Wolves: defender Joleon
Lescott (knee) faces a race to be fit for the clash with Plymouth.
Paul Ince is also struggling after surgery to remove an in-growing toenail.
Lee Naylor has a dead leg, but Carl Cort has recovered from a series of back
spasms and is expected to feature.
Plymouth: new signing
Scott Taylor goes straight into the squad following his £100,000 switch
from Blackpool - Taylor or Mickey Evans will replace want-away striker
Stevie Crawford.
Central defender Graham Coughlan is again suspended.
Townsend Joins Cheltenham
18 year old academy defender
Michael Townsend has joined Cheltenham Town on an 18 month contract.
Wolves have cancelled his Academy scholarship at Molineux so he could sign
professional terms with Cheltenham.
He will be be joining up with former Wolves assistant boss John Ward who is
manager and his assistant boss Keith Downing who coached the youngster
at youth level.
The central defender did not make a senior appearance for Wolves, but was a
regular for their reserves.

Two New Players Wanted
Wolves boss Glenn
Hoddle believes the addition of two new players would help his squad, he has
started his Molineux career, with three draws and a defeat.
Hoddle believes his side doesn't need a major overhaul at this stage, with
Wolves 11 points adrift of the play-off places in the Championship table.
Hoddle told Sky Sports News:
"I must admit, when I came here, I maybe thought if it's going to be
four or five that I need to go back into the board to say 'We need four or
five players that can go straight into the team'. "That isn't the case.
"The way we've performed, I think if it's just one or two that puts us
up another level and strengthens the squad, then at the moment, I think that
would be sufficient.
"If the pennies have to be drawn into two people coming in, then so be
it."
Hoddle thinks Wolves' chances of
pushing into the play-off places hinge on the club performing consistently
well.
"We've got to really judge in another 10 games time whether we can
realistically - then with another 10 after that - if we can get there or
there about in our aims, which is trying to get into the play-off
spots," he added.
"It's an open race at the moment, but in this League, you've got put a
consistent run together and nobody seems to be able to do it.
"We've got to make it so that we get very close to doing it. If we can
do that, then who knows.
"But first and foremost, it is to get a win under our belt and then
them draws don't look so bad."

Match Reaction
Wolves manager Glenn Hoddle
voiced his frustration after a fourth successive 1-1 draw in the Coca-Cola
Championship.
The former England boss saw his team booed off the field at Molineux after
Scotland international Kenny Miller had cancelled out Gary Hart's
fourth-minute strike for Brighton.
Hoddle is still waiting for his first win as Wolves boss and was left to
bemoan a lack clinical finishing against the Seagulls.
He said: "The crowd were
frustrated and so was I. I haven't got a cat but, if I did, I would probably
kick it.
"We could easily have been sat here with 12 points out of 12.
"Instead, we have got four. We should have won that game with the
chances and pressure we had.
"No-one can say we are not playing well enough to win matches, but we
have got to be more clinical and have got to stop conceding silly goals. The
difference is miniscule."
But Hoddle was also angered by
the Brighton goal where Wolves defended sloppily against Richard Carpenter's
fourth-minute corner before Guy Butters' free header was touched in by Hart.
The Molineux boss added:
"It was such a soft goal, the sort you shouldn't see on the playground,
let alone here."
However, Hoddle did see a
convincing response for a while as Shaun Newton and Carl Cort brought the
first of three terrific saves from keeper Michel Kuipers.
But Miller, strode onto Keith Andrews' superb first-time pass to drive in a
33rd-minute equaliser - his tenth goal of the season and his fourth in four
games against Brighton.
Miller, Andrews and substitute Leon Clarke all went close to a second-half
winner.

