Sami Al Jaber has returned to England from his participation in the Asian Cup and could be on the bench, on loan defender Darren Peacock could be playing after Wolves received verbal permission from Blackburn to play him. Kevin Muscat is struggling with a knee injury, Ludovic Pollet looks certain to be missing because of a gashed eye and Ryan Green is suspended.
Also Tony Dinning is cup-tied and there are doubts surrounding Neil Emblen and a recent bout of food poisoning.

 Reserves Loose

Wolves reserves lost to Huddersfield Town reserves on Monday evening at Molineux, but the good news from the match was that George Ndah played with no problems.

 Taylor Mistake

Wolves owner Sir Jack Hayward has said it was a mistake to get rid of Graham Taylor 5 years ago.
Sir Jack said "If we had stuck with Graham and given him more time, he would have got us into the Premiership, I've no doubts about that at all.
"Forget what happened while he was manager of England because that was an impossible job. His track record in club management speaks for itself and I just wish he had stayed at Molineux."

Pollet Update

Ludovic Pollet is trying to be fit for Wolves' Worthington Cup tie against Fulham on Wednesday at Craven Cottage, after suffering a nasty gash above his left eye following a clash of heads with Hornets defender Neil Cox during Wolves draw against Watford at Molineux.
Colin Lee revealed afterwards that the former Le Havre star had to have nine stitches inserted into the wound.

 Injury Update

Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray could be out for the rest of the season, he has suffered a cruciate ligament injury.
The 19 year old picked up the problem while on loan with Conference outfit Kingstonian and he'll now be sidelined for at least six months.
Colin Lee said: "The likelihood is that Matt will need reconstructive surgery. If that is the case he will be out for a long time."

 Ndah Return

George Ndah has returned to training and will turn out for Wolves second string against Huddersfield Town on Monday.
The Wolves striker has been beset by injury problems since his £1 million move from Swindon Town, but he has managed to shake off his latest injury and is now back in full training with the first team squad.

Taylor Injured Again

Wolves striker Robert Taylor is back in the Molineux treatment room after suffering a fresh calf injury.
Taylor has not enjoyed the best of times with injuries since his move from Manchester City, and he was forced out of last Saturday's draw with Fulham with a calf strain.

TRANSFER SITUATION CLARIFIED (copied from www.wolves.co.uk)

Chief Executive Jez Moxey has explained the club's stance in view of the European Commission's challenge of the legality of the existing transfer system.
Like a lot of other clubs in the Premier and Nationwide Leagues, Wolves won't be offering large sums of money for players until the situation has been resolved.
But the Wolves board haven't ruled out bringing in any new blood altogether and would listen to any requests made by Colin Lee.
"We have confirmed to the manager, and confirmed publicly, that we would look at any player that Colin may wish to bring to Molineux," said the Chief Executive.
"Certainly, if we can find players in the mould of Tony Dinning, we would do everything we possibly could to make finance available.
"In fact, today, I've been talking to the agents about the ongoing situation with Mohamed Camara.
"The manager is keen to make that a permanent move so it may well be a transfer where we pay a fee to Le Havre for him.
"I wanted to clear that point up because I wouldn't want the fans to think that we'd suddenly said we're not going to spend any more money on players."The speedy Camara, who impressed in Wolves pre-season warm-up, has made six first team appearances for Wolves since his loan from his parent club in France began.

 Another Injury

Wolves young goalkeeper Matt Murray, who has spent much of his professional career at Molineux on the injured list, has once again been sidelined.
He damaged the cartilage in his left knee just 20 minutes into his one months loan debut for Kingstonian at table topping Yeovil.
Matt had gone to the Conference club to get some first team experience. Though he was able to complete the game, as there was no substitute keeper on the bench, he admitted it was a struggle after he'd hurt the knee.

Wolves: Utility player Neil Emblem is out of the Wolves line-up with a thigh strain, but Robert Taylor and Michael Branch are both bidding for a return to the action after recovering from a groin injury and knee problem respectively.

Barnsley: manager Dave Bassett is likely to select from an unchanged squad for the visit of Wolves tonight. Captain Steve Chettle was carrying an injury at the weekend and was only used as a substitute, but could return to the defence after two successive draws for the Tykes.

