m.

Also having a medical at Molineux is 20-year-old striker Craig Davies, he is expected to sign a season-long loan from parent club Verona tomorrow.
A one time Manc City junior, Davies made 48 appearances for Oxford United before moving to Italy last January.
He is a full Welsh international having played against Slovenia, Poland and Trinidad & Tobago in the last year.

Injury Update

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy is sweating on the fitness of three players ahead of next week's opening game of the season at Plymouth.
Goalkeeper Matt Murray was due to start against Villa on Saturday but was withdrawn after complaining of discomfort in a foot during the warm-up.
Midfielder Mark Davies was stretchered off after eight minutes gone after sustaining a suspected knee injury while Lewis Gobern fell victim to a groin injury.
McCarthy said: "I'm not a doctor so it's no use me trying to guess what the situation is, we'll have to wait for the medical people to let us know what the extent of the problems are."

Midfielder Karl Henry has come to Molineux to play in today's friendly/Bully Anniversary match against Aston Villa.
The 23-year-old is out of contract at Stoke and McCarthy is expected to take a close look at the player this afternoon.
If Wolves were to offer Henry a contract, he would not qualify as a 'Bosman' as he is under the age of 24, and Stoke have made him a new offer - which he has rejected. Therefore, the Potters would be due a compensation payment.
Wolverhampton-born Henry has played for England at under 18, under 20 and under 21 level.

Keeper Goes On Trial

19-year-old goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey has joined Bristol City on trial, with a view agreeing a loan deal.

Hennessey, a Wales under 21 international, is expected to play against Shrewsbury tomorrow, ahead of a possible loan.
He hasn't yet figured for Wolves first team but was a member of the side which narrowly missed out on a place in the FA Youth Cup final of 2004/05. Wayne has worked his way through the Welsh youth system and has now earned three caps for the under 21s.

Bully Given Honour By Wolves

From WOW:

Steve Bull MBE has been made an honorary Vice President of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The legendary striker, who celebrates a 20-year association with the club with a special anniversary game against Aston Villa on Saturday (KO 3pm), was shocked to receive the news last week from Wolves' owner and President Sir Jack Hayward.

"It was a call out of the blue," says Steve. "Sir Jack said he would like me to become Vice President and would I accept.
"I was really taken aback and feel very honoured to have been asked.
"I'm not sure what it all means, and whether I have to sit with the posh people at matches! But I'm going to enjoy it.
"It's been almost 20 years since I first signed for Wolves and seven since I retired. But I still feel part of things at Molineux.
"I'm looking forward to my anniversary game against Villa and this has made the event even more special. I can't thank Sir Jack enough.

Sir Jack added: "I'm delighted to make Steve Bull Vice President in recognition of his loyalty and commitment to the club, and to mark his 20-year association with Wolves."
Steve is now the club's second VP, along with Rachael Heyhoe Flint.

Transfer News

New Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed Paul Ince will not be coming back to Molineux.
Ince's future has been shrouded in doubt since he wasn't offered the manager's job last week because he has no experience.
The former England international had applied for the job after spending the past four seasons in the heart of Wolves' midfield.
He had also been offered a new playing contract, but appears to have rejected it.
The 38-year-old has not turned up for training since McCarthy's appointment, with the new boss admitting The Guvnor will not be returning.

McCarthy said: "I haven't spoken to Paul, but I can tell you now that he won't be coming back to the football club.
"I've been here for three days and I've not seen him. I think he's made his mind up.
"I had made my decision, but I did want to talk to him first.
"But he won't be coming back and we move on."

Wolves have signed Jay Bothroyd on a free transfer, he has signed a 3 year contract.
Bothroyd has been training with Crystal Palace in pre-season, but has moved to Molineux after being released by Charlton Athletic.

Everton midfielder Lee Carsley, who played under McCarthy with the Republic of Ireland side, has also been linked with a switch to Wolves.