Team News
Wolves: boss Glenn Hoddle
is sweating on the fitness of midfielder Shaun Newton.
The midfielder went into the 1-1 draw with Cardiff suffering from a sickness
bug, but was forced to withdraw during the half-time interval.
Midfielder Paul Ince could be recalled to the starting line-up after failing
to make it off the bench against the Bluebirds following his recovery from
surgery to remove an ingrowing toenail.
Hoddle remains short of numbers in the goalscoring department with Dean
Sturridge laid low by a hamstring injury and George Ndah still struggling
with chronic thigh and calf problems.
And fellow frontman Vio Ganea has also been ruled out of contention as he
continues his rehabilitation following cruciate knee ligament surgery.
Defender Rob Edwards is unlikely to be involved despite returning to
training following ankle ligament problems.
Brighton: Striker Leon
Knight could return to the Brighton team for the trip to Wolves.
The 22-year-old missed the 2-1 victory over Gillingham due to a one-match
ban, imposed following his fifth booking of the season in the 1-0 home
defeat by Stoke.
In Knight's absence, the front trio of Gary Hart, Adam Virgo and on-loan
Mark McCammon worked well against Gillingham.
But with three league games to play between December 28 and January 3,
McGhee could opt to bring in Knight in order to give Virgo or McCammon a
breather at Molineux.
Match Reaction
Glenn Hoddle admitted his first
win as Wolves manager was proving to be "elusive" after his side
were again forced to come from behind to draw 1-1 at Cardiff, the same
scoreline as in his first three matches in charge at Molineux.
Cameron Thorne had given Cardiff
a 17th-minute lead and the visitors had to wait until the 75th minute until
Kenny Miller scored an equaliser.
Wolves were indebted to goalkeeper Michael Oakes after his late save denied
a winning goal for Junichi Inamoto, on loan from West Brom.
Hoddle said "Those three
games have all been the same story - one down to a sloppy goal and then
having to work hard to level so we are still looking for that elusive win.
"I am not panicking but I would like to see how we would cope after
going a goal up.
"For an away side we had enough possession to win the game yet it was a
great save by our goalkeeper in the last minute.
"It was good to score from a set play as Kenny Miller had already
missed a couple of chances. Cardiff's front two were very hard working and
caused us a few problems but their goal was down to poor defending.
"We showed great spirit but still have to be more clinical in the last
third."

MERRY CHRISTMAS
Hope you all have a great
Christmas and I'll be back Boxing Day for the match updates.
Team News
Cardiff: are
likely to hand a debut to new signing Junichi Inamoto in the Boxing Day
Championship clash with Wolves at Ninian Park.
The Japanese international has signed on loan from West Brom and has
received clearance to go straight into the squad to face Glenn Hoddle's
side.
City boss Lennie Lawrence will be forced into at least two changes, as Neil
Harris cut short his loan spell to sign for Nottingham Forest and skipper
Graham Kavanagh is suspended following his red card against Sheffield
United.
Inamoto is set to deputise for Kavanagh, while Cameron Jerome should return
in place of Harris.
The Bluebirds also have Richard Langley available again after a lengthy
injury absence as they bid to move away from danger at the foot of the
table.
Wolves: go to South Wales
having failed to win in their last three games and with only one win to
their name in six outings as their prospects of gatecrashing the promotion
race continue to dwindle.
Hoddle is likely to keep faith with the players who salvaged a 1-1 draw
against Crewe at Molineux last weekend, with Dean Sturridge, Paul Ince, Rob
Edwards, Vio Ganea and George Ndah all still missing.
23rd December 2004
Jones Out On Loan
Wolves keeper Paul Jones is set
to join Watford on a one month loan today.
He joined Wolves last January and took over from Michael Oakes and kept his
place in goal for the remainder of the Premiership season.
The 37 year old was an ever-present for League fixtures this season until
the beginning of October. He fell from grace with the fans after a series of
poor results.
The Welsh international didn't play in Wolves Carling Cup ties at Rochdale
and Burnley so he is eligible to play in Watford's semi-final against
Liverpool.
His loan is due to end after the second-leg, at Vicarage Road, at the end of
next month. He will not, however, be available for the Hornets' FA Cup third
round tie with Fulham.

