Fans angry at company of Wolves

Colin Lee's Wolves are under pressure to start performing, but their saviour Sir Jack Hayward has threatened to desert the struggling club after receiving abuse when he tried to talk to protesting fans.

Defeat at Blackburn piled on the pressure for Lee's men, but editor of fans' website thewolvessite.co.uk Gavin Wilkes said: "Most fans blame the board and not Sir Jack. There's a bigger problem here. We're losing too much money."

The fans of the Midlands club have called on the under-fire board to stop selling their best players and start building for the future.

Ade Akinbiyi, Robbie Keane and Dean Richards are just some of the big names to have passed through the Molineux exit door in recent years.

Wilkes said: "They were quality players, and they haven't been replaced."

Fans argue that getting promoted to the Premiership, and more importantly staying there, is a better way of breaking even.

Wilkes said: "The problem is they're trying to run it as a business, but are not planning for the long-term future. The better way would be to keep our top stars and go for promotion."

Lee's toothless Wolves slipped to their fourth successive defeat at Blackburn at the weekend, but angry fans believe the current side are not the real problem.

Wilkes said: "I'm sure if we won a few games the demonstrations which have been going on for the last few weeks will stop.

"But the problems run deeper than the current management of the side. The boardroom has to be sorted out."