 Branch v Lee

Wolves Striker Michael Branch stormed away from Molineux shortly before kick-off on Saturday when told he wasn't playing in the clash with First Division leaders Fulham,  although he had reportedly passed a lunchtime fitness test on a tight hamstring.
The walk-out prompted calls from watching fans to local radio phone-ins and underlined the 22-year-old's bitter unhappiness at being left out of the 16.
Now Colin Lee has to decide whether to hand an immediate recall at Barnsley tomorrow night to Branch, who was back training with the rest of the squad yesterday.
Lee very much prefers his players to stay and watch games in which they are not playing, although it is not thought to be complusory.
Disciplinary action is therefore unlikely.

Loan Missed

Crystal Palace have signed Steve Staunton for a months loan, with the possibility of extending his stay with The Eagles. Ending the speculation that Wolves were going to sign him.

22nd October 2000

 Date Swap

Wolves reserve game at Preston North End, scheduled for next Wednesday 25th October, has been postponed because of the Deepdale club's first team commitments.
It will now be played on Monday, 18th December.

 Taylor Doubtful

Robert Taylor is rated as extremely doubtful for Wolves' trip to Barnsley on Tuesday with a calf injury.
Colin Lee will be hoping he can call on the free-scoring attacker after watching his side find the back of the net just once in the last three games.
George Ndah is still definitely out of action after aggravating a groin injury last week.

 Team News

Wolves: Manager Colin Lee was today checking the fitness of defender Kevin Muscat (knee), utility man Neil Emblen (thigh), midfielder Simon Osborn (back) and forward Robert Taylor (calf). Lee is also contemplating a recall for Temuri Ketsbaia, who has slipped out of favour in recent weeks following his opening day goal explosion.

 Ndah Comeback Dented

There was more bad news for George Ndah who didn't make Wednesday's friendly with Notts County because of a groin strain that he picked up in training.
It's the latest in a string of niggling injuries that the striker has suffered since recovering from a broken leg.

 Another Loan Spell

Wolves young goalkeeper Matt Murray is off for a months loan with Kingstonian who are stuck at the bottom of the Conference League. Matt who missed all of last season because of injury, recently had a short spell with Slough Town.
And if Matt plays for Kingstonian on Saturday then he is in for a busy debut as he will be facing a Yeovil team that currently head the Conference league.

19th October 2000

 Muscat Still Out

Wolves captain Kevin Muscat looks certain to again be missing when Wolves take on unbeaten Fulham at Molineux on Saturday.
There were hopes that he would be fit for the big local derby against West Brom at the Hawthorns.
But Colin Lee revealed Muscat suffered a further breakdown when the knee was tested.

Green To Miss Out

Ryan Green's red card in the Black Country derby game means that he will be suspended for Wolves Worthington Cup tie at Fulham.
The Welsh under 21 skipper was shown the yellow card twice within four minutes towards the end of the first half.
Ironically he only just recovered from a calf strain in time to take part in a game that was, for him, to end early following two fouls on former Wolves striker Jason Roberts.

 Defender Linked

Wolves have been linked with a big money move for Finnish international defender Hannu Tikanen.
The Viking Stavanger player starred for Finland in their recent World cup qualifier against England in Helsinki.

Staunton Update

It's reported Steve Staunton is in talks with Wolves regarding a loan move to Molineux.
The loan deal could be with a view to a permanent deal after Staunton was handed a free transfer by Premiership outfit Liverpool.

18th October 2000

 Ref's Wrong

Wolves Manager Colin Lee was not pleased with some of referee Clive Wilkes decisions in last night's 1-0 defeat at West Brom.
Lee described the award of a penalty to West Brom from which Lee Hughes grabbed the winning goal as a dubious decision.
The manager complained: "He also gave Ryan Green his marching orders when the young defender's first yellow was no more than a shoulder to shoulder challenge."
Meanwhile, the boss complained of inconsistency after Lee Hughes did not receive a yellow card when he appeared to deliberately kick the ball away, a booking which if it had been given would have seen the striker receive his marching orders for a second yellow card.
Lee added: "If you are to follow the line of the law you have got stick to it. It seems there is a rule for some players and another for the rest."
Lee admitted Green was devastated by his red card, while conceding that the young defender's yellow card was valid.
The manager, who felt television evidence also proved the challenge by Darren Peacock on Hughes for the penalty was not worthy of a spot kick, added: "The referee needlessly put himself under pressure."