Brazilian Signs Loan Deal

Wolves have signed Guilherme Finkler on a season-long loan from Brazilian top flight team Juventude, with an exclusive option to buy the midfielder for £100,000 before the loan ends on 30th June 2007.
The 20-year-old has been on trial since the pre-season training in Spain earlier this month and is the first Brazilian to play for Wolves.
For the past week the deal has been negotiated and only hours into his new job as boss at Wolves, Mick McCarthy was happy complete the deal.

Gui (pronounced Gee) speaks no English yet but told WOW through an interpreter that he was delighted to sign.
"I am very please to be a Wolves player now because I have been waiting for a decision," he said.
"This is my first opportunity to come and play football in Europe and I think it is very special to come to play in England. I hope to do a good job for the fans.
"This is my first time away from Brazil and it is a bit complicated because I do not speak English. But I am going to learn quickly.
"It is my objective to learn not just about English football but the English way of life."

McCarthy Added: "It's been in negotiation for a while and based on what the staff have said about him I am happy that we signed him up.
"Obviously I've only seen him in one training session but he looked OK yesterday."

Contracts Update

New Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has made Paul Ince's contract situation a priority at Molineux.
Veteran midfielder Ince was in the middle of discussing a new playing contract with Wolves at the time of previous manager Glenn Hoddle's departure and must now decide where his future lies.
McCarthy said: "I have not had a chance to speak to Paul yet but it sounds like he may have had other offers.
"I don't always believe what I read in the newspapers but according to them there are other things on the table for him. If he has other offers, that's for him to evaluate."

Rob Edwards signed a new contract with Wolves today even though he still had a year left of his original deal.
The defender was pleased with the new contract that will keep him at Molineux until the summer of 2009.

McCarthy Brings In New Staff

Following the announcement of Mick McCarthy's appointment as Wolves manager this morning, it has been confirmed that Stuart Gray will be leaving Molineux after the freindlly with Swansea. Also leaving are chief scout George Foster and coach/scout Carl Hoddle.
The new boss will bring with him Ian Evans, his number two at Millwall, Republic of Ireland and Sunderland, and a chief scout.

New Manager Announced

Wolves have announced their new manager - Mick McCarthy.
The former Sunderland boss will take over from caretaker manager Stuart Gray on Monday. A press conference has been arranged for that day to introduce the 47-year-old.

McCarthy, who is currently on holiday in Portugal said on WOW: "I'm delighted to be joining Wolves.
"There's a big job to do at Molineux and I'm relishing the challenge.
"I can't wait to get down to work. With just two weeks to go before the start of the season there's lots to be done.
"It's going to be a busy but exciting time."

First Signing

Wolves completed their first summer signing today, former Sunderland defender, Gary Breen.
The 32-year-old Irish international has signed a two-year deal, he was a free agent after his contract with Sunderland expired in May.
After completing the paperwork this morning, prior to his first training session, Gary spoke exclusively to WOW. "Talks have been ongoing throughout the summer," he revealed.
"I am happy it's now been completed and I can get down to things.
"Things are different for Wolves at this time, and a lot like they were at Sunderland two years ago when a lot of the experienced players left and young players were brought into the side, along with players from the lower leagues.
"It wasn't easy but we won the First Division Championship that year and we were promoted.
"I don't really know any of the boys here, although I have played against several of them, and I played against Jody Craddock in schoolboy and youth football, as young professionals.
"As an outsider looking in I have found it hard to see why Wolves haven't made the top six in the last couple of years, we identified them as one of our biggest threats when I was at Sunderland, and now I am excited by the prospect of playing my part in helping the club mount a challenge."

Breen spent three years at the Stadium of Light, making 113 first team starts and scoring seven goals.
He'd previously spent spells with West Ham, Coventry, Birmingham, Peterborough, Gillingham and Maidstone after starting his career with Charlton.