Trials and Ince Returns
Norway international
Alexander Aas was having a 10 day trial at Molineux trying to earn a
contract. The trial was arranged by Stuart Gray, when he was caretaker
manager prior to Hoddle's appointment.
Hoddle was happy to take a look at the 26-year-old, but for the second time
has decided not to keep him, the right back previously had a trial at
Southampton in January 2000 and was sent back to Scandinavia then by Hoddle.
Meanwhile Wolves
goalkeeper Carl Ikeme has gone on a trial to Sheffield Wednesday, with a
view to a loan spell at Hillsborough.
The 18-year-old, who signed a four-year contract at Molineux in September,
was due to play in a reserve match for The Owls on Monday.
Ikeme has yet to make a make his first team debut for Wolves and has already
spent time on loan at Conference club Accrington Stanley.
Ikeme will try and impress Wednesday boss Paul Sturrock, in the hope of
earning a chance of first team football with the League One side.
Club skipper Paul
Ince returned to action this morning when Wolves played Cheltenham Town in a
practice match at Compton.
The Guvnor who has been out of action since mid-October after having a
recurring in-growing toe nail removed, said on WOW:
"I'm feeling stiff and tired now and my toe's a bit sore, but although
it felt like minus 20 and was snowing, it was nice to get out an be
involved.
"As the game went on I wanted to play more but the gaffer pulled me off
after 65 minutes. There were a couple of times I went into a tackle and I
was a bit wary but it's on the mend.
"I didn't think it would take this long to get over the operation but
because they took the nail root out it shouldn't happen again.
"Today was a start getting back towards playing in the first
team."
The game was arranged mainly for new boss Glenn Hoddle to assess some of the
younger players in the squad, the match ended 2-2.

Match Report
by Tom Sperrink
Carl Cort's headed equaliser in
stoppage time today gave Wolves a deserved point at Molineux this afternoon
as they struggled to turn possession into goals. After Dean Ashton had
his deflected shot from a quick free kick turned in by Lescott midway
through the first half it looked as if Wolves would be unable to turn the
more fluent football into goals until the final minute. Second half
substitute Seol provided the cross to the back post in the 90th minute after
good work on the edge of the penalty box for Cort to arch his back to turn
in.
Wolves dominated the games from
the start and the changes to formation and style implemented by Glenn Hoddle
were evident. The inclusion of Lee Naylor and Shaun Newton as full backs
should have given Wolves greater force going forward however there failures
to adapt to their new positions was one of the problems facing the new
manager. Despite this Wolves started brightly passing the ball around
quickly and it seemed inevitable that Wolves would eventually make a break
through when cross from the right found Kenny Miller on two occasions. The
first was whipped over with pace however seemed to be just behind the scot
and he was unable to control the ball and get his shot away before being put
under too much pressure. His second chance came in the 36th minute from a
floated cross by Shaun Newton to which Miller rose unmarked and headed
powerfully against the inside of the far post and saw his shot rebound back
across the face of goal and cleared to safety. This seemed to raise the
spirits of the Molineux faithful who had been relatively quiet while still
deciding whether they approved of the new tactics brought in by Hoddle. Then
the cruel irony occurred, an all to common event for Wanderers fans, just as
spirits and the volume is raised inside the ground Crewe take a quick free
kick from inside the Wolves half which Dean Ashton fires goalwards and
Lescott can only assist on its inevitable path to the back of Micheal Oakes
net. The rest of the half was decidedly average with players and fans
stunned by a goal which had come completely against the run of play. Only a
long range free kick from Kieth Andrew came close to Clayton Ince's goal as
it drifted a few feet wide of the keeper's right hand upright in the latter
stages of the first half.
The second half started slowly
with Wolves once again having most of the ball yet unable to find that final
ball in the last third that would unlock a typically resolute Crewe defence.
It seemed that Dario Gradi still has that knack of bring his team here year
after year and taking point by keeping as many players behind the ball as
possible and sneaking a goal on the counter or from a set play. Hoddle
eventually decided that changes needed to be made although in his post match
press conference he said he was "happy with the performance" he
could see that if it wasn't the formation that was the problem it must have
been the personnel. The introduction of Colin Cameron was, surprizingly,
inspired; his fresh legs allowed him to run at a tired Crewe defence and
with Newton finally starting to push up the right hand flank, on the
overlap, Wolves started to cause the railway men more problems. Olofinyana
was looking dangerous in patches and broke the centre to good effect however
the ball would not drop kindly for the Nigerian and was unable to captialise,
his best chance coming when a goal mouth scramble fell to him however he
opted to lay the ball off to Miller who had moved and Crewe cleared their
lines once again. Crewe's prolific striker Dean Ashton was not done however
and managed to squirm away from Lescott, who had kept the Championship's
leading scorer very quiet all afternoon, and from the edge of the penalty
area hammered his shot of the underside of Micheal Oakes' crossbar. Had that
shot gone in it would have almost certainly have given Crewe the 3 points
however it wasn't to be as Wolves again piled on the pressure and after a
backheel by sub Clarke was unlucky not to creep in, it was Cort's headed
finish which salvaged a point for Wolves.
Match Reaction
Wolves boss Hoddle, who saw his
side pick up their second successive draw under his tenure thanks to a
last-minute goal by Carl Cort, was delighted with Wanderers' showing at
Molineux.
"I thought we should have
got the three points but I'm delighted to get a point out of it," he
said. "I really feel if we had got nothing it would have been an
injustice.
"I was very pleased with the performance. We are going to win more than
we lose if you play like that. We were very clever on the ball and if we had
taken our chances, we win the game."
Hoddle admitted that he would be
looking to add to his squad when the January transfer window opens in
January, but mainly through loan signings.
"We are certainly looking to use up some loans, that's for sure. But
who they are going to be and what part of the pitch they are going to play,
it's very early to make an assessment."