 Ketsbaia Not Picked

There was no sign of the Georgian star Temuri Ketsbaia at the Hawthorns and Wolves manager Colin Lee revealed afterwards that he had been dropped out of choice.
Some speculation has suggested that Ketsbaia, who joined Wolves for £900,000, is unhappy about not being given a regular first team place. But Lee has made it clear players get into the team on merit and he picks the men he feels will win matches.

 Team News

Ludovic Pollet will be fit to face West Brom Tomorrow.
Pollet was taken off and replaced by Joleon Lescott eleven minutes from time at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday, but Lee has confirmed that he's not injured and will be available to face West Brom this week.
Colin Lee is expected to give on loan defender Darren Peacock his first start for Wolves on Tuesday against West Brom at the Hawthorns.
The 32 year old made a brief appearance as a substitute at Bolton on Saturday, and he's now expected to start in central defence alongside Ludovic Pollet against the Baggies.

Another Striker Needed

Colin Lee has identified the need for a 25-goals-a-season striker after re-opening the controversy over the sale of Ade Akinbiyi.
The Wolves boss watched his team miss the lion's share of opportunities as they crashed to a 2-1 defeat at bogey team Bolton at the weekend.
The lack of goals is beginning to concern the Wolves boss, with only one goal coming from open play in the last three games.
"We need a player who is a 25-goals-a-season job," groaned Lee. "But we do not have that."
"I am disappointed that that player was sold," he said in reference to the £5m sale of Akinbiyi. "We did it with Akinbiyi and with Robbie Keane."

 Peacock Signs On Loan

Colin Lee has signed Darren Peacock on a months loan to try and ease his defence problem, I've seen him play at Hereford Utd where they used to call him Psycho because of his tackling techniques.

13th October 2000

Team news

Bolton: Defender Mark Fish and goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen have returned unscathed from international duty and will face Wolves.

Wolves: Colin Lee has defensive problems with Kevin Muscat and Ryan Green likely to join Steve Sedgley and Ludovic Pollet on the sidelines.

Muscat has a knee injury while Green picked up a calf problem on international duty with Wales. Sedgley will be out for three months following a knee operation, and Pollet's return from injury was hampered by a red card early in his comeback game for the reserves.

 Defender Interest

Wolves have turned their sights to Blackburn's Darren Peacock in their search for an experienced central defender. Ewood Park boss Graeme Souness today confirmed that an enquiry had been received from Molineux for a player who is available almost immediately - either on loan or permanently.
And Wolves boss Colin Lee, while declining to discuss Peacock, has admitted he is hot on the trail of several potential targets.
"We have made many enquiries," Lee said today. "The search is on-going and we looked at players who were on international duty this week.
"We are short in that position, with Ludovic Pollet just coming back from injury and then having a suspension later this month.
"And Joleon Lescott is due to go off with the England youths in November."

 Sedgley Update

Steve Sedgley has been ruled out of action for at least three months, following surgery in Bradford yesterday.
The utility man underwent an operation to investigate the discomfort he has been feeling in his left knee. The surgical team found, and removed, a piece of flaked bone.
"We have been told that there will be a minimum recovery period of three months," says manager Colin Lee.
"It's a blow to Steve and the club. He is a versatile and valuable member of the squad. Now we've lost Steve as well as Scott Taylor to long term injuries."

12th October 2000

 Green Injured

Wolves Defender Ryan Green has added to the never-ending selection problems at Molineux, after limping off with a calf injury during Wales Under-21s defeat in Poland on Tuesday.
Green, who has deputised for the injured Wolves captain Kevin Muscat during his current spell in the first team at Molineux, was in his longest run in the limelight of his career.
However, Green grumbled: "This is the last thing I wanted after just starting to establish myself as a First Division player. I had to wait almost two years for another chance following my first-team debut. But I'm going to be struggling for the next couple of games."

 Captain Emblen?