Wolves also had former Birmingham defender Jamie Clapham joining them for training today.
The out-off-contract 30-year-old will be spending the rest of the week at Compton with the view to possibly signing a contract.
Clapham began his career as a trainee at Tottenham but established himself at Ipswich Town before moving to Birmingham in January 2003.

Tranmere 2-2 Wolves

Wolves drew 2-2 against League One Tranmere yesterday at Prenton Park.

Wolves took the lead after just five minutes, Hungarian trialist Balasz Molnar fed Denes Rosa to the right of goal and the midfielder smashed a shot into the roof of the net that gave home keeper Gavin Ward no chance.
But Tranmere were level in the 14th minute, Kevin Ellison's low cross was allowed to run through to Chris Greenacre who hammered home a shot that Michael Oakes got a hand to, but couldn't keep out.
Wolves were back in the lead in the 63rd minute when Mark Clyde drilled a free-kick into the box and Cort rose to head powerfully into the net.
The referee refused to award a foul and, as Finkler limped away, the official compounded the situation by awarding a debatable free-kick to Rovers following a Jody Craddock challenge on Greenacre.
To make matters worse Rovers substitute Jason McAteer took the free-kick from 25-yards out and the ball took a massive deflection off Cort, who was stationed in the wall, completely wrongfooting Oakes as it trickled into the net.

Tranmere: Ward, Stockdale, Tremarco, McCready (Goodison 79), McLaren (McAteer 71), Sherriff (capt), Shuker (M. Jones 79), Mullin, Taylor (Zola 71), Greenacre, Ellison.

Wolves: Oakes, Little, Clyde, Molnar (Clarke 85), Craddock (capt), Edwards, Rosa, M. Davies (McNamara 83), Cort, Frankowski, D. Jones (Finkler 62) (Gleeson 83).
Unused Subs: Murray, Olofinjana, O'Connor, Ricketts, Riley.
Referee: S. Cummins.
Attendance: 2,422.

Another Trialist

Wolves are giving a trial to Hungarian Bálazs Molnár and are hoping to get permission to include him in tonight's friendly at Tranmere.
The 29 year old central midfielder arrived for training this morning, and could play some part in this evening's match if his parent club Zalaegerszeg give the go-ahead.
An international team mate of Denes Rosa and Gabor Gyepes, Molnár played in the friendly game against England at Old Trafford last May. He has 11 caps.

Brazilian trialist Jeronimo Soares will be going home, but Guilherme Finkler will be staying at Molineux for a while longer.
The 21-year-old midfielder has had his trial at the club extended into next week so the coaching team can take a further look at him.
Finkler is also expected to play some part in this evening's game at Tranmere.

Ince On Shortlist

Chief executive Jez Moxey has confirmed Paul Ince is on the shortlist to become Wolves new manager.
The Guvnor wasted no time throwing his hat into the ring to take over from Hoddle after his shock resignation.
Ince had an interview with the Molineux board late last week, with Moxey confirming the 38-year-old is in the frame.

"Paul is on our shortlist," said Moxey, who was today locked in a series of meetings, which are likely to be a continuation of the interview process for the manager's job.
"Paul has put his name forward and that's no secret.
"He is very keen to get into management and he still wants to play another year and we are talking to him about a playing contract as well.
"I know Paul Ince is a very popular figure because he has had one of the most fabulous playing careers a player can have.
"He's captained his country, played in different countries and played for some of the biggest clubs in the world.
"He's now with us and he's fully behind the club."

Current caretaker boss Stuart Gray is also sure to be on the shortlist for the job, while Steve Cotterill, Tony Mowbray and Mark Venus, Gary Megson, Mick McCarthy and Joe Royle are among those linked with the post.

But Moxey has hinted that Ince, who is also in talks over a 12-month playing contract, will stay on as a player even if he is overlooked for the manager's job.
"Paul has intimated he will stay on regardless of who is appointed manager," added Moxey.
"We want to make an appointment quickly and I'm confident we will do very soon."