Team News
Wolves: Paul Ince is
again an injury doubt for new boss Glenn Hoddle ahead of the Molineux clash
with Crewe.
Ince is back in training after surgery on an in-growing toenail but is
highly unlikely to be fit enough to play any part in the game.
Defender Rob Edwards has also resumed training after treatment on a ligament
injury but is unlikely to be risked.
George Ndah remains a long-term absentee with thigh and calf problems but
Colin Cameron should be back to bolster Hoddle's midfield after shaking off
a virus.
Crewe: manager Dario
Gradi has a major doubt over midfielder Justin Cochrane.
The former QPR man has shingles, and either Lee Bell or Ben Rix could step
in if he is unavailable.
Left-back Anthony Tonkin, who has missed the last three matches with a foot
problem, is also a doubt but centre-half Chris McCready (hamstring) is back
in contention and could come in for Billy Jones.
Meanwhile, striker Michael Higdon remains sidelined with a back injury as
Gradi's men look to extend their fine recent run of four wins in five
matches.
16th December 2004
Mulligan's Loan Extended
Rushden &
Diamonds have extended the loan of Wolves striker Gary Mulligan for a third
month.
The 19-year-old will remain with the League Two club until January 12th,
when he will have completed a three-month loan spell with The Diamonds.
The Nene Park side must then decide, at that stage, whether to keep the
teenage hit-man for the rest of the season.
Rushden boss Ernie Tippett was
pleased to keep the young forward for the upcoming holiday period.
"There was a lot of phone calls between the two clubs yesterday, and
[Wolves boss] Glenn Hoddle agreed to it late in the evening yesterday
[Tuesday]," Tippett told the club's official website.
"We are very pleased that Gary will be with us until January and we
thought that he had done enough to warrant another month."

Youth Team Cup Win
Wolves youth team are through to
the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup after beating Reading 1-0 at Molineux.
Mark Davies was in top form in
the heart of the midfield and after he had shot a yard wide after a run
through the middle of the Reading defence, he conjured up the 76th minute
breakthrough with a superb through pass to Chris Cornes who finished
clinically with a low shot into the bottom corner.
Wolves academy side will now
play Barnsley in the fourth round at Molineux.
Wolves: Hennessey,

