who's on trial at Molineux has revealed his desire to play in England after
his first match for Wolves in a pre-season friendly against Shrewsbury.
The 22-year-old scored the opening goal in the 2-0 win at Gay Meadow in the
7th minute.
He said: "I'm desperate to play in England. There's no money in the
French Second Division."
"I've only been at Wolves two days but I really like the feel of the
club.''
Stan Deal
Collapsed
Wolves
chief executive Jez Moxey has announced that Stan Collymore won't be joining
Wolves even though personal terms had been agreed between Collymore and
Wolves. Moxey said "Real Oviedo wanted a large fee for us to take Stan
even on a loan basis, something which we were not prepared to do.
"They are sueing the player for breach of contract and they believe
they have a strong case.
"The situation is nothing to do with Wolves and we don't want to get
mixed up in the situation so our interest has to cease. The problems lie
between Stan and Real Oviedo."

More Players Linked
Wolves are being linked with
Hearts' Scottish international midfielder Colin Cameron.
Cameron has been linked with Bradford and Nottingham Forest in recent months
but it now appears Dave Jones is lining up a bid in the region of £2million
for the 28-year-old.
Wolves are also rumored to have agreed a fee for an unnamed striker and hope
to tie up the deal over the weekend, with another player to sign soon after.
Chief executive Jez Moxey said: "I'm confident something will happen
this week. We're near to agreement with both players.''
French Trialist
French striker David Suarez is
on trial at Molineux, the 22-year-old striker has been on the books of
Second Division Cannes for the last two seasons.
Last season he appeared in all but three
of his club’s League and Cup games and scored 13 goals in what was a
season of struggle for the French side.
Wolves manager Dave Jones said on the official Wolves website: "We will
be taking a look at David over the next few days and we are hoping that he
can play in our friendly at Shrewsbury on Saturday.
"David came to us on the high recommendation of his representative
Michel Benguigui who I know well. He has looked good in training but until I
can see him playing in a game it’s hard make a decision."

chairman Sir Jack Hayward, will be erected at Waterloo Road corner of the
stand already named after him.
Sculptor James Butler, who also produced
the Billy Wright statue, hopes it will be finished by March or April next
year.

Fourth Bid Refused
Preston
have rejected Wolves fourth bid for Striker Jon Macken, the £4 million bid
would have broken the Molineux transfer fee paid for a player, currently
standing at £3.5 million to Bristol City for Ade Akinbiyi in September
1999, which set a new record for the Nationwide Divisions.
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said on the Wolves Official Website:
"We remain interested in signing Jonathan Macken although Preston
refuse to move their position. They want an enormous fee for him – one
that is millions of pounds higher than our current offer. It is out of our
reach and one which in reality I find quite ridiculous.
"It means that although we haven’t entirely given up hope of signing
Jonathan, we’re turning our attention to other forwards and we have agreed
a fee with another club for a striker. The issue that we are facing with
this deal is that although the club has agreed to sell him, they do not want
to let him go until they’ve found a replacement.
"Obviously there is only a certain amount of time available to us and
we have one or two other options open, with regards to strikers, should the
need arise. If we do have to sign someone else before the club has found a
replacement, then that deal will fall through."
Fourth Macken Bid
Wolves are reported to have made
a fourth bid for Preston's Jon Macken of over £4million and Preston could
be lining up Wolves other target Shaun Goater as a possible replacement.
Preston sent a scout to Halifax on Saturday to check the form and fitness of
Goater but Wolves may still try to sign Goater if their latest bid for
Macken proves unsuccessful. Goater's future at Manchester City may depend on
whether Paulo Wanchope remains at Maine Road.

Oviedo Won't Release Stan
Spanish club Real Oviedo have
told Wolves that they will not be releasing Stan Collymore on-loan.
The 30-year-old had agreed terms with Wolves if Oviedo agreed to the deal,
but Oviedo insisted that Wolves would have to pay a fee for the striker who
they are looking to sue for breach of contract.
An Oviedo spokesman said, “Wolves are interested in the player, and
Collymore has spoken to them. But we are still awaiting the response to our
offer to sell we made last week.”