Burton 1-0 Wolves

Wolves slipped to their first defeat of the pre-season friendlies, losing 1-0 to Burton Albion.

Burton got the only goal of the match after 60 minutes, Drayl Clare looped a header over Murray after a cross from Gary Rowett.
Leon Clarke almost equalised, Ricketts played it short to Olofinjana and took a return pass before crossing to the far post where Clarke powered a header against the post. The ball bounced into the heart of the box where there was a scramble with both Edwards and Clyde having shots blocked before the danger was cleared.

Burton: Tomlinson, Rowett, Tinson, Austin, Webster (Brayford 73), Hall (Fowler 73), Stride (Holmes 73), Ducros (Walker 73), Gilroy, Clare (Shaw 73), Scoffham (Harrod 45).

Referee: R.Olivier.
Attendance: 1,293.

Kidderminster Friendly Off

Wolves have cancelled their pres-season friendly at Kidderminster.
The match was due to be played on Monday 31st July, but Wolves are concerned that the squad is facing too many games in too short a period just before the start of the new campaign.

Club secretary Richard Skirrow explained on WOW: "We had originally intended to field a team at Kidderminster that featured squad players who had not been involved against Aston Villa the previous Saturday. However, because of the departure of the manager Glenn Hoddle, and the difficulty in recruiting new players until he is replaced, we have a much smaller squad than anticipated.
"We can not ask senior players to play against Villa at Molineux on Saturday and again at Aggborough on Monday, with the first match of the new campaign just five days after that.
"We have made our sincere apologies to Kidderminster, and hope to take a team there for a friendly later in the season.
"I would also like to say sorry to the supporters of both clubs for any disappointment and inconvenience caused."

Jones Apologises To Sir Jack

Cardiff manager Dave Jones has issued a public apology to Wolves owner Sir Jack Hayward over comments made in a national newspaper.
Jones, who was sacked as Wolves boss in November 2004, criticised Sir Jack in a Sunday Times article last January.
In the article Jones spoke of the working relationship between the pair and the issue of transfer funds.
"I accept that such comments were unwarranted and caused offence," Jones said in his statement.
"That was never my intention and I apologise if any offence was caused."

Postma Joins Dan Haag

Dutch goalkeeper Stefan Postma has signed for Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag on a two-year-deal.
The 29-year-old moves on a free transfer because his short-term contract at Wolves expired at the end of the season.
The contract with Den Haag was signed on Friday morning and marks a return to Holland for Postma, who left De Graafschap to join Villa in 2002 and try his luck in England.

Rumours!!

It's that time of year when there are lot's of players and people linked with Wolves:

Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric has denied he is planing a £15m takeover of Wolves.
Mandaric is due to sell his remaining stake in Pompey to joint-owner Alexandre Gaydamak for £32m.
The 67-year-old told The News that recent conversations with Wolves owner Sir Jack Hayward were purely social.
Mandaric said: "I talk to Sir Jack regularly but it is only to chat. Because I am selling Pompey, people have put two and two together."

Mandaric's conversations with Hayward sparked rumours which the Pompey chairman was forced to nip in the bud by confirming: "I'm not in talks about buying Wolves."
The Pompey chairman has not declared his plans, and despite being linked with a club in Slovakia, could even stay on at Fratton Park as non-executive chairman.
Mandaric said: "If I leave Pompey altogether, then one day I might get involved with someone else, but it's not happening now."

Dougie Freedman has rubbished speculation he is about to quit Crystal Palace for a return to Wolves.
Rumours have suggested the striker, who played at Molineux for half a season in 1997-98, could be used as part of a swap deal to bring Carl Cort to Selhurst Park.
But Freedman told the South London Press: "There is no way I'm going to Wolves, or that I would want to go there. I've had my six miserable months up there and don't want to go back to Wolves."