Friendly Arranged For Hoddle
Wolves played Shrewsbury this
afternoon in a behind closed doors friendly game at Compton to give new
manager Glenn Hoddle the chance to assess some of the players that did not
figure in either the Millwall or Watford matches.
Rob Edwards returned to action
for the match, which featured a combination of young and senior pros. These
included Paul Jones, Joachim Bjorklund, and Shaun Newton.
Kenny Miller and Seol, who have made only brief substitute appearances under
the new manager also featured.
Wolves lost 1-0 after an early goal by Shrewsbury's John Grant.
Glenn Hoddle said on WOW:
"It was a useful exercise. I needed to look at the players I haven't
yet seen in action yet and it's best to assess them in an 11 versus 11 game.
"These type of matches are invaluable and we will probably arrange
another one over the Christmas period when there are no reserve fixtures.
"I need to assess all the players as quickly as possible and this is a
good way to do it as the pitches at Compton are excellent."
13th December 2004
Consortium Link Rubbished
Wolves new manager Glenn Hoddle
was shocked at claims in a Sunday newspaper that he is in talks with a
consortium looking to buy out his former club, Tottenham Hotspur.
Hoddle is quoted in one newspaper as saying that the group has already had
two bids for the London club turned down. It is also reportted that Hoddle
would return as manager to the club.
Chief executive Jez Moxey said
on WOW: "I have
spoken to Glenn this morning and he strenuously denies these claims.
"He has not spoken to this reporter and does not know where it has all
come from.
"Glenn has confirmed to me that he does not know anything about any
consortium and is shocked that such a suggestion has been made.
"This club and Glenn are committed to one another and are annoyed that
such claims have surfaced."
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy made
it clear there is no truth in recent speculation suggesting the club is for
sale.
Levy said: "Let's be
absolutely clear about this. ENIC owns 51% of Tottenham Hotspur. It's
commitment is evidenced by the fact that during the summer ENIC was wholly
prepared to underwrite the full fundraising requirement.
"We have never put up a 'For Sale' sign at this club and we are not
about to do so. I, personally, have invested time, energy and money in
getting this club in the shape it is now financially, both as a 'player' in
the transfer window and as a club with a future.
"We are a plc - as such we have a duty to our shareholders to consider
seriously any approaches for the club from bona fide buyers, but we have not
had any such negotiations or discussions and we have no intention of
selling.
"And for the hundredth time I want to reiterate that we never received
any proposal, let alone offer, from Roman Abramovich."
12th December 2004
Match Reaction
Glenn Hoddle celebrated his
first game in charge of Wolves with a point in the 1-1 draw at Watford.
Wanderers started badly and fell behind after just four minutes to Heidar
Helguson's neat finish.
That forced Hoddle to give up his seat in the stands and move into the
dug-out, with Seyi George Olofinjana hitting with equaliser moments later
for the Nigerian's third goal in four games.
Wolves improved thereafter but neither side could force a winner.
"It's great to be back and
prepare a team for a match and come out and have some banter and get some
stick from the fans," said Hoddle, who this week signed a six-month
contract to succeed Dave Jones at Molineux.
"We were slow coming out of the blocks, but I think had I changed the
shape of the team and they possibly had this in mind early on, and we found
ourselves a goal down.
"But I thought we played extremely well up until half-time,
particularly after we equalised, and really, if we'd got our noses in front
then, we might have gone on to win the game."

to Stoke City.

Dominic Blizzard will play in midfielder if Brynjar Gunnarsson is not fit.
Wolves: new manager Glenn
Hoddle picks his first team after assistant Stuart Gray was in charge for
the midweek defeat to Millwall.
Hoddle is without skipper Paul Ince, who has had surgery on a toe.
Midfielder Colin Cameron is a doubt with a virus.
Dean Richards Linked
New Wolves manager Glenn Hoddle
has ruled out an immediate move for ex-Wolves defender Dean Richards.
Hoddle had nurtured Richards' talent at Southampton and then Spurs where the
30-year-old is currently out-of-favour.
Hoddle said: "Deano's out of the team at Tottenham at the moment so I
suppose people will put two and two together.
"But it's not something I've been thinking about at this moment in time
because I'm still in the process of assessing the squad.
"I have to be fair to the players who are already here and who are
entitled to a decent crack of the whip.
"I've told the players they can all draw a line under the past and
start with a clean slate under a new manager."

opponents and possibly coaching."