Squad Arrives Home
The Wolves squad have arrived
back in Wolverhampton after there nine day tour of Portugal, hopefully now
boss Dave Jones can get on with getting the players that Wolves fans were
promised at the end of last season.
The first team's next match is on Saturday afternoon when they take on
Shrewsbury at The Gay Meadow, kick off 3.00pm.
The following week they travel to Belgium where they will face Royal Antwerp
before the only home friendly of the season on the 3rd August,
against Liverpool.
Stan Agrees Terms
Stan Collymore is poised for a
comeback from retirement less than four months after quitting the game, the
only thing stopping his transfer to Molineux on a lucrative three-year
contract is Oviedo's reluctance to release his registration. The
Spanish club are reputedly looking for £350,000 to free him up even though
he came to them on a free transfer.
Wolves are unlikely to acceed to their demands, and until a compromise can
be reached, Stan's self-imposed exile will continue for a while longer.
Collymore still has a house in Cannock, less than 20 miles from
Wolverhampton, and is very close to family and friends in the area.
Froggatt Retires
Former Wolves midfielder Steve
Froggatt has been forced to retire from the game aged only 28 due to a
serious ankle injury.
He signed for Wolves for £1million from Aston Villa and spent four years at
Molineux then moved to Coventry. which has plagued him for nearly two years.
Froggatt picked up the injury while playing for Coventry against Sunderland
18 months ago and hasn't been able to recover from the problem, he has now
realised he will never play football again.

Aerts Refused Test
Goalkeeper Maikel Aerts £700,000
transfer to Wolves from Den Bosch collapsed at the last minute because the
player refused to take a drug test.
Aerts had tested positive for cocaine in 1997, and Wolves insisted on the
drugs test after learning this and when the player refused, the deal was
cancelled.
His club Den Bosch are said to be furious with the 25-year-old, and have now
asked for an arbitration court at the Dutch FA to immediately dissolve his
contract with them, which is due to run until the summer of 2004.
21st July 2001
Two Targets
Wolves boss Dave Jones has
revealed that Wolves have agreed transfer fees for two players. Now the club
will go into talks with the players themselves next week after the team has
returned to England from Portugal.
Jones said. "We're close to doing one or two things. We have agreed
deals with the two clubs, but need to speak to both players in the second
half of next week.
"I've spoken to one of them so far - but only for initial talks."

Stowell to sign for City
Mike Stowell is set to sign for
Second Division Bristol City after a medical over the weekend. The
36-year-old has agreed a two-year contract and will sign early next week.
Second Division Blackpool were favourites to land him when he was released
by Dave Jones in May but Danny Wilson's men have beaten them to his
signature despite a late approach from Wolves' Midlands rivals Walsall.
Ince Rumours Denied
Wolves
chief executive Jez Moxey has denied rumours that Wolves have made a £2m bid for Middlesbrough's Paul
Ince.
Jez shook his head and said: "There's
nothing in it."

Leiria 2-0 Wolves
Wolves
have lost their second match of the Portugal Tour, Leira took the lead in 65th
minute with a disputed penalty after Mark Clyde was judged to have brought
down Macial in the box. Leira scored their second in the 77th minute.

substitute Carl Robinson in the second half following a competitive
encounter!

Merson Bid Refused
Aston
Villa have rejected an approach for Paul Merson from Wolves, Chief Executive
Jez Mozey asked about the midfielders availability but he was swiftly told
he was not for sale. Wolves were told Merson is part of John Gregory's plans
for the future and he had just been made club captain so their bid was
refused.
Ndah's Tour Over
Wolves striker George Ndah has
had to leave Wolves pre-season tour because of injury for the second
successive season.
Last summer on the Irish tour it was a niggling knee condition this time a
persistent minor groin strain has prevented the striker from training since
the squad arrived in Portugal on Friday.
As the disappointed Ndah prepared to return to Molineux, boss Dave Jones
said: "George is stiff and sore. We were hoping that he’d shake it
off but he’s still struggling.
"It’s pointless him staying out here when he can be treated back at
Wolverhampton so he’s going back and we’re flying Colin Larkin out as a
replacement."
17th July 2001
Another Macken Bid Rejected
Wolves have had their third bid
believed to be of £4m for Preston striker Jon Macken turned down flat.
It is believed Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey made the offer of £3.5million
up front and a further £500,000 based on appearances, but the offer was
once again turned down flat with both chairman Bryan Gray and manager David
Moyes insisting the highly-rated star was not for sale.
Stan Signing Hits Problems
Stan Collymore and Wolves were
having constructive talks about him coming out of retirement and re-joining
Wolves, but the move has hit problems with Spanish club Real Oviedo,
threatening to sue the striker for breach of contract as his deal with the
Spaniards is understood to have contained a buy-out clause for any club
interested in taking the player on board.
The La Liga outfit still hold Collymore's registration and are suing him for
up to £1m, based on their transfer valuation of the player and money they
believe they have lost after he walked out on them last season without
warning after playing just 88 minutes of football for them, and announcing
his retirement from the game.
A spokesman for the Oviedo said, "The
player left Oviedo without informing the club of his intentions.
"The club tried to get in touch with Stan Collymore but we were
unsuccessful. The day after Ian Monk issued a statement that Stan Collymore
was going to retire and that is how we found out.
"It was decided by the lawyers to sue Collymore for £7million for
damages done to the club and for breaking his contract, even though he
hadn't gone to another club."
The case is not expected to be heard in the Spanish judicial courts for at
least another year.