Neil Emblen is on alert for another call-up to the Wolves captaincy.
The popular utility man, who stood in as skipper in last month's 4-0 Molineux slaughter of Norwich, will be handed the armband again if Kevin Muscat and Simon Osborn miss Saturday's tough trip to Bolton.
"Choosing a captain isn't a high priority at this stage," said manager Colin Lee. "It's more about trying to get players available again."

11th October 2000

 Injuries Update

Wolves manager Colin Lee has revealed that Kevin Muscat is facing a race against time to be fit for Saturday's trip to the Reebok Stadium to take on Bolton.
Lee said: "It is definitely a case of touch and go. Kevin is still suffering some discomfort and all we can do is keep our fingers crossed."
If Muscat is forced out of Wolves game at Bolton Lee will be hoping he will be back to one hundred percent fitness for next Tuesday's big local derby against West Brom at the Hawthorns.

Ludovic Pollet could be fit to face Bolton on Saturday, despite missing vital match practice when he was sent off in the reserves this week.
The French defender was red carded for the second string against Burnley on Monday night, and that has left the 30 year old with little chance to sharpen up his match skills ahead of the weekend.
However, Colin Lee has not given up hope of Pollet being fit, and he revealed: "We are putting in a lot of extra effort in training for Ludo to get in the work he missed on Monday night.
"Ludo really needs to play matches but he has been training hard and he has been doing a lot of hill runs. There is still an outside chance that he will be ready to play at the Reebok Stadium."
Pollet will now be suspended for Wolves game at Barnsley on October 24th.

Steve Sedgley's hopes of an early return to the action have taken a knock with the news that he is to have a knee operation on Wednesday.
The defender-midfielder missed most of the club's pre-season build up and the first two games of the campaign following surgery on the knee at the beginning of the summer.

 Reserves Miss Going Top

Wolves reserves missed going top of the Avon Insurance Premier League last night when they lost 3-0 to Burnley at Molineux. The final score was 3-0, and Wolves had Ludovic Pollet sent off in the 21st minute for pulling on someone's shirt.

 Injury Update

Kevin Muscat is rated as doubtful for Saturday's game at Bolton, because there is concern over the injury that he picked up in last week's cup tie against Grimsby.
The Wolves captain had a scan on the wound over at the weekend. The results revealed that he had damage to the lateral knee ligaments and, despite receiving intensive treatment, he could be missing from the action, for only the second time this season, at the Reebok Stadium.

 Youth Team Results

The Wolves youth teams were in action on the weekend, the under 19s beet Middlesbrough 3-1 with goals from Jermaine Easter, Shane Barratt and Andrew Morrow.
The under 17s weren't so fortunate and they finished a well beaten side slipping to a 4-0 defeat at Blackburn. Coach Keith Downing said: "It was good education for our boys.

"Blackburn were a strong side who moved the ball about well so though the result was disappointing, I'm hoping they can learn something from plsying against a really good side."

 Keegan's Resigned

Kevin Keegan has resigned as Englands Manager after England lost there last ever football match at Wembley, the Germans scored the only goal from a free kick in the first half. Keegan said "He felt he'd given the jobn his best shot, but had become convinced he hadn't got what it took to remain in charge of the national team"

 Injuries Update

Three influential Wolves players are on the verge of a return to fitness, Ludovic Pollet, Simon Osborn and Steve Sedgley all successfully came through a behind-closed-doors practice match at Compton Park on Friday.
There are hopes that Pollett and Osborn could be fit to face Bolton at the Reebok Stadium next Saturday, if they come through the reserves' Avon Insurance clash with Burnley on Monday.
Sedgely is struggling after the knee he had operated on, flared up, but Robert Taylor should be fit after undergoing treatment after twisting his ankle last week.

 New Date

Wolves have announced the date for their home game with Grimsby Town, which should have been played today but was postponed because of international call-ups involving several Molineux men. It will now be played on Tuesday 21st November.

6th October 2000

 Osborne Return

Simon Osborn is expected to shake off the hamstring injury (he got in the first half of the home game with Sheffield United) and make his long awaited return to action at Bolton a week on Saturday.
The £1 million midfielder has been sidelined for the last five games, but Colin Lee said: "He is well on course for a return to the senior side."
Osborn is expected to line-up in the reserves against Burnley at Molineux on Monday, and providing he comes through unscathed, he should return to the first team for the trip to the Reebok Stadium.