Match Reaction
Stuart Gray said after his last
match in full control: "Glenn has introduced himself to the players but
that's all.
"He let me get on with preparing for the game.
"We started out very flat and ended up playing the game Millwall wanted
to play.
"But after we scored the penalty, I honestly thought we'd go on to win
but we were too direct.
"I'm not a psychologist but I think there were one or two players out
there trying too hard to impress instead of being in a more relaxed mode and
playing their natural game.
"The most disappointing thing is I've been telling Glenn how well we've
been playing lately and then he sees a performance like that."

Hoddle Announced As New Boss
Glenn Hoddle has
been appointed as the new manager of Wolves. The former England manager
takes over at Molineux after being without a job in football since leaving
Tottenham in 2003.
He has been given a six-month contract and Stuart Gray will remain at
Molineux as Hoddle's assistant. The pair worked together at Southampton for
15 months before Hoddle left for Spurs.
Stuart Gray will remain in charge for this evening's match with Millwall, so
Hoddle's first game as manager will be at Watford on Saturday.
Chairman Rick
Hayward said on WOW:
"The club is delighted to appoint a manager of the calibre of Glenn
Hoddle.
"He has managed at the highest level with England and, most importantly
to us, he has experience of taking a club into the Premiership. He achieved
that success with Swindon Town and our own hopes for this season remain very
much alive.
"Although it has been a relatively long search, we believe Glenn fits
our criteria better than anyone and is the best man for the job.
"His CV reads like a list of the Premiership who's who, with Glenn
having managed the likes of Chelsea, who he took to an FA Cup final,
Southampton who, with Stuart's help, he led to eighth in the League and then
most recently, Tottenham Hotspur.
"He believes in playing football in a style that fits our reputation,
he is of the right age and having taken a year out Glenn is hungry to get
back into football. He has spoken to two Premiership clubs of late and so
for us to get him, we believe, is a real coup.
"We are particularly happy that Stuart will remain at Molineux, having
worked with Glenn previously. We hope to see them recreate a similar winning
formula to that which they enjoyed with the Saints."
Hoddle said: "I'm delighted
to be here.
"I saw the massive potential that Wolves have got and their desire and
ambition to get back into the Premiership parallels my ambitions.
"Stuart has done a fantastic job as caretaker manager. We've worked
together at Southampton and I'm delighted to be back with him."
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey
defended the decision to give Hoddle a short-term contract.
"We hope it will work out for both parties and we extend it for the
long term," he said.
"Most managers want a four-year contract and then expect it to be paid
off if it doesn't work out.
"For somebody of Glenn's calibre to come in on a short-term contract
and put his reputation on the line, it demonstrates his commitment and
self-belief and the potential he thinks is here."
Hoddle's Managerial Diary:
1991: Appointed as Swindon
player-manager in April.
1993: Scored first goal in 4-3
play-off final win against Leicester which took Swindon into the
Premiership. One month later quit Swindon to take over as Chelsea manager.