Espinho 2-2

Wolves have drawn the first game
of their Portuguese tour with goals from Cedric Roussel and Carl Robinson.
Espinho were 2 goals up before Roussel pulled one back early in the second
half. Carl Robinson then chipped the Espinho keeper.
The friendly clash was halted seven minutes before full-time as the match
referee was fearful both sets of players were getting a little too physical.

New Captain
Dave Jones has stripped
Kevin Muscat of the club captaincy with Paul Butler favorite to get the job
of leading Wolves next season.
Muscat took over the captaincy last season when Keith Cutle left, but a
series of poor displays have prompted Jones to make the change.
Butler will lead the Wolves team for their three-match tour of Portugal and
if Jones likes what he sees, then the defender looks set to retain the
captaincy next season, although Ludovic Pollet and Tony Dinning are also
reported to be in the frame.

Wolves in Talks with Collymore
Wolves are in talks with controversial
striker Stan Collymore. Collymore quit football after playing for Leicester,
Bradford and one month at Real Oviedo all during last season.
Spanish side Real Oviedo still hold his registration so Wolves must reach an
agreement with them before finalising a permanent contract with Collymore.

not sufficient to continue running the network" said John Weir
Publishing Director. He also added "This is a problem that faces every
sports related website currently, and the problems of Sportal, 365,
Soccernet, Rivals etc are all well documented."
I will now be removing all the banners from the top of the pages and apologise
for any problems during this process. If any company would like to sponsor a

Transfer On Off
The on off transfer of Dutch
goalkeeper Maikel Aerts could be off again, reports last weekend said he had
completed his move to Molineux with boss Dave Jones speaking openly on
Monday of his delight at having Aerts on board and in training. The keeper
has also been added to the player profiles on the new official website,
which boasts "All the news from Molineux - accurate and up-to-date -
will appear here", but there is nothing about the transfer on
there. Wolves are still working to see if anything can be sorted out with
the transfer but have said it's unlikely.

Ketsbaia Deal Hits Problem
Dundee's
bid to sign Temuri Ketsbaia is close to collapsing, Wolves wanted around
£400,000 for him but Dundee wanted to do a player exchange as they haven't
got the funds for the transfer.
Jex Mozey said "We have discussed a small transfer fee but they have
said they do not think they can pay any money"
Another Keeper Signs
Wolves have signed 20 year old
West Ham goalkeeper Stephen Bywater on a three month loan deal.
Two Wins for Wolves
Wolves have beaten non-league
Telford 4-0 and League of Wales team Oswestry 3-0. New signing Mark Kennedy scored the opening
goal against Telford in the 21st minute from a 25 yard strike.
George Ndah scored the second with a close range header five minutes later

side that beat Oswestry Town 3-0. Darren Bazeley opened the scoring when he
drilled the ball home from just inside the box, he was playing for the first
time since he tore a cartilage in the game at Sheffield Wednesday last
Christmas. Ten minutes after the restart Joleon Lescott skilfully beat his
man on the right before crossing to Tony Dinning who headed the ball across
goal for Tudor to nod home. Owestry's Steve Eccleston turned a Tudor cross
past his own keeper to make it three in the 65th minute.
Team: Solly, Coleman,
Naylor (McQuade 63), Dinning (Dickson 74), Pollet (Gilmore 83), Lescott,

arrive for his work permit, which is expected within the next few days.

