Friendly Victory
Wolves under 19s won their friendly
with Northern Ireland 2-0 in pouring rain at Lilleshall yesterday. Keith
Andrews had been given permission to play in the game and completed 90
minutes. Also included was central defender Ludo Pollet, but he had to come off after taking a kick. The pair were looking to step up their fitness levels as they
return from injury.
Jimmi Lee Jones got both of Wolves goals. The first in the 16th minute from eight-yards out after Lewis Gobern pulled the ball back from the byline.
After 31 minutes Jones got his second, Marlon Walters passed to him he ran around their centre
half and scored from just inside the area.

Injury and Suspension Update
Alex Rae missed last night's
match with a thigh strain and Shaun Newton had the flu. Nathan Blake hurt
his foot during the game but played on and scored a hat-trick! He should
be back in training on Thursday. Mark Kennedy has pulled out the under 19s friendly with Northern Ireland at
Lilleshall this morning. Wolves had got permission to play two over age players in the game so that
Kennedy and Andrews could get some match practice as they make their comebacks from injury.
Manager Dave Jones explained on WOW: "Mark feels that he’s not quite ready yet. He’s been out a long while and is feeling a bit tired after stepping up his training. The last thing we want to do is force him to play and them have him pull something.
"We need to be careful with him and if he feels he needs a bit longer then that’s what we’ll do. We are reassessing him every day and will hopefully look to have him involved in a game next week."
George Ndah is facing a one-match suspension after
his fifth yellow card this season against Gillingham last night. He will
now miss Wolves visit to Coventry on November 16th.
Paul Ince, Kevin Cooper and Nathan Blake are all one yellow card away from a ban.
Match Reaction
Wolves boss Dave Jones
said after last night's victory: "There was no doubt in my view that
it was a penalty and you only have to go in the dressing room now and see
Jason's foot to know that he played on with a nasty knock.
"It was a clear penalty in my view but if we had been at home in
front of 30,000 fans they would have been screaming it wasn't a penalty as
well.
"Nathan had an opportunity to score a goal and the one thing he is
not going to do is go down. There was a lot of abuse going around the
ground after that but we're used to that and I'm sure that when crowds are
abusing one of your players they must be doing something right.
"I thought we dealt with the situation rather well considering there
was a lot of hostility out there. It was a case of keeping our heads, keep
moving the ball around and not getting involved in anything."
He added: "We're getting stronger as a side, everybody seemed to know
what was happening at the club and we just carried on doing what I thought
was right.
"Now it's paying dividends but there is still a long, long way to go.
I thought we did a professional job here tonight and the players certainly
went out with the right attitude."

Gillingham: Mark
Saunders, Paul Smith and Marlon King are all struggling to be fit.
King is the biggest doubt with a knee problem, while boss Andy
Hessenthaler expects Smith and Saunders to be passed fit. Rod Wallace is
again missing due to a hamstring problem.
Wolves: have
passed defender Mark Clyde fit for the Priestfield clash despite picking
up a head injury in the weekend win over Grimsby.
It means Dave Jones has the same squad to choose from, although long-term
absentees Mark Kennedy (groin) and Keith Andrews (knee) are still some way
off full match fitness.
Youth Results
Wolves Under 17s lost 4-0 at
Man City on the weekend. They were two down with only 20 minutes gone and conceded a third just before the interval,
the fourth coming in the second half.
The Under 19s beat Man City 2-1 at Compton Park on Saturday. Leon Clarke
scored both Wolves goals, his first beat the keeper with a shot from the edge of the
area after 32 minutes. His second came with an hour gone, finishing with a low shot from 12-yards.
Man City pulled one back with around 15 minutes left and Leon had the opportunity of
a hat-trick when Gary Mulligan was pulled down in the box, but he put the ball wide of the post from the spot
kick.