Norwich City have played down reports that Wolves have been in touch regarding manager Nigel Worthington.
Speculation over last weekend claimed Wolves were looking to appoint Worthington as Glenn Hoddle's successor.
It was suggested the Black Country club had contacted their Championship rivals with a view to gaining permission to speak to Worthington.
But The Canaries have refuted the reports and insist no clubs have been on the phone to ask about him.
"We have received no calls from Wolves or any other club about Nigel Worthington," said a club spokesman.

Telford 0-0 Wolves

Wolves were held to a goaless draw by a lively Telford team at the Bucks Head.

Midfeilder Denes Rosa had two chances in the first three minutes. The midfielder wasn't far off the mark with a well struck 20-yard drive and then he hooked an angled shot over the bar from a tight angle after a Stephen Gleeson pass.
Then Brazilian trialist Guilherme Finkler side footed a first time effort straight at Telford keeper Stuart Brock after Rosa had sent in a centre from the left.
In the space of a few seconds Rob Edwards was in action at both ends of the field. From a Finkler corner Edwards glanced a header goalwards only for Ben Twigger to clear off the line.
Play swung straight to the other end and Edwards cleared a powerful header from Jimmy Turner off his own goal line after Richard Beale has swung over a free-kick from the right.
With 25 minutes gone Steve Foster wasted a golden chance for Telford when beat Jody Craddock but then fired over the bar with only Michael Oakes to beat.
Beale was the next man on line clearing duties when he turned away an angled shot from Rosa but it was Telford that went close again when Karl Rodgers headed against the outside of a post after a free-kick from Liam McDonald.
Just before the break Lee Collins ventured upfield but his cross-shot trickled wide of the far post under the watchful eye of Brock.

Goalmouth action was in short supply in the opening 15 minutes of the second period but it took a timely intervention from Edwards to halt the progress of Glenn Tolley who had burst through the middle and looked a certain scorer.
Craddock's header, following a corner from Ricketts, was blocked a yard from the line by Andy Jones whilst Oakes was relieved to see Karl Brown's 25-yard free-kick curl wide at the opposite end.
There were loud appeals for a home penalty after a Collins challenge on Justin Marsden but the referee shook his head.
Frankowski set up Clarke who dragged his shot wide of the far post and then the Pole hit a fierce 20-yard shot that was just a fraction too high in the final minute of the contest.

Cornes Staying At Molineux

Wolves striker Chris Cornes has been told he still has a future at Molineux despite testing positive for cocaine.
The 19-year-old will serve a six-month ban after failing a drugs test.
He has now been fined by Wolves and warned any future breach of discipline will result in the sack - but his contract will not be terminated.
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said: "Chris is grateful for the club for supporting him and regrets the embarrassment he has caused."

Wolves second came in the 67th minute, Clarke passed to Finkler who, in turn, found Gleeson and the young midfielder confidently steered the ball home from 12-yards.
Two minutes later, Finkler got his second and Wolves third, he tapped the ball into the net after a low cross from Clarke who had run in from the left following a pass from Kevin O'Connor.
In the dying seconds of the match Wolves got their fourth goal. Collins scoring a fine individual goal, he raced down the left and cut into the box beating two men before slotting an angled shot past Young.

The Guvnor who has previously said he wants to move into management, has also put himself forward for the vacant managers job.

Jez Moxey said on WOW: "We are still talking to Paul about a player contract and he has also thrown his hat into the ring regarding the manager position.
"I have encouraged him to look at them as separate issues and told him that if we are going to offer a player contract he would have to start training immediately so that he would be fit for the start of the season."

Ince added: "I need to get myself fit for the season so it was good to come back this morning and see all the lads. It was a good session."