will be working closely with new goalkeeping coach Bobby Mimms and number
one Michael Oakes during pre-season training.
Emblen Completes Transfer
Neil Emblen has completed his
transfer to Norwich for £500,000, despite recent fears that the move would
have to be cancelled because Norwich were struggling to agree personal terms
with the utility player, but these differences were put aside earlier this
week.
Emblen travelled to Fakenham with the rest of his new team mates for a
pre-season friendly tonight (Wednesday), but is not expected to make his
debut.

Sinton Contract Update
Andy Sinton is close to signing
a new 1 year deal at Molineux, Dave Jones offered the experienced winger a
new 12-month deal and is confident he will sign.
Sinton has reported back for pre-season training with the Wolves squad but
he has yet to tell the manager what he intends to do in the coming year.
The ex-England winger's first-team place has been put under threat by the
signing of Mark Kennedy from Manchester City, but Boss Jones feels Sinton
can still be a valuable member of his squad and his knowledge of the game
can be a big help to his younger players.

Lee Applies to
Magpies
Colin Lee is set to return to
management following his departure from Wolves, and has applied for the
vacant assistant manager's position at Newcastle United.
After he was dismissed by the board at Molineux, Lee joined Torquay at the
end of last season, and subsequently helped the Gulls in their quest for
third division survival. However he
recently turned down the opportunity to remain in charge at Plainmoor, and
has now set his sights a little higher.
Aside from expressing his desire to take over at St James Park from Mick
Wadsworth who joined Southampton last week, Lee has also been linked with
the post of first-team coach at Aston Villa following Steve Harrison's move
to Middlesbrough.
Premature Report
The report
that Maikel Aerts had signed for Wolves seems to have been premature, Wolves
haven't yet finalised the £700,000 deal for Dutch goalkeeper Maikel Aerts,
but it's expected to be tied up in the next 48 hours. My apologies!
7th July 2001
Goalkeeper Signs
Wolves have signed goalkeeper
Mikael Aerts for around £1,600,000 from FC Den Bosch on a four-year deal.
Aerts travelled with his manager John Linse to Molineux last Thursday for
talks and was very impressed with Wolves. Den Bosch technical director
Arnold Scholten has worked for seven weeks to find a way to avoid the
transfer going ahead but they were forced to sell as they need the transfer
fee to strengthen their squad now they have returned to the Dutch Eredivisie.
6th July 2001
Emblen Deal Off
Neil Emblen's £500,000 transfer
to Norwich has collapsed after he failed to agree personal terms with them.
Norwich manager Nigel Worthington agreed the fee with Wolves boss Dave Jones
last weekend and believed he would be able to persuade the 30-year-old to
move to East Anglia, but the two parties were too far apart in salary
discussions and Worthington insists the deal is now dead.
Tour News
Wolves captain Kevin Muscat has
pulled out of Wolves pre-season trip to Portugal because of a groin injury.
The Australian international picked up the injury before the start of
pre-season training and could be sidelined for around three weeks which
might see him out of the first game of the season. Sean Connelly will be the
most likely to fill Muscat's place.
Ludovic Pollet will be joining
Wolves tour to Portugal after recovering his lost passport.
Pollet reported the document and other valuable papers stolen when his
wife's car was taken from outside their new home in a South Staffordshire
village.
But the vehicle was spotted abandoned in Bilston and the player has now been
reunited with his passport.

Ludo's Appeal (from
www.wolves.co.uk)
Ludo Pollet is appealing for the
public's help in tracing his stolen car.
The silver Renault Clio Sport was taken from outside his south Staffordshire
house at 6.30 yesterday evening.
The theft has an added complication as Ludo's passport was inside the
vehicle. With the team due to fly off to Portugal a week tomorrow, the
French defender may be forced to stay at home.
"I would be very grateful if anyone can help trace my car," says
Ludo.
"I need to get my passport back so I can go one the tour of Portugal. I
am trying to get a replacement but I might not be able to get one in
time."
The registration of the car - a French model - is 544AAL83. If anyone has
any information that could be of help to the police, please call them on