Match Reaction
Wolves boss Dave Jones said
after yesterday's victory "I will take credit for the substitutions!
It does not surprise me that we have won. The dressing room here is good
but you have to have that work effort for the ability to come out. Maybe
we lost that for a while and got our fingers burned.
"The most pleasing thing is that we have now got that back. We
started very brightly and we are getting our injured players back. That
makes a big difference.
"We said it was a long season and to start writing teams off at this
stage is crazy."

Wolves: welcome
back captain Paul Butler after suspension. Manager Dave Jones has various
options because first-choice goalkeeper Michael Oakes has played a full
game for the reserves after a shoulder injury but may not dislodge young
deputy Matt Murray, who has been outstanding - while Mark Clyde, Colin
Cameron and Keith Andrews could all be available.
Wolves have confirmed striker Adam Proudlock has gone to Tranmere on loan.
Grimsby: player-manager Paul Groves (thigh) and defender
John McDermott (calf) are major injury doubts. Iain Ward will deputise for
the latter, while Steve Chettle (back) remains a long-term casualty and
goalkeeper Steve Croudson is making good progress in his rehabilitation after a shoulder operation.
24th October 2002
Proudlock To Go Out On Loan
Wolves young striker Adam Proudlock is set to go out on loan
again, this time to Tranmere Rovers. Proudlock hasn't started a match for
Wolves this season and made just five substitute appearances so boss Dave Jones
wants him to gain some fresh first team experience.
Chief executive Jez Moxey said on WOW:
"We received the inquiry from Tranmere and want to encourage our young players, who are not regularly involved in the first team, to go out on loan and get some
experience."
"It has worked well with Mark Clyde and JJ Melligan and although Adam is a lot closer to the first team it won’t harm him to go out on loan for a month."
"We’re hoping that the matter will be wrapped up tomorrow."
Reserves Win
Wolves reserves beat Preston
reserves 1-0 at Deepdale yesterday evening, Wolves included seven youth players in their
team. After 25 minutes, Sammy Clingan put Wolves ahead with a superb
strike from 30-yards out. Full back John Fitter cleared off the line after
Oakes had been beaten with five minutes to go and the victory moved Wolves
up to fifth place in the Avon Insurance Premier League table.
Preston reserves: Lucas, Hallam, Edwards (Langmead 65), Eaton, Jackson, Barry-Murphy, Anderson, Etuhu (McCormack 71), Mears, Bailey, Lewis (Mercer 65).
Unused subs: Neal, Curwen.
Wolves reserves: Oakes, Fitter, Naylor, Walters, McChrystal, Townsend, Jones (Gobern 62), Ward, Proudlock,
Clingan, Cooper.
Unused subs: Solly, Flynn, Mahon, Clarke.

Pollet Goes Home
Wolves defender Ludo Pollet has
returned home to France for more treatment to his back injury. Pollet has
made only one appearance in the first team this season in the Worthington
Cup game at Swansea and would have been one Dave Jones choices to replace
suspended Paul Butler for the Stoke game. But physio Barry Holmes explained
on WOW: "Ludo has
had a problem with his upper back for a few weeks now and it’s steadily
got worse to the point where he needs specialised care and rest.
"He has already had some treatment from a consultant in Paris who is a
recognised therapist who has worked on some of Europe’s top athletes and
footballers including the French national team.
"Now Ludo has gone back to see him again and to rest until he feels fit
enough to resume training. Unfortunately, it isn’t the kind of condition
that you can put any time scale on regarding recovery."
Pollet vowed to stay at Molineux and fight to regain his place in the first
team along with Mo Camara, who is targeting a return to training in three
weeks time as he continues his recovery from a cartilage operation.
The French defender underwent knee surgery a month ago after complaining of
discomfort but he is already building his fitness in the gym and with the
club physio and is hoping to return to full training within the next three
weeks.