Striker Receives Ban 6 Month Ban

From www.wolves.co.uk:

Young striker Chris Cornes is to serve a six-month playing ban after testing positive for a banned substance. His future at Wolves is now under review.
The 19-year-old from Worcester - who has yet to make a first team appearance - was randomly tested by the FA, along with other squad members, at the Compton training ground last February. The sample showed the presence of a metabolite of cocaine.
The player was charged by the FA with producing a positive test for a prohibited substance. A delay in concluding the case arose when the club, on the behalf of the player, sought clarification of the supporting paperwork to the test.
Cornes has throughout the process, which included two FA hearings and an interview, denied ever knowingly taking a banned substance and, therefore, could not explain how a positive test could have been produced. However, because of the 'strict liability' rules governing these offences, whereby any player producing a positive test is guilty of a breach of doping regulations, a ban has to automatically follow.

The FA Commission last week imposed a minimum six-month suspension from playing in any competition. However, the start date was agreed to be back-dated to April 13 - the date when Wolves had imposed an internal suspension on the player following the clarification of the issue surrounding the paperwork for the sample.
Cornes, an Academy graduate, has a contract with Wolves until June 2008. His continued employment with the club will be discussed at a scheduled board meeting later today and with football management and the PFA (Professional Footballers' Association), who represented the player at his FA hearings.

Chief executive Jez Moxey says: "We were extremely disappointed to learn that one of our players had tested positive for a banned substance.
"Players know the rules and it is constantly impressed upon them that they must act responsibly.
"Taking prohibited substances is totally unacceptable and the 'strict liability' rules put an even greater onus on them to avoid situations that put them at risk.
"We have a board meeting later today when we will discuss what has happened and make a decision about the player's future."

Wolves will issue a further statement on this matter in due course.

Transfer News

Wolves goalkeeper Stefan Postma admits he is in two minds over a possible transfer to ADO Den Haag after his contract expired at Molineux this summer.
But the 29-year-old, who wants regular first team football, is worried that a move to the Hague will land him in the midst of a relegation battle.

"I do not want to be fighting against relegation until the final day of the season," Postma told AD Sportwereld.
"On the other side, ADO is a real club of the people and the coach (Frans Adelaar) really wants to have me."

Last season's regular keepers Doris de Vries and Jaroslaw Drobny, who was on-loan from Fulham, have both left the club, leaving just Robert Zwinkels and Josh Wagenaar as competition for any new signing.
However, Postma may prefer to continue his spell abroad, with Austria Vienna having also been linked with the former De Graafschap and FC Utrecht man.

Wolves striker Carl Cort could be on his way to Crystal Palace after his brother Leon called for a family reunion.
Centre-back Leon followed former boss Peter Taylor from Hull to Palace last week and is hoping his sibling will follow him to London.

He told the South London Press: "I spoke to Carl last week and he wants to get everything sorted out as soon as possible.
"He's had a few injury problems in the past but he's still a good player.
"He would be good for Palace and the club would be good for him, because there's massive potential here.
"And for me it would be a dream come true to play in the same team as my brother."

Despite having been on the books of 11 clubs between them, the pair have never previously lined up together.
Palace have made an offer to Wolves for Cort but it was turned down.

Fee Agreed For Seol

Wolves have agreed a fee with Reading for the sale of Korean international Seol Ki-Hyeon. The deal will be £1mililion plus £500,000 depending on appearances plus a sell-on clause.
He could move to Reading when he returns to England early next week after being away on World Cup duty.

Chief executive Jez Moxey said on WOW: "We have agreed a fee but the deal will of course be subject to a medical.
"Seol is a good person and a good player but he never made the impact on the pitch that we were hoping when we signed him from Anderlecht.
"He has publicly and privately expressed his wish to leave Wolves to play in the Premier League. We had two offers from Premiership clubs and some interest from Germany as well, but it was Reading who offered a deal that both the player and Wolves found acceptable.
"We wish him well."

Seol, 27 signed at Molineux for £1.2 mil from RSC Anderlecht in August 2004 on a contract until the summer of 2008.
Last season he made 36 appearances, 10 as a sub and scored four goals.