Goalkeeping Coach Joins
Goalkeeper Bobby Mimms has
joined the Molineux backroom team as Wolves goalkeeping coach. The position
was previously a part-time post held by Peter Bonetti, but will now be
full-time. Wolves boss Dave Jones says it
was important to elevate the role to a full-time position.
Bobby joins Wolves having been player/goalkeeping coach at Mansfield Town.
The former Irish under 21 player has enjoyed a long and varied career, with
Everton, Sunderland, Blackburn, Manchester City, Tottenham and Preston
numbering amongst the clubs he has served.
Transfers Update
Wolves are thought to be
targeting Man City's Shaun Goater after twice being unsuccessful in trying
to sign Preston's Jon Macken, with Blackburn's Nathan Blake also
emerging as a target.
Manchester City have confirmed they have received no official approach as
yet.
Blake is available for around £1.5million after falling out of favour at
Ewood Park, with Derby and Crystal Palace already confirming their interest
in the Welsh international.
Defender Sean Connelly has
signed a two-year contract at Wolves after being assured by Dave Jones that
he has a part to play in his future plans.
*Update*
Shaun Goater has said he intends to see out the remaining three years of his
contract at Maine Road. In response to a reported £3million bid from Wolves.

Kennedy Deal Finalized
Mark Kennedy was at Molineux early this morning to sign a five-year
contract after Wolves agreed to pay £2million for his services.
The Republic of Ireland winger says he is looking forward to a successful
promotion campaign after completing his move to Wolves from Manchester City.
He gained promotion to the Premiership with City just over a year ago, and revealed he is eager to experience a quick return to the top flight.
"The season City went up was fantastic for the players and the
fans," Kennedy said. "Wolves is a magnificent club and I'd love to
be able to do all that again here.
"I'm really glad to be signing for Wolves. When I met the manager he
said how much he wanted me to come here. I'm looking forward to getting
started.
"I've played at Molineux before with City and Millwall, and I've
always been impressed by the place.
"I just hope we can get a good start, show the fans what we can do
and get everybody behind us."

from his summer holiday last weekend for him to have a medical and then

surgeon, but the operation is believed to have been straight forward.
Squad Back
The squad reported back after
their summer break for training yesterday at a new venue, RAF Cosford. Boss
Dave Jones was keen to use the facilities at Cosford, whilst the pitches at
Compton are undergoing their final pre-season preparations.
The players were put through their paces at the military base, where they
will train until they leave for the Portugal tour. Some where given extra
time off, players that have had a busy summer of international matches and
new signing Mark Kennedy who had part of his medical yesterday and will
undergo further tests today.
Jones said: "The facilities here - the surfaces and the gym - are first
class and the RAF have really made us welcome. We plan to thank them for
their help by playing them in a charity match at some stage.
"We spent the morning welcoming the lads back and explaining the
pre-season programme to them. After lunch they were given upper body
programmes to work on. The real work will start tomorrow.
"Carl Robinson, Lee Naylor, Termuri Ketsbaia, Kevin Muscat and Ryan
Green have all been given an extra week off because of their international
matches during the summer, so it wasn't quite a full complement."

Ketsbaia Deal Finalised
Troubled Wolves star Temuri
Ketsbaia has finalised his £400,000 move to Dundee. Ketsbaia joined Wolves
at the start of last season for £900,000 but failed to hold down a first
team place.
The Georgian international says the main
reason for his decision to play for the Tayside outfit was the presence in
the team of Georgian national skipper Georgi Nemsadze.
Emblen move to Canaries
Wolves have agreed a fee for
Neil Emblen with Norwich, the versatile utility man travelled
to Carrow Road to discuss personal terms last week, the
fee could total £580,000 with appearance related add-ons.
Wolves' chief executive Jez
Moxey says: "We have agreed a fee and now it's a case of waiting to
hear the outcome of the talks between Neil and Norwich."
Naylor Interest
Wolves England Under-21 defender
Lee Naylor is attracting the interest of top French club Caen, who have
admitted watching the player, also a admirer of Naylor is Aston Villa boss
John Gregory.
Dave Jones wants to build a promotion-winning side around his younger
players and he will not want to part with a player he feels has a big part
to play in his future plans for the club.
But to boost Jones spending power in the transfer market a sizeable cheque
could be too difficult to resist.