Injury Update
Wolves defender Denis Irwin
should be fit for Saturday, Irwin received a nasty kick on the shin during
the win over Stoke on Saturday and had treatment on the injury over the
weekend.
Midfielder Keith Andrews and Winger Mark Kennedy are ready to start
challenging for first-team places, the pair are back in full training but aren't
expected to be ready in time for Saturday because they are short of match
fitness.
But there is no place for them in the reserves line-up who travel to
Preston on Wednesday.
Youth Result
Wolves under 19s drew 0-0 with
Stoke at the weekend. The team have two friendlies coming up to prepare
for the FA Youth Cup, they play Northern Ireland under 19s at Lilleshall on Wednesday
30th October and then Arsenal on the 5th November. The Youth Cup match
will be played in the first week of December.
20th October 2002
Match Reaction
Wolves boss Dave Jones said
after Wolves win: "All wins are great results, but it was the manner
of this one which was most pleasing.
"I thought it was a very good all-round team performance,
particularly in the second half which we controlled.
"There is no more pressure on me than the everyday pressure which
goes with the job. We are getting our players back from injury, and I'm
confident we will be okay."

going to the Caribbean Islands of Trinidad and Tobago for their pre-season
tour next year. Assistant manager John Ward and chief scout George Foster
are already over there to check facilities at a proposed training camp.
Chief executive Jez Moxey said on WOW: "Nothing is yet confirmed but we are looking at the possibility of taking part in a three game tour. The proposal is to play a top club side, an all-star team and the national side.
"John and George have gone out to have a look at the training facilities and accommodation that would be available to us if the trip goes ahead."
Injury Update
Wolves midfielder Colin Cameron
played 60 minutes yesterday in a practice match between two Wolves teams
and even scored one of two goals to help his side to victory. He is now
hoping to figure in Wolves match at Stoke next Saturday after being
out of action since August. Kieth Andrews is also hoping to make his
comeback at the Stoke game, he played around 45 minutes of the friendly.
Mark Kennedy who is now back in full training but hasn't played any
competitive football was also hoping to return against Stoke, but he may
be forced to wait.
Cameron said on WOW:
"It felt good to be playing again."
"Scoring made it all the more sweeter and I seem to have come through it OK."

Friendly Cancelled
Wolves had arranged a
behind-closed-doors friendly at Wolves training ground today with
Birmingham City, but the Blues cancelled this morning. The fixture was
arranged to give players returning from injury the opportunity to get some
match practice after Wolves match against Portsmouth was postponed on the
weekend.
Birmingham decided that their injured
players were not quite fit enough to take part and pulled out so an in-house
game is now being played with mix of youth and reserves playing an 11 v 11
match. Colin Cameron, Keith Andrews and Ludo Pollet are returning from
injury to take part.

has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent. The 32-year-old joined Wolves on loan in March
2001 from Stockport then signed a full contract that summer. But he has made
only 12 full starts and come on as a substitute three times whilst at Molineux.
This news means that Marc Edworthy might now be offered a full contract,
he has been playing for the club on a non-contract basis.
Another Molineux youngster Kenny Coleman,
is set to sign a one-month loan deal with Kidderminster.
9th October 2002
Injuries Update
Wolves could have Colin
Cameron, Keith Andrews and Mark Kennedy all back from injury for the trip
to Stoke next week.
Cameron has been out with a knee injury since the third game of the
season. Kennedy and Andrews have missed the start of the season after
undergoing surgery to repair their injury problems.
Wolves have received confirmation of Paul Butler's
one-match ban for accumulating five bookings which rules him out of the
Stoke match. Ludo Pollet is back in full training following a back problem
but is well short of sharpness, so 19 year old defender Mark Clyde who is
currently on loan at Third Division Kidderminster may be called back and
put into the first team.