1994: Took Chelsea to FA Cup
final but they lost 4-0 to Man Utd.
1995: Made final appearance in
2-1 home win over Arsenal. Signed Ruud Gullit from Sampdoria.
1996: Led Chelsea to FA Cup
semi-finals in which they lost 2-1 to Man Utd.
Appointed England manager after
Terry Venables stepped down following Euro 96.
1997: Steered England to victory
in Tournoi de France with victories over Italy and France. England top their
group and qualify for World Cup finals in France after 0-0 draw in final
match in Rome.
1998: May - Leaves Paul
Gascoigne out of the World Cup squad.
June - England go out of France 98 in the second round, losing to Argentina
on penalties. Hoddle is insistent that with a little luck England could have
won the tournament.
August - Hoddle's World Cup
diary causes a storm. Various revelations, including Gascoigne's reaction to
learning he would miss the World Cup and his blast for Chris Sutton after he
refused to play for England B, are criticised by leading figures in the
game.
September - The FA's
international committee give Hoddle their backing over his book.
October - Storm erupts about
alleged row between Alan Shearer and Hoddle after 3-0 win in Luxembourg.
1999: Hoddle criticised after
comments about disabled people and is eventually sacked.
2000: Takes over from Dave Jones
as Southampton manager.
2001: March 27 - After seven
straight clean sheets and five straight wins move Southampton up to eighth
in the Premiership, Hoddle holds talks with Tottenham - who are seeking a
manager following the departure of George Graham.
2001: March 28 - Quits as
Southampton manager.
March 30 - Hoddle appointed as
new Tottenham boss, signing a five-year contract. His reign at Spurs begins
with defeat by Arsenal in the FA Cup-semi final and he then sees the Gunners
sign star centre-half Sol Campbell.
2002: After bringing Teddy
Sheringham back to Spurs and signing Chelsea's Gus Poyet and Dean Richards
from Southampton, Hoddle's side push for a European place and reach the
Worthington Cup final.
February - Spurs beaten 2-1 by
Blackburn in final. The team's league campaign also peters out.
August - Named manager of month
as, after signing Jamie Redknapp from Liverpool, Spurs go through month
unbeaten.
2003: Spurs lack consistency to
push for a top-six place and finish 10th after reported player bust-ups with
Sheringham and Steffen Freund.
September 20 - James Beattie,
days after criticising Hoddle's man-management style during his time as
Southampton boss, scores twice as Saints win 3-1 at White Hart Lane. Defeat
leaves Spurs with just four points from six games, their worst start to a
Premiership season.
September 21 - Sacked by Spurs.
September 24 - Fires a parting
shot at Spurs and director of football David Pleat. Says Pleat should be
given the manager's job full-time because he would be
"obstructive" to anyone appointed his successor.
2004: February 10 - Hoddle
linked with a return to Southampton as replacement manager for Gordon
Strachan, who is due to step down at the end of the season. Saints chairman
Rupert Lowe denies a decision has already been made but admits Hoddle is in
the running.
March 3 - Withdraws bid to
become new Southampton manager.
July - Interviewed for France
manager's job without success.
December 7 - Having been linked
with a return to Southampton, Wolves announce he will succeed Dave Jones at
Molineux.