5th October 2000

 Another Injury

Kevin Muscat has now joined the ever increasing injury list at Molineux, the Wolves captain sustained lateral ligament damage to his right knee during the second half of Monday night's 2-0 Worthington Cup success over Grimsby.
Muscat has had to withdraw from his international duty with Australia who face Kuwait and Korea in the United Arab Emirates Cup.
Wolves manager Colin Lee said he would be under treatment for the next few days and hopefully he would be fit for the next game against Bolton a week Saturday.

4th October 2000prizes.asp

 Cup Update

Wolves will play Fulham on Wednesday, 1st November in the third round of the Worthington Cup at Craven Cottage, just ten days after the clubs meet for a League game at Molineux.

 Injury Updates

Neil Emblen's Achilles tendon injury that kept him out of Wolves match at Nottingham Forest on Saturday, has thankfully cleared up as quickly as it had appeared.
Neil was cleared to play in the Cup tie with Grimsby and he came through the game with no ill effects.

 Reserves Draw

Wolves Reserves got a point at Stockport County with a 0-0 draw, but good news about Ludovic Pollet, as he played for the first half of the game and completed the first phase of a recovery programme. Providing Pollet suffers no reaction from last night's run out, he is scheduled to play in a full scale practice match on Friday and then figure for the reserves when they take on Burnley at Molineux on Monday. And if all that goes without a hiccup, a return at Bolton a week on Saturday must be on the cards.

3rd October 2000

 Rubins Too Expensive

Wolves will not be signing on-trial Latvian under-21 winger Andrejs Rubins, after he has attracted interest from Premiership giants Arsenal and being quoted a starting price of £1.5m to secure his signature.
Colin Lee said: "If the asking price was right for us then we would be interested in adding him to our squad, but at the moment we are being quoted around £1.5m and we are not interested at that price."

The Wolves boss also won't be watching him on international duty this week, but will keep an eye on the players progress and availability.
"We know the player having seen him play for our reserves and having had him train with us for a while so it's pointless going out to watch him at the weekend," added Lee. "But we will continue to talk to the people involved and monitor the situation."

2nd October 2000

Worthington Cup Round 2, Leg 2

The smallest crowd at Molineux this season saw Wolves progress to the next round of the Worthington Cup, with goals from Proudlock and a Muscat penalty final score was 2-0 Wolves going through 4-3 on aggregate. Wolves will now play Fulham at Craven Cottage in the 3rd Round.

 Team News

Wolves will be without 10 first team players tonight as they try to overturn a 3-2 deficit against Grimsby in the second leg at Molineux.
Lee, who has added 18-year-olds Colin Larkin and Shane Tudor to the squad. With Taylor and Emblen needing extra time to recover and the distressed Ketsbaia in London with his family after his Father-In-Law died, all three are ruled out tonight.

Ludovic Pollet, Simon Osborn, George Ndah, Havaard Flo, Steve Sedgley, Scott Taylor, Emblen, Ketsbaia and Robert Taylor are all out, while Tony Dinning, who is cup-tied, brings the number of players Wolves are without up to 10.

1st October 2000

Another Trialist

Moroccan international Said Chiba is having a trial at Wolves.
The former Compastelle midfielder, who starred for Morocco in France '98, impressed in the Nancy midfield last season despite their relegation from the French top flight, but they transfer listed him during the summer.
Wolves could pay £500,000 if they decide to sign him.

Defender Needed

Ludovic Pollet is two weeks away from a return for Wolves, he took the first steps towards recovery from a hernia operation by joining the first team for training on Thursday, but manager Colin Lee is still intent on bringing in a defender.
Lee has pencilled in the former Le Havre central defender in to play part of the reserves game at Stockport on Tuesday as he continues to build up his fitness.
Lee Said: "I would hope Ludo would play some part in the reserves next week, we would then look to play him in a practice match on Friday and the Burnley reserve match on the Monday so he will hopefully be ready to play at Bolton two weeks today."
The news comes at a time when Wolves have secured the release of Joleon Lescott from the European Mini Championships in Italy with England under-18s.