Division One leaders Portsmouth which was postponed because of to international call-ups, has been rescheduled for

Call-Ups, So Match Off
As expected Wolves match against
Portsmouth on Saturday 12th October has been postponed because of
international call ups. Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray and defender Joleon
Lescott have been called up to the England under 21 squad to play Slovakia
(next Friday) and Macedonia (following Tuesday).
England under 21 team manager David Platt was at the Sheff Utd game to watch
the pair in action.
Murray said on WOW:
"I didn't know what to say when the gaffer called me to tell me. I was
just so surprised. Obviously I'm delighted to be picked but I couldn't
believe it because it's come so early for me.
"I've played so few games, I never once thought this could happen.
These last few weeks have been like a dream.
"Everyone's been great - Bobby (Mimms) called me on Friday to say
congratulations and I've got to say a big thank you to him for all the hard
work he's put in with me since I came back from my injuries. The same goes
for all the physio's and coaching staff."
Lescott made his under 21 debut a few weeks ago and said: "I'm pleased
that Matt's been called up. It will be great the two of us going together.
He's had such a fantastic time these last few weeks and has worked really
hard to get a reward like this.
"All the lads are really happy for him."
Ivar Ingimarsson is the third player that has been called up for
International duty. He will be with Iceland against Scotland and Lithuania.
No new date has been arranged yet for Molineux meeting with Pompey.
Match Reaction
Wolves disappointed boss Dave
Jones admitted he was "annoyed and angry" at their dismal display.
"We have got to be strong, we have got to show character if we are to
dig ourselves out of the hole we have put ourselves in."
"We have lost the foundations I set when I first arrived. The steel has
gone and we are not working hard enough as a team."
Jones added: "The morale in the dressing room is good - it's confidence
that is low."
Jones said he felt he was not under pressure. "I am sure people would
tell me - the board - but I am not getting those vibes.
"Everyone knows I want to get out of this division and I am determined
to do it with Wolves."

on the transfer list last season after making just seven first team
appearances, and has played only at reserve team level this season.

signed full terms in a deal that cost £500,000.
Reserve and Youth Results

lost 2-1 at Barnsley last night. Barnsley took a 39th minute lead. Hayward
played a neat one-two with Bertos before slipping the ball past Solly from
close range. In the 70th minute Wolves leveled through Lewis Gobern. Graham
Ward had a free-kick half cleared and Gobern latched onto the ball and sent
a curling shot into the top corner. But the home side took the again after

2nd October 2002
Match Reaction
Dave Jones said on WOW
after Wolves exit from the Worthington Cup: “The goals we let in were poor
on our part.
“One was a penalty, the other direct from a throw in. It show’s a lack
of professionalism.
“We were comfortable once we took control and got ourselves a 3-1 lead.
They weren’t coming at us or threatening, but then an apparent handball
changed everything.
“I shall reserve judgement until I’ve watched the incident again but if
a player raises his hand it’s not a mistake. You can’t afford to do
something like that.
“But, we have to accept that we didn’t play in the first half. In the
second we got more gritty and battled away to get back into the game but
that lasted for 30 minutes instead of 45. We just didn’t keep that going.
Our defenders stopped chasing and we gave away silly balls.”
“I feel sorry for the fans who’ve travelled up here tonight, hoping to
see a game. We’re all disappointed and frustrated but we’ve got to look
forward and focus on Saturday’s League game against Sheffield United.”

Injury and Transfer Update
Wolves defender 'Super Mo'
Camara has had surgery on a knee injury and now faces around two months on
the sidelines.
The Wolves fans favourite had lost his place in the first team full-back Lee
Naylor this season after and Camara was linked with a move to Luton, but
decided to stay and fight for his first-team place.
Wolves boss Dave Jones said: "We sent Mo to see a specialist and, when
he looked into the knee, he found the damage was more serious than we first
thought.
"Now it will be two months before he will be back in the game. It is
disappointing for the player and for the team."
American trialist keeper Ian
Feuer has left Molineux after demanding a big contract, he joined originally
on a non-contract basis to act as cover for the injured Michael Oakes.
Wolves boss Dave Jones said: "He wanted a big contract but that is
something that we are not prepared to do."