Team News
Wolves: Striker Dean Sturridge
faces a late fitness test ahead of tomorrow's clash with Millwall.
Sturridge is rated touch-and-go after sustaining a hamstring problem, but
caretaker manager Stuart Gray is confident fellow forward Carl Cort will
bounce back from a knee injury to play a part.
Midfielder Paul Ince continues to suffer discomfort following surgery to
remove an ingrowing toenail, and Rob Edwards is certain to miss out as he
continues his rehabilitation following ankle ligament surgery.
George Ndah, who has been troubled by chronic thigh and calf problems this
season, is expected to return to light training this week, while Vio Ganea (cruciate
knee ligaments) has begun light jogging.
Millwall: skipper Kevin
Muscat will be forced to miss the clash with his former club through
suspension.
The Australian defender was involved in an ugly incident in the tunnel at
half-time against Sheffield United which allegedly ended in Blades keeper
Paddy Kenny being head-butted.
Both players were sent off for violent conduct and Muscat will now miss
three matches, as well as being fined a week's wages.
Player-manager Dennis Wise is hopeful of recovering from a troublesome calf
injury in time.
Jody Morris played the full 90 minutes against the Blades after recovering
from a hamstring injury and the former Chelsea player is expected to start
against Wolves.

FA Cup Draw
Wolves have been drawn against
Millwall in the third round of the FA Cup.
It is scheduled to be played at Molineux on Saturday 8th January, just 32
days after Tuesday's League match between the two sides.
Match Reaction
Caretaker manager Stuart Gray
believes the 4-1 win over Reading will buy Wolves' board more time before
they appoint a replacement for Dave Jones.
The Coca-Cola Championship club are still no nearer a managerial appointment
since sacking Jones on November 1.
Gray enhanced his own chances of securing the post with his third win in six
games since taking temporary charge.
And this comprehensive victory could leave the Wolves supporters, who
chanted after the match for Harry Redknapp, facing an even longer wait
before the next manager is found.
He said: "I've been in the
game long enough to know these things take time.
"This is a big football club and there will be a lot of top names that
want this job. I've probably given them a bit more time with the results
regarding them having to make a decision.
"If they want to go into a second round of interviews that's entirely
up to them. All I'm concentrating my efforts on is winning games of
football.
"If the new man wants to bring in his own staff it might mean goodbye
to me.
"I've got 18 months left on my contract and I'm sure I'll be seeing
that contract out."
A victory for Gray looked
doubtful early on after a bright start from the visitors until Seyi George
Olofinjana created the opener for Colin Cameron.
Olofinjana then struck in first-half injury-time before Dean Morgan pulled a
goal back for Reading after the break.
But Wolves moved away from relegation trouble thanks to two late goals from
substitute Leon Clarke.
Gray was forced to endure chants for the appointment of Redknapp as well as
a stream of vitriol after he replaced new hero Olofinjana with 20 minutes to
go.
And he admitted: "The crowd
pay their money but it is my head on the block and I make the decisions.
"They are entitled to their say but fortunately my players managed to
block it all out. I was disappointed with the crowd." from

Team News
Wolves: captain Paul Ince
is still recovering from an operation to remove an in-growing toenail and is
expected to be absent against the Royals.
Defender Rob Edwards is still missing after ankle surgery while strike duo
George Ndah and Vio Ganea are still some way from a return.
Ndah has been having treatment on a persistent thigh problem while Romania
international Ganea has yet to figure season with a cruciate knee ligament
injury.
Carl Cort and Dean Sturridge are expected to start in attack but Kenny
Miller and Seol Ki-Hyeon are pushing hard for places.
Reading: manager Steve
Coppell is keeping his fingers crossed Dave Kitson will be fit to face
Wolves.
Leading scorer Kitson missed his first Championship game of the season last
week as the Royals drew with Wigan after failing to shake off foot, calf and
hamstring problems.
The 24-year-old has returned to full training and if there is no reaction to
the problems he will travel to Molineux.
Nicky Forster is still ruled out with a groin injury but fellow striker
Shaun Goater, an unused substitute last week, is likely to be involved at
some stage after playing for the reserves following his recovery from a calf
injury.

Reserves Match Call Off
The reserve match between Man
Utd and Wolves at Moss Lane, Altringham was called off after just seven
minutes because of thick fog this evening.
The referee, Mr Shoebridge, took the teams off and said he would wait for 15
minutes to see if conditions improved.
Unfortunately they didn't and he had no choice but to bring about an early
end to the proceedings.
No date has yet been set for the restaging of the fixture.

Jones & Camara Update
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey
has this morning moved to counter reports that pay-off negotiations with
Dave Jones are set to be protracted.
He told WOW: "We
have agreed a settlement with Dave Jones.
"The talks have been amicable and we expect him to sign a final legal
agreement in the next few days.
"Reports that both parties are set for a 'long battle' are simply
inaccurate."
He is also planning a visit to
Celtic to discuss the future of Henri Camara, who is on a season-long loan
after his well publicised refusal to play for Wolves following the club's
relegation. Celtic have an option to buy the 27-year-old.
"I'm planning to go to Celtic soon to have a chat to them about their
intentions," says Jez.
"They have until the end of the season to make a decision as to whether
they want to make the deal permanent. If they don't want to take up that
option then Camara will remain our player and we will make a decision about
his future that is in the best interests of Wolves."
Camara has suggested, in an
interview with the African press, that he might not necessarily want to
remain at Celtic beyond the summer. He also made clear his feelings towards
a possible return to Molineux. He is reported to have said: "If I can
find a club better than Celtic, then we will see. But going back to Wolves
is simply not a question for me. Don't even speak to me about them. I am not
going to bury myself in the English Second Division."
Jez adds: "I think the tone and content of these comments are
disrespectful and do nothing to enhance Camara's professional
reputation."