Brazilians Having Trial

Two Brazilian midfielders had already checked into the Hotel Golf Campoamor by the time the Wolves squad arrived their last night.
Jeronimo Soares (20) and Guilherme Finkler (21) will spend the week with training with Wolves hoping to impress enough to make the breakthrough into English football.
Guilherme speaks little English but Jeronimo, or Jay as he is known, said on WOW: "We both played for the same team in Brazil - EC Juventude, although Guilherme has spent the last six months playing in Holland.
"Obviously, this is a big opportunity for us. We both want to play in England and we are grateful of having the chance to spend the week with Wolves."

Ince Applies For Job

Paul Ince has launched his bid to take over as the new manager of Wolves as he prepared to formally apply for the vacant post at Molineux.
Ince, 38 - who has captained Wolves for the last four years - wants to make his first move into management, and Ince has quickly emerged as the man Wolves fans want to fill the hot-seat.
It is the backing of the fans that has prompted Ince to apply - and his agent Steve Kutner has written to Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey to make a formal application for the job.

Kutner said: "Because he has had such overwhelming support from the fans, I have drawn up a letter confirming he would like to be considered for the manager's position.
"Paul is flattered that people would like him to be the next manager of Wolves."

Ince is one of more than 20 applicants for the post, and Moxey has made it clear the Coca-Cola Championship club will consider the merits of appointing him.
Moxey said: "At the moment we are talking to him about playing for us again next season.
"I will make him a final offer on the playing contract, and then we will address the other issue.
"But Paul has made it clear he would be honoured to be considered for the manager's job."

Moxey is keen to make a swift appointment, with the start of the new season little more than a month away, and he added: "As far as I am concerned we have to move quickly."

Meeting Delayed

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey has been delayed in his bid to persuade Glenn Hoddle to reconsider his decision to resign as manager.
The two were due to meet for talks on Monday after the former England boss tendered his resignation on Saturday.
But discussions have now been put back, with Hoddle citing a "family issue" for his no show.
Moxey said: "In the meantime, the board of directors are drawing up a plan of action."

The delay means that Hoddle's assistant, Stuart Gray, will be in charge of the squad when they fly out to Spain for a pre-season training camp later on Monday.
Gray has been installed as an early favourite to succeed his former boss if he does indeed leave Molineux, alongside veteran midfielder Paul Ince, who had been due to discuss his future at Wanderers with Hoddle and Moxey.
Ince will not travel to Spain with the rest of the squad and is now out of contract.

The squad travelling is: Michael Oakes, Matt Murray, Jackie McNamara, Rob Edwards, Lee Naylor, Mark Davies, Carl Cort, Seyi Olofinjana, Denes Rosa, Tomasz Frankowski, Jody Craddock, Mark Clyde, Keith Lowe, Wayne Hennessey, Leon Clarke, Lewis Gobern, Stephen Gleeson, Mark Little, Martin Riley, Daniel Jones, Carl Ikeme, Kevin O'Connor, Stuart Gray, Carl Hoddle , Kunle Odetoyinbo, Bobby Mimms, Terry Connor, Steve Kemp, Mark James (Masseur).

Hoddle Resigns

From WOW:

Statement from Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey re manager Glenn Hoddle.
"I had an unexpected call from the manager Glenn Hoddle at about 3 o'clock this afternoon (Saturday). He told me he was resigning with immediate effect.
"I asked him to reconsider but he said that his mind was made up. However, he did agree to meet with me on Monday.
"We will issue a further statement in due course."

In a statement released by his representatives to the media this afternoon, Glenn is reported saying: "I wish to announce my decision, with immediate effect, to resign as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club.
"It has been a very difficult decision but I feel that my expectations and the club's expectations have drifted too far apart in recent weeks. This decision has been made early in pre-season for the benefit of the club.
"I would like to take the opportunity of thanking the board, players, staff and fans for their support and efforts and wish everyone connected with Wolverhampton Wanderers every success in the future."
